I was open for him.
All night & all day.
Just like the coffee shop I’d met him at that day luck was on my side.

It was one cup of coffee.
My last five dollars.
And a sign of good faith.

Who’d ever known the man I given my last to would be Levee Billion, prominent figure and one of Huffington Mill’s most eligible bachelors. Did I mention he was filthy fxcking rich?

Just before he slid into his foreign whip, he’d left my mind in a frenzy and my body on fire. One wink and a thank you note with his number attached.

“Call me if you’re ever in need.”

Of course I was in need.
I had been since the day I smelled his obnoxious cologne.
Witnessed his intoxicating smile.
Been blessed with his lingering presence.

I’d become addicted.
His absence was vexatious.
Even, now, the thought of our differences keeping us apart had me strung out and stressed out.

A love with Actions

So, I enjoyed the love story, it was an instant attraction of sorts that wasn't initially acted upon. It was the story or lack their of a story surrounding their love story that I questioned.

Heartleigh (I loved her name) and Levee were the opitome of opposites attract. Heartleigh was a college graduate (of what? It was unclear) that for whatever reason wasn't utilizing her degree and was down to her last dime literally, when she meets Levee and offers him her last $5🥴 when he is in need. Levee whom has amassed a fortune and comes from a wealthy family is used to abundance. He leaves her with an offer to reach out if she is ever in need. Their interaction takes sometime, but both are intrigued by one another.

The story around them lacked. We never really got enough background about Heartleigh. She seems to have no one, not one friend. Her mom and her family was mentioned, but not really followed up on. The third act breakup 🥴 was so unnecessary. It made no sense for her to think what she thought. The man was already well established, it just didn't fit. Then the personality of Levee was inconsistent, I liked him as the brooding quiet yet dominant man, but there were times where he got almost gutter which I like but didn't seem believable for a person that struggled with speaking.

This is another instalove story by Grey and this one I enjoyed thoroughly. I was introduced to this author through her Eisenberg Series and they were all phenomenal. As I try to get caught up on the rest of her catalog some of the others have been hit or miss.

Heartleigh is down on her luck bad. Her roommate and crackhead boyfriend stole all her electronics, over $7,000 in cash, and left her to pay $1895 in rent. On top of that six weeks later the restaurant where she worked burned down. Hartleigh is at her wits end and as she’s waiting for her pot dealer at a local café, she purchases a muffin and is down to her last $5. While waiting on her order she hears that the handsome customer behind her has left his wallet. His order comes to $4.22 and Heartleigh hands over her last $5 to help him out. Before leaving the café she receives a random Airdrop. The note says “Heartleigh, Call me if you’re ever in need. Levee Billion”. Heartleigh is shocked that she didn’t recognize him. He is one of the three Billion boys and a millionaire. Still unbelieving as she arrives back at her apartment, maintenance is removing all of her belongings. So now not only is she broke and jobless but she's now homeless as well.

I've revealed enough, enjoy!

Whew! Amazing wordsmith!

This is my third read by this author and I am thoroughly convinced that she has mastered her art of writing. She is a wordsmith that is able to put words together providing both the visual and emotional aspects that are visceral. This story of Levee and Heartleigh has an imprint on both my psyche and heart. What an unusual love story that is beautifully written. I have to applaud Heartleigh who was resilient and determined to not break under her circumstances. She was what Levee needed and Levee...whew...all bae! Exceptional read!

I really wanted to like this book more but it just didn’t happen. It started off really slow. I pushed through the beginning but to be honest it didn’t get any better. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the couple and I’m still trying to figure out how they fell in love because literally nothing happen. Levee was wishy washy the whole time so to me they really didn’t connect. I’m disappointed

Can I have my heart back?

Grey has literally become one of my favorite writers. Her stories are so vivid and heartfelt. Trough has been my number one man since book 1, BUT Grey did the unthinkable and gave me a man I don't want to ever forget....Levee. One, the first chapter had me in tears. My heart broke for Heartleigh. Each chapter was nothing short of AMAZING. And even though Levee had a hard time expressing himself, than man didn't mind setting Levee straight and taking charge. Now, I want to know more about the brother with the golds..

Confusing!

I really wanted to like this book because it spoke about some of the issues that I feel people go through in relationships such as non-communication regardless of the individuals being diagnosed with disabilities. But let’s be honest here, this book seemed rushed! Levee not only had that none communication thing going on but he was bipolar as well. Why did his character switch up from hood to courtroom so fast? The story line was not terrible but it just didn’t do it for me. Maybe a tad bit unrealistic? I’m just confused.

Quick, but good.

This book really spoke to me, minus the money of course.😊😊 Love can sneak up on you like a thief in the night. One minute you're a whole, independent person then BOOM, your're 1/2 of a whole and your heart no longer belongs to yourself.

This book speaks to that elusive emotion that we all covet, but can't truly explain. We fear it, yet relish it when finally obtained. It can be fleeting, or everlasting, but most of all, if true, it will be all encompassing, and the best thing to ever happen to any human being.

Buy it, read it, and enjoy.🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥

Both Levee and Heartleigh seemed a little "off". She has no job, no money and no where to live. Levee is a millionaire who forgets his wallet, lives inside his head, and would prefer if no one speaks to him. Their first sexual encounter is disturbing on so many levels. Yet generous Heartleigh does a good deed and it turns into something so much more!

FYI: Quite a few lack of editing errors.

Two thumbs up!! 👍👍

My favorite part was how Heartleigh was able to get Levee to communicate with her. Even I got frustrated. Action does not always speak louder than words. Without communication a relationship can not stand or prosper without it. I guess Levee had to figure that out the hard way. Furthermore, they were in a relationship for only seven weeks, for a split moment I thought thanks to Loathe, that Levee proposed to Heartleigh because of his inheritance. After their first encounter, they were falling too fast for each other. Hmm!
I have never heard of Nonverbal Learning Disability (NLD). I've read stories on ADD or ADHD. This one is new. I learn something new every time I get into a good read.
I'm glad Loathe realized her error could have been the very reason Heartleigh left Levee maybe next time she will keep her mouth shut. Overall, a good story. My first from this author but it won't be my last. 💋

Not bad, but it could have been much better..

Had it not been for the confusing dialog and improper use of words and grammar, this would have been a good read. Not sure if there was a minimum word count and Grey was trying to meet that or what, but it completely annoyed me. The constant back and forth, Levee's point of view, then it jumps to her point of view without any indication also got on my nerves. So, if you can read through the lines and disregard all of the extra words and misplaced commas, this is a good story. A bit unrealistic, like who keeps seven thousand dollars in their apartment? Someone who wants to have it stolen, that's who! Also, would have been helpful to have more background information on Heartleigh. The book referenced she had a college degree, but in what? And why couldn't she find a job? And where the hell is Channing City? Just a few things I was wondering.

This is possibly one of the worst books I have read in a while. It was a short read, and the premise was good, so I pushed through. But the fact that it took me almost a week to read this book is very telling. The first issue I have is that the writing of the main male character was disjointed. On the one hand, she made him seem very formal, and his language was old-fashioned. But then, during s*x scenes, he talked like a street dude. Nothing is inherently wrong with either of them; they don't mix.

Then, the writing, in general, was rough. It seems the author sat with a thesaurus to write without fully understanding the nuances of the words. The number of malapropisms was laughable. Because of this, some of the sentences just didn't make any sense, or they didn't mean what the author was conveying - or I think what the author was trying to convey. I don't know because it was confusing because it was poorly written.

There were some gems in the book as far as her writing is concerned. I'm sure she has other work that is great, and I am willing to pick up another one to see, but if it's more of this, I'll pass.

I read a couple of Grey Huffington books and this one had a different type of love story from the rest of the books I read from her. Levee was the type of MMC you had to warm up to especially after he found out Heartleigh was sleeping in his office. I had to give Heartleigh a lot of grace because when she book them a trip using her money had me questioning her throughout the book. I can understand paying for the trip but book them plan tickets for business while you man owns his own jet is wild behavior. I really like Levee other siblings especially his sister. I know that the siblings has spin-off books. I can understand Heartleigh being confused about the inheritance part of the conversation with Loathe but I wish this miscommunication could have been at the middle of the book instead of the end of the book. I am the type of reader that I love instant love however, I feel like I want more of the couple spending time together in this book.

The Silent treatment pays off 😂

I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I selected this book. Based on the synopsis and the authors notes at the start of the book I was really holding my breath 😂
This was such a pleasant surprise, and such a great read.
Mr. LeVee Billion was definitely the strong silent type who believed actions all ways spoke louder than words.
When he encounter Heartleigh at a coffee shop one morning his whole world started to change.
Heartleigh was just being helpful the day she gave up her last five dollars to help the handsome gentleman at the coffee shops she had no idea how he would change her life.

I don’t want to give anything away. So I’ll just say read the book☺️ it has all the makings of a good romance novel and it will leave you with a chuckle at the when you see why the book is entitled “Half &Half

“For the right woman you’ll bend. For the right woman, you’ll even break. But most importantly, for the right woman, you’ll build.”

“You will know when you have met the right one. The signs will be apparent from the start. She will surpass your expectations and stand out amongst other women.”

“Time isn’t the measurement of love, perseverance is. Even when I couldn’t understand myself, you got me.” -Levee

“Even when I was unsure of myself, you were certain.” She added. "Yes. And that's how this works. We may not have it all figured out, but no one does. I don't want to wait a lifetime to love you unconditionally or keep you waiting any longer for that dream of yours to come true. I love you, and that's all that matters. All that will ever matter."

I love Levee and Heartleigh.

Levee & Heartleigh.

I liked it. Didn’t love it but liked it.
Started to feel rushed and then backpedaled in the final chapters.
He veryyy quickly got to business && sis took a dramatic exit to the news of the money.. could’ve talked about it but overall a good read.

“For the right woman you’ll bend. For the right woman you’ll even break. But most importantly, for the right woman you’ll build.”
“It wasn’t forced and neither was it rushed. It came as natural as breathing for me.”

It took me too long to read this short book but it just didn’t keep my interest. Nothing happens for the first 50% of the book so it’s hard to connect with the characters and or buy into the instant love story. The “revelation” in the epilogue would have done more for the story if revealed in the beginning of the book.

I lost count of all the grammatical, punctuation, and tense errors. I pushed through because I liked the premise and saw the potential in the story but I regret not DNF’ing.

There were a few quotes I liked so I’m not giving up on this author yet. This was my first read from Huffington but not my last, I see the potential.

Enjoyable read

My first time reading a book by this author. I was skeptical about Levee early on because he acted like a pompous jerk but boy did he do a complete 360 because of his interest in Heartleigh.

Heartleigh was down on her luck and literally gave her last five dollars to Levee, not realizing he was one of the famous Billion boys. I appreciated that you didn't try to change the heart of who these characters were. It was a nice change of pace.

I really enjoyed reading about this couple and will be checking back for stories on the other siblings.

Faith and fate

Heartleigh and Levee's lives is connected by faith and fate. By giving him her last, Heartleigh awakens something in Levee that he didn't think was possible. Because of her unlimited faith, even though she was going through, God blesses her in countless ways. Together, the couple brings out the best in each other and causes each other to live life fully, openly and honestly. Despite their differences, the characters overcomes challenges that have hinder them. This is my first book by this author, and I happily recommend it to others.

the end of this book literally had me in tearssss.

I absolutely lovedddddd Heartleigh and Levee, oh my God. Heartleigh literally lived up to her name. She literally had nothing and still gave her last to a stranger and Thank God she did.

I was so frustrated with Levee and his lack of communication too but I’m sooo glad that they found a way through it.

Everytime I think I’ve found my favorite story by Grey she always outdoes her self.

fav part🤎: the ending, the meaning to half&half had me balling. Also, where Heartleigh was “hiding” like girllllllll.

Bravo

Grey strikes again. I loved it. I loved that they didn't let society define how they loved each other. That they didn't put boundaries on their love. I love me some Heartleigh (absolutely love her name) and Levee. I can definitely relate with my girl Heart because I've encountered my fair share of struggles through life and still stumbling through some now but I don't fold and survive each circumstance as they come. Well done Grey. Well done.

You Won't Be Disappointed!

Heartleigh and Levee's chemistry was undeniable, their connection unmatched. We all need help at some point in our lives and the selflessness they both displayed was endearing. I love how they did things their way and didn't allow the opinions of others to impact their journey. I hope the we get the opportunity to re-visit them and Levee's siblings in the future *hint, hint*. :-)

They're whole Heart ❤

Levee and Heartleigh story was one for the books. I love the way they met, how they fell in love, and when they got married. So glad that it was a misunderstanding situation that had Levee and Heartleigh not talking but during that week they're love never wavered. Who would have known that a disorder could have you not being a verbal person but with the right person and the love they're giving you it could change it all. Excellent read

A chance at love 💕💕

This book was everything 💞💞 although short it definitely packed a punch. Heartleigh was at a breaking point with the way her life was spiraling out of control went she met Levee at the coffee shop. He was just the lifeline she needed. Whew chile!!!! Leeve was a man of many means yet very few words but for heartleigh he was willing to try. The dynamic and flow between the characters were relatable.. Grey Huffington never fails

Half

This is a new to me author and I can say I'm loving her stories, although this was a quick read. I loved every bit of it and wished it was more to the story. Levee was socially awkward and glad Heartleigh was the woman for him. She helped him a lot. I loved the characters and happy love won. The first sex scene was all that and more, awkward too but necessary. Job well done 👏🏽
