Tales of Alus #1

The High King

Rate this book
When the greed of the King of Marshalla leads his sorcerers to bring gargoyles and dragons to his world, he forms an invincible army of destruction to take over the countries of North Continent. His own people are not exempt from his harsh and often brutal tactics either.
Gerid Aramathea and his brother Simon find their home destroyed and friends and family killed, all because of a simple duel between the sixteen year old boy and the king’s guards. Fleeing the country, the two young men vow to return someday to make King Merrick pay for his crimes.
Their flight aboard a merchant vessel goes awry as pirates attack. Separated and sold into slavery, can Gerid and his brother find a way to save themselves, find each other back and still find a way to fulfill their vow?
Follow as a continent is thrown into war from a driven king and those that fight against him. Can there be resistance to a man wielding so much power?

First hundred pages you have to deal with the POV of the older brother who prevents his younger bad ass brother from doing bad ass things. But overall not a bad story, kinda sucks that none of the other books in this series follows the same character so I stopped reading them after this book.

I'm through book 10 and the series is still a good read. The series isn't 5 stars, but better the 4 stars.

Absolutely horrible beyond belief, there is no character development. The hero is given everything right at the start, power strength martial abilities. I couldn't even finish this book.
