Up the Mississippi River from New Orleans, north of Baton Rouge live three billy goats named Gruff. They want to cross Thompson's Creek to reach the lush pastures on the other side, but there's a very scary troll under the bridge who wants to gobble up those billy goats.
This book was a great book for 4 and 5 year olds. This is a different version of Bill Goats Gruff. This is more explicit than more the traditional version. At the end the biggest bill goat gruff gets the troll at the end. There is a great author's note at the end gives preface to what the tales background is. This shows that there are folklore fairy tales have more diversity because there are new versions of the traditional books. The illustrations were less violent than the words but he pictures could have been hard to see and understand. They are very abstract so giving context to the story will help younger children grasp the story line.
