Danny and Maxie Maws think the world of each other. Danny works hard as a milkman and with the extra money that Maxie's nanny job brings in, they manage to make ends meet. In fact, they want for nothing because what makes them really happy is just being together. But when their flashy new neighbours cast doubt in Danny's mind that he is not providing enough for Maxie, he vows to make amends. Embarking on a series of disastrous money-making schemes, Danny finds himself getting into deeper and deeper trouble. Meanwhile Maxie, who has no idea why Danny's so determined to move onwards and upwards, just wishes things would go back to the way they were.

About the author

Author of 29 books, Lynda Page was born and brought up in Leicester. The eldest of four daughters, she left home at seventeen and has had a wide variety of office jobs. She began her prolific writing career with her first novel during her 45 minute lunch hours at work. The book took 18 months to complete and was snapped up by the leading UK publisher, Headline, and she has been under contract to them ever since. She lives in a village in Leicestershire and is a full time writer.

A brilliant story, charming and romantic, set during the 1960s and told in the style of Josephine Cox and Catherine Cookson.
Well worth reading.
