Poppy thinks her life is weird working the food court at Parktowne mall, until in one brief moment of creeper killing, things change forever. Now she's a freelance zombie exterminator along with her long lusted after co-worker Garrity (her not-so-secret crush), a somewhat lusted after bad boy Cahill, and pretty gay boy Noah.
When the four are hired to do a ballsy zombie clean up at St. Peter's Hospital, Poppy finds out just what's more scary than creepers: The Evoluminaries, a zealot cult who think zombies are part of God's chosen, who happen to end up thinking Poppy might make a mighty good zombie incubator. She finds herself finally sleeping with Garrity, being hunted by a crazy preacher man and stumbling over the fact that Cahill and Noah have become lovers somewhere in the chaos. And that's all on the job.
Just another day in the life when you kill dead things...

I finished this book in one night! This was a kick-ass story...zombie butchering, sex with your best hot friend & work partner, with man on man scenes, talk of a threesome, raw action- packed, blood & guts tale! Can't wait to read the second and third in the series :)
Not really being a fan of zombies, I still found this story to be an entertaining one, mainly because of Poppy’s narration. She’s frank, slightly foul-mouthed, but definitely brave and loving, and not less able a fighter than the other free. The death of Poppy’s mother and how it forces her to make her choice of men when she seeks comfort with Garrity is a devastating mixture of sex and bereavement.
There isn’t that much sex involved, both m/f and m/m, because there’s not much time for it with all the violence, blood, and lumbering alive-again corpses to be mowed down. While I can’t call it “good clean fun,” it’s definitely a mayhem-filled romp worthy of any zombie film. Good for a first entry in a series. I’ll be looking forward to the rest.
I won this book in an online contest celebrating the release of Book 3, Lunatic Fringe.
I downloaded it to my kindle and because I've had some formatting problems from time to time, I checked it to make sure it looked ok.
And then I read the prologue.
And then I looked up a few hours later.
WOW! Fantastic.
Hot sex. Cool, realistic characters, mind-blowing sex scenes (did I say that already?), nifty zombies, and a really horribly wonderful villain made for a book that I just did not want to end.
Fortunately for me (and you!) there are 2 sequels.
Really good, humorous read. I like this author's voice and writing; I just it was a bit longer. This is definitely not romance which I appreciated. Poppy's peeping on Cahill and Noah surprisingly hot.
This series spoke to me on a level I haven't felt in a while. I read a lot, I've put 400+ books on my nook in a year and 3 months, but these ones really caught me. I read all 3 books 3 times in 3 days. I really related to Poppy, in the way she talked, the books she read, the song they listened to. I love these characters, and I can't wait to read more about them.
