The following Tales are meant to be submitted to the young reader as an introduction to the study of Shakespeare. Diligent care has been taken to select such words as might least interrupt the effect of the beautiful English tongue.
The Lamb adaptations are still a bit difficult for modern children, so I always start with E. Nesbit's version, them David Timson's, and the Lamb version last. My daughter's comment was "This is like The Lion King!"
Still not my type, but at least in Hamlet, even I can admit the ridiculousness of fate being a total jackass and just loving to shove irony in everyone's face. I can acknowledge it's greatness, doesn't mean I have to absolutely love it though. xP
