This book is really something to me. So interesting to read growing up as a teenager now in the 2020s. Much of what I read made me sad. The future seemed so bright through 1968 eyes. Now we are here and these worse case theories play out in my city and the hopeful ones are lost fantasies.

The writer also make this book even a scientific one really entertaining and with great humor and self-awareness.

Some great ways of thinking about thinking highlighted here. A very thoughtful approach to addressing what is essentially 100% uncertainty. The main predictions were impressive, actually mentioning artificial intelligence by name, technology, and societal changes with good accuracy.

Unfortunately the second half of the book shows a heavy influence from the time it was written. Discussions of nuclear strategy, possible conflicts, and geopolitics blur into a mound of boring and low impact speculation that forced me to give up reading it.
