What a wonderful collection of paranormal stories. The author takes you into a world of each character with expert ease. I particularly enjoyed Music Box, it has a great twist and Idle Thursday, because its subject matter is one of my interests. I recommend losing yourself in these narratives.

This was a series of shorts written by Kelly Covic who also writes under Kelly Moran. I enjoyed scarier side of these stories. I'm sure I'm not the only one wishing for more in each of these. Two I enjoyed most were The Attic and The Park Bench. I look forward to reading more of this genre from her.

This book is a collection of spooky scary short stories that will have you wondering what went bump in the night. Some will give you shivers and chills and then wonder if it was a good idea to read it before bed. These stories will have you questioning everything in life. Like the haunted mansion in silent sighs where it feels like it is watching you, the feeling of the main character in that story you can feel and relate to them with the panic and terror they experience. Make you wonder if your old clothes in attic will really transport you to another time and place. This writing style and imagination will draw you in and have you intrigued. Every story is short but such a roller coaster of a ride that you can not put it down because you must know what was going to happen, so you keep turning that pages. But you know you really don’t want to know but you darn well know you will, like watching a movie thou your fingers because you just must know. Highly suggest if you like horror, chill, thrill all in one this book if for you.

Insomnia by Kelly Covic is a collection of short stories that cover terror, grief, and so much more.

As this was Kelly’s first step into the darkness (she also writes romance under the name Kelly Moran!), I thought this collection was awesome! I look forward to seeing what she does next.

Don’t make any assumptions with these tales! You may feel that each one is leading you down a specific path, but you will be mistaken… Each tale is so atmospheric while centering on very different settings. We had a few of my favorite types of short stories here as well; tales that give you a shock at the very end!

What a collection of chilling tales that will definitely linger in your mind like a fog! This is a must-read for fans of lighter horror that enjoy super descriptive writing styles.

Insomnia (A Short Stories Collection) by Kelly Covic
4 Stars

For a debut author, I think this book is very good. It is a collection of spooky short stories. Some will give you chills while others will leave you wondering. My top three stories have to be Silent Sighs because I literally felt the main character’s panic and terror, The Attic because it was so original and the Music Box because it scared me senseless. I’m looking forward to seeing what else the author can come up with.

Kelly Covic is a new author to me but that didn’t stop me from digging in to Insomnia. I was very intrigued. A collection of original short stories that will have you looking in the shadows to see what lurks there. Where reality and horror blend into the unbelievable. Where twisted, spooky and creepy have new meanings. Where madness and mayhem reside. It will make you wonder if you need to pinch yourself to see if you are awake or not.
Reading Insomnia was like watching a movie where you put your hands over your eyes but you have to look between your fingers because you have to know what is going on. It’s like being scared to the point where you have to have your child turn on each and every light before you move. It’s like having your heart beat so palpable you think the neighbours can hear it.
But when all is said and done Kelly's writing style and imagination will draw you in and have you intrigued. Each and every story is short but pack a punch.
If you like something that will make you jump and squirm then get on board the crazy train that is Insomnia.

Things that go bump in the night indeed.
Scary tales that gave me shivers.
While I'm a huge fan of Kelly's alter ego, this persona's writing scared the crap out of me.
Loved it.

True to its title, this collection of short stories is sure to inspire at least a few nights of insomnia. I love creepy and slightly bone-chilling stories, but what makes this collection better is the sudden introductions and endings of each one. I wish I could say with certainty that I had a favorite of the stories, but they're all so good there really is no way to choose. The author has a way of telling the tales in each chapter/short story that leaves the reader satisfied, despite the short aspect of each story. I'll definitely be reflecting on this book during the spooky season!

Interwoven horror collection
This is an anthology of twisted short stories that would make a great addition to a horror story night. The writing style draws you in and the stories leave your heart racing. There’s plenty of spine chilling mystery and paranormal aspects that will have you checking over your shoulder. Highly recommend for supernatural thriller lovers.

I’m not one to seek out and read anthologies or short stories but when I stumbled across Insomnia, I was truly intrigued. How can you go wrong by taking a chance on such a short read anyway? Before delving in, I read a review where someone describes this as a collection of “camp fire stories” and I love that description. I’ve never read this author before but she exceeded all my expectations. There were SO many times I wanted to write down a quote from just about every story because the author’s way with words was incredible. The description and vivid storytelling really thrilled me. Whether you read the stories at once, or pace yourself… I would definitely recommend this book.

As a fan of Kelly Covic's alter ego Kelly Moran, I was looking forward to reading this collection of creepy short stories. Highly imaginative with different themes throughout, they were ideal paranormal reading for coffee breaks. Expect unnerving dreams if you read before bed.
My favourite was The Music Box and The Attic

Let me start by saying I’m already a huge fan of her alter ego, her writing style is right up my alley. So of course I was stoked to read her collection of short stories. Y’all. She does not disappoint. The collection is delightfully creepy and just sinister enough…but maybe don’t read it late at night. Can’t wait to read more!!

This is a great collection of short stories - I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first picked up this book, but I’m glad I did.
Each story is unique which I liked as it made reading the book a more enjoyable experience for me. I loved how creepy and unsettling the stories were. I rarely get scared by books so the fact that there were even times where I felt like my hair stood on end was great for me – just what I wanted!
My only criticism would be that I wish some of the stories were a bit longer, I wanted more! Though I think the stories are great as they are, it’s just pure selfishness on my part wanting to make the creepy sensation last longer.
I hope that the author continues to write in this genre as I would love to read more like this from them!

Insomnia is a collection of short, twisted stories by Kelly Covic. This is an anthology of what some would call ‘campfire stories’- as they have all the ingredients needed to creep you out and jump at the shadows.
This book may be made up of short stories, but they are all really well-woven and seem much longer than they are, in a great way, while delivering tales of the supernatural with plenty of spooky, chilling, dark, mysterious, paranormal, and macabre elements that will definitely unnerve you.
The stories contained in this collection are:
-Silent Sighs
-The Attic
-The Park Bench
-The Music Box
-A Closed Door
-A Message
-Thank You for Coming
-Letter to Grandma
-Idle Thursday
I really love a great creepy read- any book that has me peering into shadows and leaves me unsettled is a sure winner in my eyes….. I found that kind of winner here, as this book contains not just one, but 9 stories that had me wanting to leave all the lights on before going to bed, and had me thinking about them long after I had finished the book. And they still creep me out all this time later lol. So, Ms. Covic did a fantastic job of bringing nightmares alive, that’s for sure. #omgmusicboxisscary
I loved delving into this scary read- and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a touch of horror in their life. Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Covic does next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Kelly Covic!

Insomnia is a collection of short stories written by Kelly Moran’s alter ego, Kelly Covic. Most of the stories are about dark and sinister things that go bump in the night. These stories will leave you with goosebumps and questioning what lurks in the dark. They will leave you feeling like eyes are watching you from the shadows. They will leave you looking over your shoulder as you question what that sound was that you just heard and what else is out there that you cannot see with the naked eye.

These stories will have you questioning everything you thought that you knew about life and death. From the haunted old mansion in Silent Sighs where eyes watch from the shadows to clothes that transport you to another time and place in The Attic. To Idle Thursday that will give you a whole other outlook on life after death and what really happens when we die. Be sure to read these stories with a light on, cuddled under a blanket for safety or you will begin to question every sound and what might be lurking in every shadow. These stories will terrify the pants off you and leave you with chills.

This is a great collection of short stories. I can't pick a favourite as I love them all. The stories are all different. From unseen things in the dark, things going bump in the night, invisible friends with evil intent and a story of a life after death there is something for everyone.
There have been stories that made me shiver with fear, parts where I was scared to carry on ready and in the final story my heart felt so sad for everyone affected my the loss of their loved one.

This book is called Insomnia and I can understand why. Some of these stories definately need to be read with the light on while others make you think and gives you a sense of sadness as you hear the stories being told.
I don't normally like scary stories but I really enjoyed these stories. Even the ones that made me jump.

Kelly Covic is about to send you on a journey where nothing is as it seems and the veil between this world and the next thins just enough to give a glimpse of what is on the other side, as well as letting them glimpse you in return, but what you will see is nothing you will have thought possible.

There is everything from mysterious noises, the bending of reality, haunting events and surprising circumstances in each of these nine short stories, including Idle Thursday, but in order to learn what these stories have to tell and show you, you will need to read all of them with a hot drink, snack and a blanket, as you go and read this collection of stories which will haunt you long after you have read them and stay rent free in your mind as you read through them all and try to figure out what happens next.

As the title implies, Insomnia is a collection of creepy campfire type stories to keep you wondering what lies just beyond the light.
The stories included are:
--Silent Sighs
--The Attic
--The Park Bench
--The Music Box
--A Closed Door
--A Message
--Thank You for Coming
--Letter to Grandma
--Idle Thursday
For a short stories sequence, I really enjoyed this one. The stories are well written and each is very different from the last, no repeat scares here! With 9 unnerving tales, there is a level of scare for everyone. I think this would be a great starter book for anyone delving into the horror genre, but also quite a treat for those of us that read it as a preference! Insomnia, the perfect title for a book that will keep you up (either reading through the night, or unable to sleep as the stories creep into your dreams)!

Be prepared to be fearful of bumps in the night. Covic has written a wonderful collection of spooky short stories which are captivating and leaves it up to you, the reader, to determine what really happened. Disliking stories that tie up all loose ends, I appreciated leaving something to the readers' imagination.

I enjoyed the wide range of topics- from a magical trunk in an attic to a traditional haunted house, every story was refreshing. My favorite story was "The Attic," because it keeps you guessing where the main character is going to end up. In all the stories, the dialogue and descriptions of the setting set the eerie tone for the reader. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I now know why Kelly, the author of the short stories decided to call the book Insomnia! This is a book with several short stories that leave you thinking about the what if, the what happened, and the what the heck did I just read?! I found myself lost in the multiple short stories, some of them left me wondering what happened, some of them left me thinking...oh my! I'm not much for scary stories...I'm a big scaredy cat! But I did find this book to be very entertaining! Great job Kelly with writing amazing short stories that kept me captivated! There is a little bit of mystery, a little bit of chills and a whole lot of thinking that goes into reading these short stories! You will not be disappointed!

This book completely took me by surprise with just how much I enjoyed it. I had read a few books “like” this lately, finding the shorter stories great as time fillers. I picked up this book thinking that I would be the same – easy to pick up and easy to put down. This was a mistake. As soon as I started reading this book I could not put it down until I had read all of the stores inside – sleep be damned! I thought this was a unique and interesting collection and I loved it as soon as I started reading. It was so well written and absolutely captivating. This is a new author to me and, as her debut collection, a great way to show everyone what you are capable of. I cannot wait to see what she will produce next.

Insomnia: (A Short Stories Collection) by Kelly Covic

Holy Cow I wasn’t mentally prepared to have the bejesus scared out of me nor was I expecting the wild scary dreams I had of me being chased. This is a collection of short stories that will have you looking over your shoulder to see if someone is there or not. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next . This is a fairly new author to me and will definitely be looking forward to reading more from them in the future. I highly recommend reading this Anthology as each story is creepy and twisted. If you’re a fan of horror stories then you will love this collection of short stories.

This was a great quick read of scary short stories! I have to say my favorites were the stories called The Music Box and Idle Thursday. The last story, Idle Thursday, really got me because it’s a very real fear for me. I was not expecting a story like that at all, it wasn’t just about ghosts or other paranormal happenings. And The Music Box gave me chills when I read the ending! I love books that have short stories that leave something to the imagination and this one did just that. It was the first book I have read by this author but I will be looking at more of their books. They have an easy writing style that I really enjoyed!

I absolutely devoured Kelly Covic's Insomnia. This collection of 9 short stories is full of scary twists and things that go bump in the night. These stories made my already active imagination run wild! At the end of each story, I felt like I was questioning, “what happened?” “what was making that noise?” and “did I really just read that?” Although the stories were short, Kelly Covic managed to pack them with great world building and a wonderful array of characters. I felt every pounding heart, eyes darting, shallow breath moment in each of the stories. This was my first time reading anything by Kelly Covic, but I am looking forward to reading more!

The perfect book to accompany you on vacation to a secluded cabin in the mountains and around a cozy campfire. I used to be an avid horror movie and book nerd, but have ventured away from that genre, since I found it difficult to find something to pique and keep my interest. This author lured me back into my old love for this genre. She has done an amazing job at creating short, yet rich and skin-crawling creepy stories. It takes a good writer to create such a detailed world and complex characters in such few pages. I can’t wait to reunite with my old love of horror through more of her writings.

I thoroughly enjoy scary stories, but I feel like it’s more and more difficult to scare me these days. Kelly Covic definitely proved that I can still lose sleep after reading these stories! I was creeped out while I was reading them, flinching at my cats jumping on me, and then deciding I didn’t need as much sleep as I thought I did! Each story brings a new sense of terror to the table and the author has such a way of weaving each one that puts you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next. I highly recommend picking this up if you enjoy creepy horror stories because you surely won’t be disappointed!

I'm a sucker for short stories and then you tell me they're scary stories?! I'm in! Kelly Covic did an absolutely terrifyingly amazing job with these stories. The title of this book is spot on because some of these stories definitely crept their way into my dreams and kept me awake. I couldn't choose a favorite they are all so well-written. The way Covic is able to twist her words around your brain until you can't tell reality from fiction is fantastically ghastly. If you love a good scare and want a sleepless night, grab your copy right now!

This is an engaging collection of short stories. Each story gives you a glimpse into a world where you should listen to your other senses. Some will have you sleeping with the lights and others will have you looking warily at your surroundings. The author does a good job with these nine stories. Each one is fresh and keeps your attention. As with most collections there were those that stood out more than others but as a whole this collection is a nice read. If you are looking for a little excitement to your reading these stories may bring a bit of horror to your library.
