New title for this book: Everything State Assesment creators need to know about assessment. This book suggests that a principal will look up the instructional sensitivity of a high stakes test... OK, I assume it will be poor. Then what? I was hoping this would read less like a textbook, but it was thick and full of jargon. I read some chapters and realized I didn't grasp much. I do like how there are key points at the end of each chapter which did help me when going back to digest what I read. I am taking an Admin Leadership Graduate Class, I had a few books about assessment to choose from to read for a project and this is what I picked. I choose poorly as I was hoping that I would come away with more tangible information.
Started off strong, but by the end - chapters 8-10 - I was pretty convinced the author doesn't like students or teachers. Definitely written for school leaders and those leaders that are removed from what happens in the classroom. I might recommend excerpts from this book, but not a cover to cover read.
