"It is more than probable that I am not understood; but I fear, indeed, that it is in no manner possible to convey to the mind of the merely general reader, an adequate idea of that nervous intensity of interest with which, in my case, the powers of meditation (not to speak technically) busied and buried themselves, in the contemplation of even the most ordinary objects of the universe." - Edagr A. Poe

I live with my two cats and Husband of three years. I love to travel, ride horses, write, read, draw, drink wine, cook, each chocolate, and design. Never figured I'd become a writer but did, and no matter the day it's always good because of it. My somewhat unhealthy facination with the idea that we all die adds an oddly sweet twist to my love stories. Ever since I was old enough to understand this, I haven't been able to stop thinking of it, and what happens after. To me, I don't want to lose the love I've built in this life... Writing books ensure that this will never happen.

Well, I love a mystery with twists and turns as well as the next guy. And when someone says, "well I never saw that coming," I usually understand that to mean that the plot and the characters were so cleverly crafted that once the who in the "whodunit?" is revealed you slap yourself upside the head and say, " whoa!". What I DO NOT like is totally new characters and information introduced in the last 5 percent of the book to explain the who, what and why. That is dirty pool in my view. And that's what this disappointing book does. This book plods along in a fairly pedestrian way. No twists and turns. Just a lawyer trying to defend a client who has done incredibly stupid things. While getting close to the end I'm wondering what the punch line is going to be. None of the characters is particularly well developed. There have only been very vague hints of another woman. I was furious in the end that the author simply introduced new and shocking information, and two previously unknown characters, to explain the mystery. So the ending stinks. It feels like the author cheated. I felt cheated. Two stars because I read along contentedly until the ending.

A great prelude leading into the journey of just what Ladybird Ladybird is to become. I hope this will explain so much as I have not yet read Ladybird Ladybird. A fantastic introduction of a sad journey of the lines of women throughout the years of life that they have had to endure. Not by choice, but by fate. When one is born, another shall pass. That is just the way it goes.

A sad but realistic introduction into the Novella, Ladybird Ladybird. I am even more eager than before to immerse myself into the life of Samantha.
