Booty for a Bad Man

This exclusive full-cast dramatization, complete with stirring music and authentic sound effects, brings to life Tell Sackett, an honest, two-fisted cowboy.

Tell Sackett knew that gold spelled trouble faster than anything except a woman, and he had a lot of gold.  Problem was, none of it was his.  Tell was just delivering the gold for a fee.  The Coopers, a gang of bloodthirsty desperadoes who'd slit a man's throat for the silver filling in his teeth, were hot on his trail.

So, the last thing Tell needed was Christine Mallory, a pretty, stuck-up city woman, to slow him down.  Taking her on could easily cost Tell his life.  But it was that or leave her in the desert to die.  As Tell Sackett's father used to say, "Women are trouble."  Tell was about to learn what he meant.

Length: 65 minutes.

I had this for years on cassette, and enjoyed it a lot, so I was real glad to see it on Audible (since I no longer have a cassette player in my car). Still as good as it used to be. This is a full cast dramatization, not just a reading, and it features my favorite Sackett, Tell.

I'm not really into western, too much machismo and tricky dialect for me to interpret. I think it would be easier if I were American, and had a handle on some of the phrases. This was short enough for me to give it a go, but I think a whole novel would be too much for me.

I appreciated the humor in this short story. Tell's matter-of-fact narration is one of the most enjoyable parts of the story.

Tell Sackett is one of my favorite Louis L'Amour characters. Although the narration was a bit flat, the character actors did a great job. I thought this was quite an enjoyable tale. Simple, but interesting.
