Oceans: A Visual Guide

"This is a superb book. The authors are to be commended. Not only did I find the book informative and useful, but as an ichthyhologist [fish expert] and former director of a marine conservation non-governmental organization, I learned new information."
- Neil Alfonso, Research Services, Canadian Museum of Nature The world's oceans contain habitats that are as different from one another as a rainforest is from a desert. Oceanography is little more than a century old, and scientists now explore the sea in specialized submersibles and scan its features from space. Oceans explores the mysteries of these fascinating worlds beneath the waves. From the coastline to the deepest trench, oceans host an astonishing variety of marine life. Some are rare, some bizarre, some of breathtaking beauty. Each form of life has adapted to the extreme conditions of ocean life in unique and fascinating ways. This book features hundreds of color illustrations and photographs that reveal the oceans like never

Suomeksi Maailman valtameret, Gummerus 2016

Huikea kokonaisuus.

it was an ok book, i liked all the facts that were in here

my only problem with this book is that i wish instead of putting all the animals that are related into one section they instead all had their own part that talk about just them

other then that it was a good book.

I love this book ! ! ! ! The layout of this book is fanominal. There is an image for every creature and environmental phenomenon it discusses. I loved learning about the currents in each of the oceans. I have a facination with the Southern Ocean's insane conditions, and this book made me even more facinated! The Drake Passage <3 <3 <3

"At some latitudes, it is possible in theory for the waves to have an infinite fetch (the distance traveled with no obstruction), since they flow around the world without touching land."

^^ The Antartic Circumpolar Current flows counterclockwise around Antartica, encouraging waves to never make landfall.

I love going to my school library :)

A delightful picture book - gorgeous photos and enough scientific information to keep it interesting and make me feel like I'm contributing to my education, but not so much to bore me to tears. :)
