Not only does the story feature demons and dragons, but they can actually mate with one another. This concept is what immediately interested me, and made me pick up this story. I was delighted to read a story that fully embraced the paranormal element the way Inflamed has.

Isabella is a demon that I would like to have on my side of a battle. She has a strong will that really makes her standout as a heroine. While she may be a damsel in distress that does not mean she cannot protect people she cares for. The notion that a demon can care for someone in itself made her character intriguing. In true subbuccus fashion once she has a tantalizing sexual encounter her powers are amazing. I would consider the total package of what I look for in a heroine.

While the story was thoroughly entertaining I did feel a little disconnected from the storyline at moments since I had not read the earlier stories in this series. It is obvious from the very beginning that I would be missing something since I was coming into the series in story 4, especially with Pete’s siblings. I think I also was a little disconnected from Pete because of it as well. I could tell that previous information was given about his personality, by dialogue within the story, but I just could not make as good of a connection with him as I would have liked because of this missing information. Therefore, while you will enjoy the story if you have not previously read the stories, I would suggest that you read the previous stories to fully appreciate the authors talent.

The conflict within this story was one that again featured a wonderful paranormal element. Demon and dragons working together to defeat a Dark mage. What gets more paranormal than that? The Dark mage is one impressive foe and seems to be undefeatable. The element of an every unobtainable victory always makes a conflict even more entertaining, and the twist at the end was just the icing on the cake. I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for this series next.
