Emilie Stevens does not like change. So when her grandmother suggests changing up Easter tradition by inviting her neighbor's family - including her neighbor's sloppy grandson, Blake - and spending the weekend in a lake house in Texas, Emilie is anything but on board with the idea.
Blake Sullivan is excited for the vacation, even though he'll have to put up with worrywart Emilie the whole time. He's got plans to just sit on the dock and fish the weekend away.
But when the catfish aren't biting and the manicured golf course turns out to be a place for Frisbee golf, will Emilie and Blake find out that the one thing they have in common is the most important thing of all?

2017 read - I am not a caps text kind of girl when it coming to writing on the internet, but...
I am FANGIRLING SO hard after reading this novella!!
My goodness, y'all, I legitimately cannot. This was the definition of cute, adorable, & precious. (Never mind the fact that two of those are synonyms.)
I'll do an official review and such later, but just know, it's a 4.5 from me. ;)
2024 reread - This is still SUCH a cute novellas! It's super short, but has humor, great faith content shown, and lovable characters. Light enemies-to-more and matchmaking. Honestly, every novella by this author makes me wish it was full-length!
I adored this novella!! It came with everything I've come to expect from Mangum, humor, sweet romance, and a solid faith element that is both natural and convicting. I loved the two grandmothers in this story and the fun Easter feels. I will probably end of rereading this every Easter.
It’s hard not to love an Erynn Mangum story. Faith, Fun, and all around adorableness? That’s her writing! I’ll admit, the fact that this was told in third person threw me off a bit at first. But in the end I loved this short story!
Cute story, fun characters, I would love to see this as a full book. As someone who doesn’t worry and who married a warrior, I totally relate to their dynamic.
I absolutely love this book. I can never say anything bad about an Erynn Mangum book because she just doesn't write bad books! :D I would, without a doubt, recommend this book. The characters were wonderful, super funny, and completely relatable. There was a lot of faith content, which is something I admire about all Erynn Mangum novels and novellas. If you get the chance you should read this story. I was able to read an actual paperback copy of this book in a novella collection of hers called We are Gathered Here. Paperback to me is always better than a screen, but no matter what way you choose to read you should definitely read this story. :D
This sweet novella is made up of all the things that make Erynn Mangum one of my favorite authors: funny one liners, strong and well-developed characters, and a Biblical truth presented without being "preachy". Emilie is a by-the-books kind of girl while Blake is a relaxed guy. After a lifetime of avoiding each other, they are thrown together for a weekend with their families at a lake house, the two find that maybe they aren't so different.
Told in Erynn's unique voice, this short story is a quick, fun, summer read.
