Like all anthologies, some stories are better than others, but the majority of stories in this volume are very good. These stories are all set in the world of the Silver Age Sentinels role-playing game from Guardians of Order, but the main characters from that setting are rarely the main characters in these stories, these stories concentrate on lesser known (or brand new) superheroes.

This is the second anthology in this line, I haven't read the first, but that didn't impact on my enjoyment of these stories. There shouldn't be too much culture shock for people new to the setting, other than the existence of superheroes, there are really only two major differences between this world and ours - New York City is known as Empire City; and the island of Thule has risen in the North Sea (between UK and Norway) and is home to one of the major supervillains - Kreuzritter (pretty much a Dr Doom clone).

The stories in this anthology aren't just superheroic slugfests (although there is some of that), they make an attempt to look at how a society like ours may be changed by the existence of metahumans. Most of these stories are pretty short - in comic book terms very few would be the main story, most would be the 8-page backup story that used to be a feature.

If you're into superheroes, this is worth a read.
