Stasi Eldredge loves writing and speaking to women about the goodness of God. She spent her childhood years in Prairie Village, Kansas, for which she is truly grateful. Her family moved to southern California back in the really bad smog days when she was ten. She loved theater and acting and took a partiality to her now-husband, John, when they were friends in high school. Stasi earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology from San Diego State University, which she attended primarily because it was close to the beach. She became a Christian her junior year in college and dove into the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduating, Stasi joined Youth for Christ, heading up a ministry to pregnant teenagers and teen mothers. She has been active in ministry ever since, including theater ministry, crisis pregnancy center ministry, women’s ministry, and children’s ministry. The Eldredge family moved to Colorado in 1991.

Stasi loves the joy and freedom that comes from knowing the passionate, stunning love of Jesus Christ and lives to see others come to know him more deeply. She loves worship music, time to bake, celebrating life, getting lost in a good novel, baths, walking in the woods, hearing her sons' laughter, the sound of wind in the trees, a good cup of coffee, the smell of the earth after it rains, a powerful turn of phrase, animals in the wild, gardens, freshly mowed grass, family traditions, cherished friendships, the Tetons, rivers, mountain lakes, the grace and beauty of horses, the affection of her dog, and most of all, her family and her God.

This little book has helped me to understand my relationship with God so much better. You know how we're always trying to figure out what we've inherited from our parents? This book is all about what women have inherited from God.

Once I got over the overly girly/cheesy pictures that fill the book, I liked it. It was refreshing to read about the real substance of romance as something not commercially cheapened and ridiculous but as something essential to how women function precisely because of the way that God functions. For that alone I'm thankful to Dani for sharing the book with me. I think I needed it right about that time.

Bring your heart closer to God with this book and be ready to transform your old thoughts on many topics Christian women concern themselves with. Filled with verses and examples, the author helps women be able to open their hearts to Gods love and put their past fears and troubles aside. While I hoped this would be a more in depth Bible study, I enjoyed the different points Stasi makes and her writing style.

Excellent book! A must read for every female regardless of age. I would encourage a mother/daughter read for every young teenage girl. The book identifies three questions every female has and where to find the answers to those questions as well as where not to seek those answers. Sometimes we as women look in the mirror and judge ourselves by what we see. This book talks about not only the natural beauty that we carry on the outside however more importantly, and to the point, the beauty that is on the inside. This book edifies and encourages women to look at our wounds that keep us from stepping freely into our full destiny. The examples held up show the fearlessness of ordinary women both biblical and contemporary to help women to understand the truths put forth. It talks about our purpose as individuals. Recognizing the great need of those around us and the world to what we have to offer: our beauty and purpose regardless of what that purpose is. From home maker to business owner to CEO of a major corporation, we are image bearers of God. I highly recommend this book to both genders! Femininity Rules!

I read the summary at the back of the book and I felt oh yes, I have to read this one. I bought it and was dissappointed. All the rush for nothing. Maybe if I read it again, I may get that supposedly wow message or not. The book was just 'ok.'

REREAD

I understand better some of the points in the book, however there seem a disconnect when the author explained about my captivating heart. Was this written to generate interest for Captivating or to get the attention that I supposed Captivating received?

My friend gave me this book a few years ago and I have put off reading it since it is not my type of book at all. I finally read it since she asked about it.

I have a hard time with books about religion unless they are discussing it historically. The writing was well done and I did not notice grammar errors or things like that. The pictures were my favorite part of the book so many pretty places.

Zabierałam się za tę książkę ze 3 razy. Dopiero za ostatnim coś zaiskrzyło. Warto było ją przeczytać. Często czujemy się niekochane, niewartościowe, zagubione, zamieszane w oczekiwaniach. Ta książka mówi prosto do kobiecego serca, z delikatnością, miłością i czułością.
Polecam!
