"4.5 stars" Game Night is a steamy stand-alone short story of about thirty-five pages. Salena and Trevor have known each other for a long time. He’s her best friend and neighbor’s brother-in-law, and they see one another almost every week at game night. Salena doesn’t really care anything about sports, but she attends just to see Trevor. She’s seriously attracted to him, and the hot firefighter has been the star of all her sexy fantasies for a while. However, she thinks that he’s just a player and doesn’t want to get her heart broken. What she doesn’t know, though, is that Trevor has it just as bad for her, but when he flirts with her a bit following a game night and she gives him the brush-off, he thinks she’s not interested. While cleaning up after the party, all the food won’t fit in the fridge, so Trevor takes some of the left-overs next door only to find Salena naked in her kitchen with her hand stuck in the garbage disposal. Once he frees her, the sexual tension is too much to ignore anymore, leading to a very steamy night.
Game Night is a brain-meltingly hot, erotic romance that was a lot of fun to read. It’s mostly one long sex scene, but it’s generally well-done and certainly kept me engaged throughout. I like that Salena and Trevor have known and had the hots for each other for a while. It made their quick trip to the bedroom a lot more believable and enjoyable. The ending definitely has an HFN vibe, rather than an HEA, but given the brevity of the story, it made sense. There are no unrealistic declarations of love, only a tacit agreement to keep seeing each other. But given how hot their chemistry is, I could see them making it for the long haul. There were a few minor things that kept the story from earning the full five stars from me. The first was that Trevor is described twice as having long sideburns that go down his jaw. That was an image I had to scrub from my mind’s eye, because all I could think of were muttonchops. While this look may have worked for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, it’s decidedly not a sexy look for the general male populace. LOL! Also, a little of the descriptive language used during the love scene was a bit flowery and inching toward purple prose territory, and lastly there were some editing issues (typos, missing words, continuity problems), which really should have been caught by the editor/proofreader that were a bit distracting. Otherwise, Game Night was a very enjoyable read. It was my first by Darah Lace, but has definitely whetted my appetite to try more of her work.

His Reason to Change -
This was a heartwarming and beautifully written romance, with engaging characters and a captivating storyline, that had me hooked from the first page until the end. It was evident with each page turn that the characters were meant to be together, but they just kept dancing around each other. You will enjoy reading this book and have fun doing so. This is the first book I have read from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.

Shy, pretty Salena Martin can't stop fantasizing about her best friend Macy's brother in law. He's at all the parties they have and that includes the one tonight: game night. It's another basketball night at Derek and Macy's and Salena's mind is on her hot fantasies of Trevor. She decides to leave early and try out her new sex toys that she bought at the women's party Macy gave earlier in the day. That is a new kind of adventure for Salena. It's been eight months since she's had a man in her life and the only one she can think about is Trevor Branson, but she is sure he doesn't feel the same about her.
When the game ends, Macy sends Trevor across the alley where Salena lives to put some food in her refrigerator, since hers is full. Salena, expecting Macy, rather than Trevor, is shocked when she hears his masculine voice behind her... but she's not as surprised as Trevor is to find Salena standing naked in her kitchen with her hand stuck down the garbage disposal, her bracelet hooked on a blade. He happily comes to her rescue, and finds that the object that Salena was trying to remove from the sink drain was a sex toy. A small metal ball. Before Trevor frees Salena's hand, he takes extreme advantage of the situation, causing a raging storm of sexual arousal in both of them. When he learns of the personal plans for her evening he decides to be of yet greater service!
This story just keeps getting hotter as it evolves, the desire between the lovers intoxicating in their passion. I enjoyed the natural way the story unfolded, with the tension building throughout and ending in a very complete and eloquent way. There is a happy ending here, but it isn't completely free of challenge. I was pleased with the abilities of the author in her storytelling, as well as the detailed execution of her craft. I recommend this story as a modern and realistic fantasy that I'm sure romance readers will enjoy, as I did.

Good short story. I thought the ending was a little abrupt... it definitely could have been a little longer.

This was my second book by this author and it was a hot one. The writing is done well and I got a real feel for these two characters that are secretly craving one another. The book is short and is at a high heat level and very enjoyable.
She had wanted him but for a relationship, not just one night. He felt the same and she never knew.
Giving it was so good! I would have been so embarrassed! The girl definitely got caught at the right time considering the outcome of her night! I am happy the two got together but I really wish that we got a whole story because the writing is so good. This was a good time and very steamy!

Nice short very spicy read between a fireman and his sister-in-law's friend. As always I love Darah's writing and read this in one sitting.
