Rolf Enger (1960–) has previously published the short story collections Ikke en urmaker i verden (No Watchmaker Alive, 1989), Bronsegutter (Bronze Boys, 1991), the novel Solformørkelse (Solar Eclipse, 1994), Mekhane, et essay om biljard (Mekhane, an Essay on Pool, 1995) and the novel Tid og ro (Time and Calm, 2001). He is represented with short stories in several anthologies. He was a precursor of "dirty realism" in Norway, developing a voice of his own at an early stage – modernist but popular, with a generous helping of black humour.
