The lion share of the story is a tedious exploration of our protagonist, Sloan, overcoming a near fatal gunshot wound as she convalesces with her family. The thriller element involves a kooky religious couple who kidnap people who have suffered near death experience in order to quiz them before sending the on their way to the great hereafter. Alternately tedious and ridiculous.
HOMEPORT- 1 star. I love Nora, so to give her 1 star just about kills me. This was terrible. You can tell it is one of her earlier books. It is full of old school romance novels mindset. Not very appealing to me. I think if I would have read this instead of listened to it, I probably would have given it 2 stars. The narrator leaves a little to be desired. I did not like the characters.
HIDDEN RICHES - 3 stars. Again this is an older version of Nora's writing. So glad she has improved over the years. The narrater did a much better job on this story. I enjoyed Dora and Jed. They were matched for each other. There wasn't much mystery, but it had suspense and romance. I like how they worked together to take down the protaganist.
THE REEF - 3.5 stars. Ok, getting closer to Nora's normal abilities. I enjoyed the characters and the story. The narrator does a good job also. I liked Matthew and Tate. Both are strong characters. This story is worth listening to and/or reading.
TRUE BETRAYALS-3.5 stars. I enjoyed this story and the characters. There wasn't a lot of romance, but there was mystery and suspense. I really liked Gabe and Kelsey. Things moved a little fast between them and also between Kelsey and her mom. It was hard to keep track of a few characters, but the mystery was good. Narrator did a good job also. Worth it.
