Although this book was not the end of the series, I am happy that it is the end for me. In some ways this was the best book of the first three. Everyone stepped up to the plate and took a leadership role. The level of violence and evil was a bit over the top albeit fairly creative but I still couldn't bring myself to like any of the characters except maybe the twins' father Richard who finally cleared away the fog and realized that while he might not have magic, he could still help. I never enjoyed the reader. I thought she was too melodramatic and never made me want to continue reading. Both the Devereux and the Cahors deserve to lose the battle and be replaced but I doubt that's how the series ends.
I'm actually reading the edition with books 3 and 4 but wanted to give this it's own review separate from that one.
I gave the first book 2 stars, which was actually generous because I had to force myself to finish it. Book two I gave three stars because it was a little bit better than the first. This one is also getting three stars, although it's really more like 3.5. It's not good enough for a 4, but better than a three.
This book has much more story and action than the first two, and I actually wanted to pick it up during some parts. I still have no emotional connection to any of the characters and I don't understand why its taking so long for the end battle to happen. There are so many characters! It is sometimes hard to remember who people are and all the point of view switching gets difficult to read. However, the story has more substance than the previous two.
All in all, I'd say skip it. I own the entire series and I don't like to give up on books so I'm pushing through to the end. If you're iffy about this book or the series, save your time and money. If you are one of the people who actually enjoyed the first two books, then go ahead and continue on with this one.
The third installment in this series shows young Holly Cathers’ struggle to hold onto all that she values. While in London, she’s shoring up her strength and power as a witch, but enemies grow nearer and stronger. To compound Holly’s problems, the Mother Coven is not as helpful as Holly needs them to be. Once again, it falls on her and her small coven to do battle, but back in America her uncle is in trouble and the entire city of Seattle is under siege.
Legacy introduces more monsters and magical elements that lead Holly and her friends into greater danger. The large battle near the end of the book is filled with suspense and drama. Some coven members are hurt, or possibly dead, but the readers won’t know for certain unless they pick up the fourth book. In other words, many loose ends are left.
Although I liked this book better than the second, I wish that certain situations had been fleshed out better. For example, the reunion between Jer and his mother is a momentous event that should have been emotionally charged, yet it was barely addressed. There were other opportunities to fully develop characters that didn’t happen, which is a shame. Still, the action scenes were ramped up sufficiently to make Legacy an entertaining read. If I had a choice, I’d go for 3-1/2 stars with this one, as it’s definitely between okay and good.
huhuhu baca ini emosi campur aduk. Kasihan kelompok sihirnya Holly dikejar-kejar kelompok sihir Deveraux dan Kelompok Sihir Tetinggi mulu >.<
Di sini awalnya rada ngebingungin. I was like--uh-oh?? Okeee Tapi pertengahan cerita malah makin seru.
Holly makin sakti.
Endingnya kereeeen...
Michael Deveraux membabibuta, memakan banyak korban. Huuuh andai Voldemort bangkit
Jujur aja aku rada aneh ama selera humor si pengarang. Kayaknya ga cocok aja humornya muncul di situasi genting, di tengah-tengah perang.
The book starts off with Holly realizing that her actions, lack of respect for others and determination to take what she wants has her coven afraid of her. This darkness carries throughout the book as she tries to get Jeraud (Jer) to accept her as his lifemate (sorry thrall). The rest of the story appears to be a doomed romance, with Holly chasing all over Jer and not understanding why her dark nature keeps him away.
If it wasn't for the book's insistence that she is a witch not a warlock I would label her as evil and call it quits. There has to be some redemption in there...
Legacy continues the story of Holly Cathers, head of the Cahors Coven and her fellow witches. With Seattle destroyed, Holly travels to England to try and garner help against the Devereauxs. She soon learns that she needs to travel to the Dreamtime to help her old family friend. I enjoyed most of this story, but the jumping around from character to character could be distracting. Overall, I enjoyed it.
This is the third book in the Wicked series. And although I liked it better than the first two books; I still don't know what to think. If I were to write anything, I would keep my review for this book the same as my review of the other books. Will I read the last two books... definately. After all, I am curious how it will all end.
A great edition to this series. The characters, as always, are great, and I love the way the author weaves different types of magic throughout the story. Also love the history of the feuding families, and how it is so perfectly interwoven into the narrative. And great cliff-hanger ended - can't wait to keep reading.
This book was good, a bit scary at times though. It was hard to put down-there was always an exciting moment at each chapter. The ending was such a cliff-hanger!
Wow, this book makes you want to scream. It has so much going on and when it ends you cant wait to pick up the next book because the ending leaves you hanging on the edge of a cliff.
This book was so difficult to follow, it jumps around so much it was hard to pay attention. Of course since I'm 3 books into a series I will pick up the next; hopefully things start to come together.
Really great book. I'm in love with the series, it keeps me captivated like there has been a spell put on me. I didn't want to put the book down!! Five stars
