I love short stories, especially well written tales of horror, so I was more than pleased when I discovered this collection.

Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I would have hoped.

On the plus side, the stories are fairly original and varied. The author has a decent writing style and his work is fairly well written.

On the downside, none of the stories were particularly memorable or really that good. I particularly enjoy short stories that offer a final twist. I don't recall any of this collection having what I would regard as a decent ending. A few of the stories I found a little confusing and some ill conceived. I also noticed quite a few typos as the book progressed.

'Violent Ends' isn't a bad book, but there are better collections out there. Overall I would have to say that I thought it was just 'okay', but not something I would bother reading again.

I enjoyed several of the short stories in this nasty little collection. Polson can get under your skin with his imagination. One story stood out as particularly disturbing: "A Most Unusual Gaffe" starring the uber-creepy Cordyceps! I've read about these nasty things before and thought they'd be good in a horror story. It was exciting seeing Polson use them.

If you like short horror fiction, give these stories a try. Recommended.
