Moppy Is Angry

Rate this book
In this book, Jane Asher explores how anger can feel and how it makes us behave. All children get angry sometimes and they will delight in the vivacious illustrations as they share Moppy's experience of this difficult emotion.

The author's note in the front of the book explains how the Moppy series is intended to "help [young children] understand and cope with their emotions." Sadly I do not feel that this book achieves that goal; the end of the story arrives with no message or explanation or even any sense of conclusion. While there was a good opportunity here to really explain emotions and both the consequences of acting in anger and that anger is natural, none of this happens within the story.

Moppy is Angry is well illustrated and a cute idea, and could be used to start a conversation with a young child about anger, but does not work as a stand alone to explaining or managing anger.
