Jackie Ivie was born and raised in a suburb outside Utah's capital, beautiful Salt Lake City. The second in a family of four daughters and one son, Jackie was constantly amusing her siblings with her invented games, escapades, and stories. And she was always reading. She would even walk the family dog, with one hand holding the leash, while the other held the ever-present book. No subject went unread, but once she discovered Historical Romances, there was no doubting her favorite genre.

Jackie has always been the busy type, rarely sitting still without being occupied in at least one activity, and usually more. When she was younger, it was nothing to find her watching television, while doing her homework, listening to music, crocheting like a madwoman, and reading, all at the same time.

After graduating, Jackie gained secure employment with a large service company and relocated with her growing family to the neighboring, sparsely-populated state of Wyoming. She then spent several years enjoying the wildlife, scenery, and open space that Wyoming is known for. In addition to writing, Jackie is an accomplished artist in several mediums, preferring mixed media. She has several pictures in print and has exhibited in art showings throughout the West. There was never anything she loved doing more than reading, however, and once she discovered the thrill involved with putting her own words and fantasies on paper there was no stopping her.

In 2001, Jackie and her family took a huge step and moved to the largest state of the nation; Alaska. Although it was her job that brought her here, Jackie has grown to love this land of amazing contrasts, breathtaking vistas, and the ever-present resident, the Alaskan moose. There's nothing else like it, and the very long days of summer lend themselves to hours and hours of energizing tasks, while the long winter nights are just right for her real love...writing.

Jackie has now written thirteen novels and is continually starting more. The thrill of writing has now been enhanced by seeing her actual story in print. Lady of the Knight is her first published work. It will be followed by Tender is the Knight scheduled for release this summer.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting much from this novella. I have read two of the books in the series so far, We are Gathered and Together to Join and I didn’t love them. Much like the other two books I have read Be Still My Heart had plot problems. These books are short so I understand that a detailed storyline is not going to happen but too many times things are mentioned and are not expanded on. This is something I have encounter in every book in this series so far.

One example of this is when Sasha cannot bare to be intimate with Stuart because she has been raped in the past. When he touches her it brings back bad memories. Totally understandable. What I had an issue with is that a few pages later Sasha is riding Stuart like a cowboy at a rodeo. Rape? What rape? This is an issue I have with a lot of romance books. Sometimes it seems that if the main character isn’t a virgin she is being punished by being a rape victim. Rape happens, it shouldn’t but it does and when done in the right way it should have a place in literature. What I hate is when rape is used to try and give a character depth or like in this case, for no real reason at all. It had no impact on the story it wasn’t discussed or really bought up again. I just cannot understand why rape is used this way in romance books.

The rest of the plot is a little thin. There isn’t much story here apart from the romance which is also a little thin. It was a rushed in the beginning and I felt like I had missed a chapter or something but I soon picked it up. I think if I had read the first book in the series before this, things would have made more sense. The writing was ok I didn’t notice anything awful or amazing about it.

The characters were a bit more interesting that the plot. There isn’t much to Sasha if I am honest, I didn’t get a real sense of personality or character with her. I didn’t love or hate her she was just there. Stuart on the other hand is a lot more interesting. I like it when authors stray away from the norm where characters are concerned, Stuart isn’t some muscular smooth talking sex god. He is a too tall, too chatty fairly normal guy who has ADHD. For the most part this really worked for me, it was nice to have a character who was completely different from the norm and I ended up really liking him.

Be Still me Heart isn’t a masterpiece and there were things in it that peeved me ever so slightly but it is a short, easy and fairly entertaining read.

After reading the first book I was intrigued and had to find out what this series was all about. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed Be Still My Heart more than Knight After Night (the first book).
The main characters: Sasha Stroyanovich and Dr. Stuart Emerson Findlay. They were delightful!
Sasha is an assassin, hired to take out a high profile mark, but her plans are ruined when another hit-man arrives and kills her mark. After catching the competition she goes in search of the man who hired him and find more than she bargained for.
Dr. Findlay was a nervous wreck, self medicating with some Scotch when a beautiful woman appears in his office. Knowing she is too good to be true, he embraces the dream, complete with a vampire female, a private jet, a luxury suit in Monte Carlo, etc. But his dream quickly fades into reality when he is captured and Sasha must save him from death.
My favorite thing about this book, the woman is the vampire and she is going after her mate, even though her man believes she is nothing but a delusion brought on by a mental break down.
However, there was something troubling with the plot, the same issue I had with the first book, there isn't much information given on the Vampire Assassin League itself. So, the vampires are assassins...who do they work for? How do they get their marks? What does the linage that was discussed in the first book have to do with the second? What happened to the hunters in the first book and why were they not mentioned in the second? With the questions aside, these books have been fast paced, fun, and funny.

Sasha is a hired vampire assassin, sent to kill a man. But as she is getting to it someone else gets her target. So Sasha tracks down the person who was responsible for taking out her kill. Boom! Stuart the man responsible for getting someone to take out her guy is her mate. What is Sasha to do with this? Well first , Sasha kidnaps the guy, and then she starts making out with him. While Stuart is thinking this is a really good fantasy . Now all Sasha has to do is turn him into a vampire. How will Stuart take all this? And what will Sasha' s enemies do to him, once they find out that Stuart is her mate?

Certainly enjoyed this surprisingly romp into the hilarious. First time for this author and it was a treat. Dr. Stuart Emerson Findlay, doctor of philosophy, decided to have his secretary hold all his calls. Retires to his office and proceedes to enjoy his scotch. Suiddenly he notices the most attractive women he has ever seen sitting in the chair in front of his desk. Of course, when he asks how she got into his locked office and she explained she picked his lock. It just keeps getting better as you read more of the story. Sasha, the assissin vampire, who has broken into his office discovers she has found her life mate. Of course, she turns him into a vampire also. Stuart is positive everythingthat is happening is a dream and decides what the hell, just go along and enjoy himself. You're in for a short ride into enjoyment gone wild.

This book was better than the first in the series. I had issues when the writing style but for the most part it was enjoyable enough to finish in short time. If I could give it a 2 and half stars I would have but I had to round up to 3 stars.

This book was a little bit better than the first in the series but still not all that good. The author has yet to provide any background on this Vampire Assassin League. And while there is actually more interaction between the main characters in this store (vs the first), she leaves out a major part of story in never disclosing why Stuart put out a hit on someone.

EXCERPT

"Why did you do it?"

Stuart looked up from contemplation of the platinum-wrapped onyx cufflinks that seemed to match her ear studs.  She'd taken some of her hair down, or her French Twist was slipping, and she had one stiletto dangling off her toes.

"You don't want to know," he answered.

"Try me."

"Well, I definitely don't want to say."

"Stuart."

She lingered on his name, making it drip with longing.  He jumped.  His heart kicked into motion within his chest.  He moved his hands and rubbed the palms along his legs.

"Shouldn't you already know this?"

"How?"

"Since I'm imagining all this, I shouldn't have to delve into things that I don't want to.  Simple."

"You still think you're dreaming?"

"Hell no.  I went right past that to full psychotic break-down. That's what I think this is."

A little smile touched her lips, his heart kicked him again, and Stuart gulped.

"I'm flattered," she replied finally.

"What?"

"No one has ever told me I'm dream-worthy before."

"That's because you're too busy killing them.  They can't get it out."

*Her smile faded.  Her lips set and she glared at him.  All of which was the normal reaction he got from women.  He hoped that didn't mean the dream was fading.  He wanted to enter the casino in Monte Carlo with her on his arm.  And she had promised him time alone in the suite, too.

This is the second novella of what (I think) is the start of the Vampire Assassin Series because it is titled, “The Beginning”.

The premise of this one starts out with Dr. Stuart Findlay and in walks vampire assassin, Sasha. She hates men in general but plans to kill this particular one because (and I don’t quite follow), he ordered the hit that took out her target (but his assassin got to the guy before her) so it appears she is mad about that. Then of course, she realizes they are mates and steals away with him in the night and they head to her next assignment where Stuart gets himself into some trouble whereby Sasha attempts to rescue him.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first one I read. In this one, the vampire is the heroine, Sasha, and the human/mate is hero, Stuart. Stuart is annoying! He talks too much and at the beginning (and throughout), he has terrible self-esteem (not something I like in my heroes). He also thinks the entire time that he is dreaming or having a psychotic break. I am not even sure at what point he decides this is all real. I didn’t feel much of a connection between those two.

Also there were two references to the assassin who killed Hussein. Hussein is a mark in book and the hero of this book is the assassin who killed Huseein. Sasha makes two comments about torturing this guy and also talks about killing him. So does that mean that, Thoran, from book one, is dead and/or tortured or is the author referring to someone else? I don’t quite get it, but I liked Thoran better than Sasha or Stuart.

In book 2 of the Vampire Assassin League, Sasha Stroyanovich, is one killer Vampire. Not only is she an assassin but she is smoking hot as well. She hates all men until she meets the man destined to be her Mate.

Dr. Stuart Emerson Findlay has horrible luck with women. He tends to send them running after the first date. He is loaded and easy on the eyes but has the tendency to be very argumentative and wants things his way.

I really enjoyed book two in this series. I really didn’t know what to expect from Sasha and Stuart….I def wasn’t expecting what I got. But I loved it. The whole DREAM cracked me up. I do believe Stuart was my fav character in this book. But Sasha was awesome as well! I started book 3 today and am very excited to continue this series.

I thought this book was fun enough. Interesting characters and a fun plot. It did seem rushed, and I feel that if it were slowed down a bit it could be much better. Its not something I would rush to recommend, but I wouldn't tell folks not to read it either. It was a way to spend a short afternoon.

I like these books when I want a quick read without committing myself to anything long. Some are better than others and this is one of the ones I really enjoyed. I wasn't sure at first, but the characters really grew on me and I sometimes go back and re-read this one. Stuart thinks it's all his imagination, but soon finds out that Sasha isn't just the woman of his dreams but is his in reality.

I liked this book better than the first one I read because I knew what to expect. Very short with the couple meeting, having sex, and falling in love within hours it seems.

But I liked reading from the female vampires point of view and both characters were interesting and funny.

This short story was actually kind of funny. Stuart and Eve were so mismatched. She was super hot and sexy vampire assassin and Stuart was a nerd who rambled on and on. His character cracked me up.

A bit better than the first thankfully, same story different situation - reading the synopsis beforehand give clues as to whats going on - otherwise I don't think these are my cup-of-tea even though I like vampire stories.

I just love a female kick'in butt and taking control. This was funny, sexy, and even a little dangerous. If you want a quick paranormal romance this is a great series to get into. I can't wait to read the next and find out what Ivie has in store for her next assassin!

Who doesn't love a Vampire book with the lead character being a female Vamp??? Sasha is the total package---lethal but beautiful---on in one! And what a character Dr. Stuart Findlay turns out to be. Enjoyed this fast paced, action book and can't wait for more! ;)

Finding love, meeting a vampire, becoming a vampire. Stuart was dreaming. This books was amazing. Nothing like a psychotic breakdown to make a book keep you on the edge of your seat. Or was it a breakdown? Find out for yourself.

The Assassin League is totally to die for. Sasha has found her mate in Stuart. It seems that they are always arguing. Mostly Stuart is. He just loves to do it. Come join them when the keep getting into trouble. Even Vaughn finds the whole thing up roaringly amusing.
