Hello, my name is Zoe and I am going to review the book Coaching successfully(the authors are Jhon Eaton and Roy Johnson). This book teaches you new things and it teaches you how to coach people. This book is mainly about teaching you to coach but I also learned a lot of things that can help me with my work every day. I do think that this book will help me more when I am older. The book has 3.3 stars, I think that this is an accurate rating because this book does have a lot of good advice but a lot of them are things that people tell you often when you ask for help. I liked that it is easy to read and it is very organized. This book didn’t exactly change me as a reader but I did get a lot of information that can help me with my job but mostly with my leadership. I actually got inspired to be a council at my school while reading this book. I would recommend this book to whoever wants to start leading and coaching peers or employees. It is also really short (it has around 70 pages) and it is easy to read, I read it in a day or two. This was my review for this book.
This little booklet is in my personal library that I probably picked up at an airport kiosk to read on a travel date. At that time, I had people reporting to me and was always looking for help on what to do to improve their performance as well as my performance as a manager. Several good points are in the book and key acronyms like "SMART" goals to help the process. I will probably pass on to a friend to see if there is anything of value in the manager role that she finds herself in currently.
I didn't like it at all; there is something about it that was so annoying and distracting, I didn't want to finish it but I did since it's quite short. Perhaps I felt so because it's too simplified, too many distracting graphics, charts and text boxes- I know they were meant to be helpful but somehow they weren't..
I THINK THAT THIS BOOK IS VERY GOOD AND USEFUL BUT MOSTLY WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO TEACH SOMEONE, I AM NOT TEACHING SOMEONE RIGHT NOW BUT IT WILL HELP ME A LOT WHEN SOMEONE NEEDS HELP OR TECHNIQUES THAT ARE USEFUL TO COACH SUCCESSFULLY. I WOULD GIVE THIS BOOK 3.5 STARS BECAUSE IT HAS A GOOD THEME BUT JUST IF YOU USE IT RIGHT.
The nice thing about this book is that it is practical book from the start to the end. This book basically has practical techniques to help managers know how to develop their staff through coaching, how to be able to finish projects on time, make a full use of training, and solve problems and conflicts.
The writing of this book is really clear and straightforward.
It's a sufficient guide for managers to coach their employees.
