This series isn’t really a new series but a continuation of a prior series by this author. I’m not really a fan of having to meet a bunch of characters who were clearly huge parts of previous books or got their own HEA in a previous series. It’s frustrating, and authors should really let go of past characters occasionally instead of alienating new readers by pulling this kind of crap.

The story was fine besides a few parts. Why was the other woman on the spaceship (clearly a past heroine of this author’s) such a self-righteous b?? I absolutely hated her and I’m so glad I didn’t read her book or else I would have hated the idea of her being such a c**t in this book even more. Hate it when authors ruin past MCs by making them act like psychos in future books!

I’m going to probably give the next book a try because the writing itself was pretty good. If the heroine of this book turns into a psycho loon, I’m out.

Totally safe
No virgins
No scenes with OM/OW
Mild OM drama/jealousy
If you don’t like betraying body syndrome, this book isn’t for you. Thankfully, all that bullshit ends after they slept together the first time.

This book was recommended as a good starting point as a branch from the Dragon Lord series. This was probably a mistake, as a good part of the book either made reference to past events, or explained a bunch of back-story.

The writing was solid but there were some phrases that I had to read twice as they were poorly constructed. The scifi was interesting, but a bit jumbled. The family story was solid, probably the best part of the book. The sex was minimal.

More of a 3.5. Read while sitting in a waiting room.

The h has lost a century so is understandably out of sorts. She also is set on vengeance. Now why no one was able to look up the person who wronged her and tell if he was alive was never addressed. Nor was Rick’s odd behavior. Instead, Rick is acting weird, Evan is out of sorts about whether his feelings are his and whether it’s just because he made an intense emphatic connection, and everyone is hiding the fact that when the h did give in to her grief, he was overwhelmed and almost died. Mei is -on the rare appearance - downright obnoxious towards the h over it. Death is apparently optional now.

Also, why has nobody corrected the tense in the narrative? I’ve read something like 10 books from this series and they all have random present tense sentences in places they shouldn’t be.

I got this book in a deal from Amazon BookSends. It's part of a series. I believe that the books should probably be read in order because in reading this story I felt that there was much background that I didn't know going into it even though the author did her best to give some background information. I didn't feel connected to these characters. They lacked the depth that would have been there had I read the earlier books in the series. And there was so much sorrow and angst in the story that it wasn't an enjoyable read. I didn't laugh, I didn't cry, it just just didn't click with me. So I'm not planning on getting the rest of the series to read even though this was well written. It just didn't make me want to read the rest of the books. Just so that you know, there are smexy times that were well written and didn't consume the plot.

This book frustrated me from the get-go. Most frustrating was how much was NOT HAPPENING in this supposedly action-packed futuristic book. There is a great promise of it. I saw it in the description of other books and knew this series was a spin-off from those other series. I thought to test out this author and see where she stands and regret it immediately. There is a likelihood that this book is just one dud in a series of enjoyable stories, but I seriously doubt that. The H even describes how amazing this other character Sam is that has her own story and this amazing adventure they had, but I think that is all it is. An exciting-sounding quick summation but when the reader actually goes to read the whole story it's just a lot of nothing happening and lamenting on their circumstances like this book here.

In the end, this is what the plot:

And this is me as the reader waiting for anything remotely significant to start happening in this lamenting book:

In the end, this book was just a lot of pining and lamenting. The characters are: lamenting their vague future as prophesied by some oracle or whatnot; H is lamenting his powers that are giving him advantages and disadvantages as all powers do; H is lamenting meeting this beautiful woman that is in grief over the loss of her world and time; H is lamenting her lamenting her loss of time and family; The whole crew is lamenting her loss; the h is lamenting her present circumstances and thinks it would be better to go back to her frozen world and die there with the rest of her people; H is lamenting his attraction to the fragile woman; H is lamenting that the h is not adapting to her present circumstances; H is lamenting his past and loss of his sister; the crew is lamenting having to share their very crowded ship and small compartments with yet another person they went out of their way to rescue; H is lamenting the h is not choosing to wear the "breaches" the only other female on the ship "went out of her way" to procure (ahem asked the computer to make fo perhaps?) for the h and she is showing her ingratitude by not being used to wearing such clothes. On and on it went. The whole plot revolved around the characters finding a new thing to add to their lamenting and thus curse their fate for how cruel it is. Eye roll.

I mean it has been theorized how hard it would be to bring a past person up to speed in any future time and getting them adjusted to all the changes they missed. There would be definite challenges but those can be used to bring the reader of such a story up to speed on this fictitious future as well as the character from the past. And yet this story and the way the author approached it here was just so excruciatingly slow and put the emphasis on all the wrong things. It was all about the sexual tension between the MCs that came out of nowhere and just barely there glimpses on the world they are in and how the h from the past is overcoming the strangest of the new time. And that was just painfully boring.

Oh jeez, this girl was the most princessy of all princesses. I mean I get it, the girl lost her family, her people, and her entire life. It's a lot. It’s a big shock and she is due to a meltdown and just when she is supposed to reexamine her feelings on that she goes and overthinks her involvement with this new dude in her life. She kind of just attaches herself to him like a lost kitten and he adopts her cuz she is very much pitiful and needing protection. And then on the basis of that their relationship builds. I am not a fan of this type of relationship development. She is lost in a new future and world and has to discover her place in it. And then there is him, her new protector. So to start off they are not on equal footing. She is this lost puppy and everyone else in the ship mistrust her for some reason or another, just for being there when they went out of their way to rescue her. I mean she is basically harmless in every possible way, as much as a declawed kitten can be and yet they are just looking at her out of the side of their eyes cuz she can hurt their precious crew member. I mean he is kind of the one who is hovering and always around her in case she needs help and so she gets attached to him and now she is this enemy that poses a threat of some kind…

I found these characters and their plot kind of too ridiculous to take seriously. I mean they are in space and have this whole idea of chivalry and ladies and gentlemen etiquette and I forget what else, but all of that felt poorly integrated into this world. It was not properly modernized for the idea of space travel and it was just too kind of plopped in there for some reason to make the main characters all noble and rightly as opposed to any other possible villains that might pop up.

I don't think me and this author see eye to eye when it comes to creating a new world and bringing their characters to the surface. She is all about erotica and pining about the character's attraction from the get-go, and that is just wrong and narrow-minded. I wish things could be developed better and I don't think any different attention is paid to any of the other books and series. So once this painful book is over I will be avoiding this author from now on.

DNF - I found the writing horrible. It feels as though English is not the author’s first language. Book also displays a flair for hyperbole.

Unique ideas. Sweet romance. Good narration.
His voice fit the story well. I’d recommend listening. Josselyn’s family was murdered and she has been stuck in a frozen state for over 100 years; it’s brutal what happened to her. Evan is part of a space crew that happens upon the home world of Josselyn; they rescue her, but things don’t go quite that well. Josselyn isn’t used to how things are after being frozen for over 100 years and all the pain from the murders of her family feels so fresh to her; she’s dealing with a lot. She wants revenge for her family and is in for some
surprises. Evan being an empath was an interesting idea. There’s a nice connection between Josselyn and Evan; I would’ve liked a little more on the romance front, but it was still heart touching. Loved the space aspect! Space romances are one of my favs. The author takes the story in some interesting ways. I was entertained the whole time. Looking forward to reading more in this series!

I was surprised (happily) about the world building and an interest plot. This was fast paced, it still felt like we got a good look at the world and events. For me, the romance aspects became a little sidelined as I was curious where things were going to go. Had a lot of fun reading and really enjoyed it. It's an easy read to get into and a fun time.

Cursed Forever?👹 This Book is Cursed!
ADULT Alpha Alien Male Sci-fi🚀 Romance💕

I had a really hard time getting past the first part of this novel, which is all buddy dialogue between a pirate ship's🚀 crew of various alien males , no action. It takes the author almost 20% of the book to even get to identifying their mission.

Their mission to is to go to Ice Complex Five, an icy prison planet🌍 and rescue a supposed prisoner, a woman💃. She has been literally frozen in time....

ARC Provided by Booksprout 🌱
This ebook was $4.99 on Amazon📚 at the time of this review. No KU.
Opinions expressed here are entirely my own fault!
This is a previously published novel, not sure why the author put it back out for ARC reviews.

I have read a few of the Qurilixen world 🌎 novels but was unfamiliar with these particular characters. The story was very slow moving, but the love story was very emotional and drawn out. I expected a fast paced sci fi🚀 and this wasn't it.

The Space Lords is a crew of misfits, who found each other through a series of adventures and are now family. We met them in the Var Lords series and they are now led by Prince Jarek and his mate, Mei.

Evan is an empath, which makes his life a tad...complicated. His world and his family were destroyed and when he met his former captain, Sam, she became his family. When Mei comes across a holocube with directions to a pardoned prisoner they decide to do the decent thing and go rescue her.

Just over a century ago Josselyn and her family were betrayed by a member of their inner circle. The last thing she recalls was her despair at realising she was the last of the House of Craven. When she is found by the crew, she has been frozen and when she thaws out she is distraught that all she knew is now gone. She goes onboard the ship and the do their best to help her acclimatise.

Why do she and Evan feel such a connection? Why is Evan savagely affected by her moods?

Wonderfully evocative writing when dealing with the trauma survived by Josselyn. The attraction between her and Evan is palpable and of course the sex is out of this world!! Fab read and looking forward to the next in the series.

Evan Cormier is an empath and one of a crew of space pirates on a spaceship called The Conqueror, travelling from place to place, trying to find items or relics to trade to make money to fund their travels. The other members of the crew are Captain Jarek and his wife Princess Mei along with their baby son Parker, the ship’s pilot Rick, Lochlann, Jackson, and Dev, as well as brothers Lucien and Viktor. Five of the crew members had been cursed by an ancestral spirit, Zhang An, who was very powerful and would have just cursed Rick after his comments to her and about her, as he tried to distract her from Jarek, but as Rick continued to make comments about An, she turned and cursed all the crew members in front of her that day. The curse mentioned the fact their road to happiness would be very rocky for them all and they would find their love hidden within the mystery of the five elements. One element for each of them and if they don’t recognise that fate is pulling them together, they could lose it and be alone forever! Evan has tried reading everything he could find about the five Lintianese elements, in an effort to understand the curse and hope to figure out which element related to him and what to look for in his love match, if he ever found them. Evan is already alone in the world and the fear of never having someone else to love and make a family with, is haunting him! The space ship they use used to be a Federation ship and Mei escapes from her husband when she is arguing with him, by exploring all the air vents. She comes down having discovered an old holo-box in one space and they get together in the common room to see what was on it.

The device is over fifty years old and it holds a message from a General Stephens about a prisoner in a prison on Florencia’s Fifth Moon. The planet and its numerous moons have long been abandoned and the planet is classed as dead. That moon was an actually ice prison and apparently prisoners were encased in blocks of ice. When they had to abandon the prison, they were unable to remove, even though they had been pardoned. A list of prisoners that should be released was attached to the message, stating they should be escorted to the Rifflen base in the V Quadrant. Jackson wondered if there were prisoners still at the prison, because the message had never been received as it should have been. They all agree to go on a rescue mission, which will break up the monotony of space travel. What they find shocks them, as most of the people in ice seem to be normal village people, not criminals, and they have been killed with phaser blasts or smashed to pieces. They split up to see what they can find and if anyone is still intact and awaiting being thawed. It is Evan that finds Lady Josselyn of the House of Craven, who was betrayed by someone her family had taken in decades before and given a home, only for him to join the Federation and lead a group to her family’s castle, killing her father and her brothers! She ended up as the last survivor and at the mercy of the very man, Jack, who betrayed them all. She had hoped to die with honour, like her family’s motto, having been trained to fight, just like her brothers. But instead, she had spent over a hundred years frozen in a block of ice! When they start the defrost process, Evan immediately gets hit by all of her anger and pain. It overwhelms him, but he can’t look away from her, neither can Rick.

The only choice left to her now is to avenge her dead family members, so she can then join her family in the afterlife. She demands to speak to their captain, as she needs to warn her mother, who had been away when the attack had happened. But she doesn’t realise how long it has been since the attack and how long she had been imprisoned and left frozen. She doesn’t believe so much time has passed and Evan gets asked to help her make sense of what has happened to her, but his crew mates don’t understand the toll it will take on him, as he experiences her grief and confusion. It reminds him of his own losses and he can never forget anything of what he experiences. They show her footage from their own cameras as they explored the moon site, to help her understand a bit more. Evan gives up his cabin for her to stay in and tries to avoid her after that. Her emotions are too much for him to handle. Being so close to Josselyn when she was emoting strongly, has a deadly effect on Evan, but he tried to avoid her learning he had psychic abilities, not wanting strangers to know of his ability. She asks Evan for protection and help to discover what happened to this man Jack, who was responsible for the death of her family and others. They get closer and even though he worries he might die when he climaxes with her, he survives that experience. He agrees to help her, but a medical scan shows worrying results for her and her future. She doesn’t feel this time period is where she should be and it seems that fate agrees with her. The crew stop to refuel and Rick accompanies her around the space port, whilst the rest of the crew get on with restocking and other business. It seems the crew know more about allowing her to find her destiny than she thought and there are some surprising twists still to come as she seeks her revenge. An unusual familial connection is revealed and a few more surprises are still to come. Whether Evan and Josselyn can survive to the end of this tale, the odds are pretty short, but miracles can happen and when fate decides your time is up, your time is up! An interesting series of twists and turns, with an ongoing connection of other characters into the next tale. I can’t wait to read them all.

I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

The book starts off with being on one of the moons in one of the Earth settlements- Florencia’s 5th moon. There Josselyn Craven fights inside her family’s castle as the Florencian government is overtaken by Federation policies and a rebellion takes place. She sees her father fall as well as her three older brothers. Her youngest brother, at 12, Rainier, she doesn’t know what happened to. Her mother is off planet, so she survived. Joss is captured and she believes that there is only one thing left- to die well. I was heartbroken as I read this and more. They were betrayed by someone they had taken in, but because they didn’t treat him as family, he traded them for money & power- General Jack Stephens.

103 years later, a device is found on The Conqueror, by Princess Mei, wife to Captain Jarek who is a Var Prince from Quirilixen. Evan is one of the crew and his power is telepathy as well as empathy. Since Mei had just had a baby, she was out of sorts. Evan’s past is also heartbreaking. The majority of the crew are males who have been cursed due to the fact that the pilot, Ricky Hayes, angered Zhang An, an ancestral spirit to Mei’s Imperial family. Rick is a bit annoying but also hilarious and outrageous. Lochlann, Jackson & Dev & Evan were those cursed. Each of them would find their “one” who corresponded to one of the 5 elements- fire, earth, wood, water & metal. Lucian & Viktor are also part of the crew, but they’d stayed on The Conqueror. In the box that Mei found, are release orders for prisoners on one of the Ice Moons of Florencia. They go, and although they aren’t really pirates, they do scavenge stuff. Seeing what happened to the populace and what was left was devastating. I cried a lot during this book, but then again, I’ve a soft heart, lol. They find only one person that hasn’t anything broken on them, and free her by thawing her. It’s Joss. A lot of misunderstandings, mischief and mayhem happen after that until everything is sorted out. However, whenever Joss has really strong feelings it causes problems for Evan. When Joss wakes, she is frantic to find her mother, believing that everything that had happened, did only moments ago. The pain she goes through is just so bad and heartbreaking and Evan can understand it, because he went thru similar things. Mei does some really crazy things in this one. She usually makes me laugh or roll my eyes at her antics. I don’t know how Jarek handles her. Rick always has a look on his face that bothers me throughout the book when he looks at Lady Joss.

The book goes from crazy to omg and holy cow nuts. At light speed on LSD. lol. So much happens in the book that I sat there chewing on my nails and having my AC on high the whole time I was reading. The book was fun, funny, exhilarating, crazy, emotional, heartbreaking, steamy, romantic, mind boggling, and an all around epic roller coaster ride of emotions. There was a bunch of stuff that I now have questions about which will hopefully be answered in the next book, which I can’t wait for. I love the fight scenes.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Gripping First Story of the Space Lords’ Series

Audiobook Review:
I've read most of the Space Lords series by this author, and I’ve completely enjoyed every book. It was fun to hear the space pirates' voices as performed by this narrator, and he did a great job giving each man a very distinctive voice. I was particularly looking forward to hearing Mr. “Never-Takes-Anything-Seriously” Rick's voice, and the narrator was able to capture his playfulness. I particularly enjoyed the accents of the captain and the twins. The narrator's straightforward, no-nonsense voice worked great for most of the book, but I didn't think it played well for the intimate scenes. This book starts dramatically, where we see our heroine in dire straits in the past. The crew of The Conqueror (i.e., the Space Lords) discovers her in an absolutely horrifying situation where she's been put in stasis during a massacre at what we later find out is her parents' palace. She's thinking she's just only been “out” for a day or perhaps a week, not realizing that decades have gone by and that everyone she knows is no longer in existence.

I like the hero, Evan. Don't be fooled by his cover image. He's actually an empath who can read people. And when certain people have strong emotions, like our heroine, he can be hugely affected by them. In fact, when she has her first meltdown as she starts to realize the situation she's in, it nearly kills him, dropping him to the floor when his heart literally stops. He only survives by the quick thinking of his crewmates and the medical technology they have on board.

Yet, despite the dangers, he's very attracted to her and dreams of getting jiggy with it. He wonders more than once if they actually became intimate… would the strength of her passion itself literally kill him? What a concept! I've enjoyed literary sojourns with the Space Lords, and my enjoyment was only enhanced by having this first book of the series read to me by a talented narrator. If you have read none of this series (or listened to it) and enjoy well-written romantic speculative fiction as I do, you will probably enjoy this delightful, steamy story and audiobook as much as I did.

I received a promotional code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Surprisingly entertaining

I've not read a lot of sci-fi romance nor am I a fan of historical romance. This book was somewhat of a cross between both. I was given an audiobook code to try it out, and this review is purely my own honest opinion.

The Hero of the book is an empath from a distant planet traveling on a 'pirate' spaceship scavenging everywhere they can. The Heroine is a princess on a moon colony based off of a medieval theme. Here's where it gets really interesting... the colony was overtaken 100 years and turned into a stone prison where all the prisoners are frozen. When the pirate ship lands on it, they discover it had been completely abandoned and destroyed... save for one person, and we can guess who that person is!
From there, it gets really involved with more action and mysteries to resolve. There's more royalty characters as well as some hard-nosed pirate crew members even though for the most part they are pretty tame on the ship since then major focus is on the main couple.
As a first book in a series, it definitely got me intrigued into the series although I would have liked a little more emphasis and acknowledgement on the theme behind what ties the books together in the series.
As an audiobook, it was different than what I'm used to. This was my first time listening to the narrator and I wasn't sure he fit the story. After a couple of chapters, the story line drew me in and I the voice seemed to develop into a better match for the story.
My interest is not only peaked to this series, but now I'm going to check out other sci-fi themed romance books and authors.

This one is tough to review without spoilers! This story had an unusual premise. Lady Josselyn has been a prisoner in a Federation prison for years. Princess Mei, the wife of the ship's captain, has found an old hologram hidden in the ceiling of their spaceship. Intrigued by the message on the hologram about prisoner release, Captain Jarek and his crew of space pirates decide to check it out. Believing that the prison had been abandoned, they are stunned by what they find. Evan, one of the crew members is an empath. He and the pilot, Rick, find Josselyn and release her. Evan feels Josselyn's emotions acutely. He starts to fall for her, but isn't sure if what he's feeling is true or a product of his empathic abilities. Josselyn is attracted to Evan, but is confused about her new surroundings, furious and grieving over her imprisonment and her family's fate, and is bent on revenge. Those emotions are so powerful, they threaten Evan's very health! Evan can't bear to leave Josselyn, but could being with her literally kill him? Will Josselyn's thirst for revenge land her back in prison and keep her from Evanr? If you like fantasy adventure, engaging characters,, romance with lots of steam, and a plot with some neat twists, you'll enjoy this book. It's part of a series that you'll enjoy, as each story builds on the previous one and includes the likeable characters from this story.

3.25 stars.
I liked it, it was a bit darker than I expected, there's a lot of grieving, but not enough to make me sympathize. Evan is (apparently) super sad about his sister, but he only mentioned her like three times, counting when he told the tragic story to Joss. Maybe if I had read the two books from the Var series he appears on, I would believe him. Haven't read those, I just can't believe his angst. An Josselyn didn't seem to grieve too much about her family either. Yet again, I didn't see her most of the time, we're just told she's there, and when we get a glimpse of her thoughts she's way more focused on Evan than on her dead family. So her "need"for vengeance made no sense, since she didn't seem to care that much about her family.
Also, the rest of the crew are not that interesting and come out as bullies some times, specially Mai (if that's her personality in her book also, I don't want to read it). And of course, the one we see the least of in this story is the MC for the next book. I don't care about the guy, he's on the page like twice.
I didn't feel any romance, it was more like lust, they barely talk to each other, but after two sexy times they're in love. Evan spent two freaking weeks avoiding her, for chrissake! That's like double the time he actually spent with her before "falling in love".

I first discovered this crew of space pirates in The Bound Prince (Book 3 of The Lords of Var) when Captain Samantha kidnapped Prince Falke. Her crew was an intriguing and hilarious group of men who captured my interest. They were also a big part of The Pirate Prince (Book 5 Lords of Var) Prince Jarek and Princess Mei’s story.

Evan Cormier the empath and best friend to Captain Sam was a character I definitely wanted more of and was excited to come across his book. While Evan and his crew mates appear in the other series, this book can be read as a standalone; however, if you’ve read the books I mentioned above you will have a greater appreciation for this book

This book has a little bit of everything and it kept my attention from beginning to end. The characters are charismatic and engaging, this book sets the stage for each of the crew to have their book as they search for their lady loves and attempt to break the ominous curse cast upon them in The Pirate Prince by an ancestor of Princess Mei.

This book is one of my favorites by this author and I believe this future books in this series will quickly join it on that list.

“Somehow, when he was near she’d felt safe.”

Book one in a new (for me) Qurilixen series, Space Lords. Evan, who we’ve met in the past, is a member of Jarek’s crew. He’s an empath. Their ship discovers Josselyn, who’s been in stasis for over a hundred years, on a frozen, abandoned moon circling a dead planet.

I’m not going to summarize the plot. That’s why you read the book. I will say there’s a lot going on and I was glued to my tablet, reading the entire thing in one day. And because this is a romance, there’s obviously a love story between Evan and Josselyn.

Now for the truth. While you can probably stumble through this book as a complete stand alone a lot is going to be difficult to understand. The reality is, this series is not for newcomers to Michelle’s Qurilixen world. This book and the series are meant to be read after the Dragon Lords series and Lords of the Var series. Also, based on this book and the blurbs for the rest of the books in this series, the same is true for the other four Space Lords books. Not that this is a hardship. I’m crazy about these series and ready to try to find a way to go to Qurilixen, asap!.

The attraction between her and Evan is palpable and of course the sex is out of this world!

HIS FROST MAIDEN is the first installment in the Lords Space series in the on-going Qurilixen World Novels by Michelle Pillow. The characters and the world descriptions seem to come alive while you read.

This is a fun and steamy story of two people from vastly different worlds and a lifetime apart fall deeply in love. Both have suffered unbelievable disasters. Can they survive a driving need for revenge and the emotions created from the memories and sorrow.

Evan Cormier is a psychic empath and space pirate aboard the ship The Conqueror captained by Jarek,  brother to the Var King. When an old holograph is found hidden on their ship it tells of war and prisoners to be pardoned and some may still need to be released. Remembering old rumors and stories, the crew decides to check it out.

Lady Josselyn of the House of Craven has been betrayed - she is supposed to be dead with the rest of her family. Somehow she's alive.

I recommend this book and the series to anyone who likes fantasy romance on an intergalactic planet and some steamy and fun reading.

This book is the first in another spinoff series by Michelle M. Pillow, this one going out to space and centers around a bunch of space pirate males who have been told how they will find love when a ghost curses them. This book focuses on Evan, who is a psychic empath who meets Lady Josselyn from a prison planet where she was left frozen after most of her family has been wiped out. This book reads a bit like a melodrama with death, dishonor, duty and desire all fighting for time in the story. Of course Ms. Pillow’s writing ability combines all of these and produces a great gripping tale that kept me up half the night. The thing that I love best about her books is that even in this same universe that she has created the stories and couples are so different. There is so much history and details written in that Ms. Pillow makes me invested in these books because it all makes them seem real. These are not cookie cutter romances but full fledged romance adventurers. I highly recommend that you read them in order but you can just start anywhere like I did and have no trouble jumping into the story. Enjoy.

This was book 1 of a new series and I enjoyed it very much. Lacy Josselyn was betrayed by the family’s friend Jack and everyone was killed and she was set in stone and left on the icy prison planet while her home planet Florencian was destroyed. Evan Cormier is a psychic empath and is one of the crew as a space pirate and when the Captain Jarek wife Mel finds a hologram showing the place where a female was left to die and so they go and investigate and Evan and pilot find a female set in stone and take her back to there ship to thaw her out and when she wakes her name is Lady Josselyn and that she was betrayed by Jack and she wants revenge for her parents death but what she doesn’t see is Evan who rescued her and he feels every emotion she is feeling and the connection that is between growing between them. Josselyn is attracted to Evan but she isn’t sure why and cannot be distracted from her path. Both of them have issues that they must either work through or leave in the past to maybe have a future together.

"...fate is not clear. If you do not recognize it, you will lose it and be forever alone."

Evan has been cursed, and with the ability to feel others emotions, and remember events with crystal clarity, this curse is haunting him.

Josselyn doesn't know which way is up -- and who can blame her. Would you believe people claiming you were imprisoned, in stone, on an ice planet, for decades, and seemingly forgotten about? She's determined to uncover the truth, about her so-called rescuers, what really happened to her and her family, she is not going to blindly accept spaceships and aliens.

This done in one, stand alone quick read has both interesting world building and characters, exploring the follies of youth, how different people cope with the sins of their past, and reconcile themselves with painful truths that are hard to accept.

With an interesting crew on the ship where a lot of the story takes place, this story establishes a lot of characters that would be fun/interesting to see again, including Violette.

This story takes place in the Quilixen series except it involves space pirates and a set of moons that were inhabited mostly by humans. Once again the federation is stepping in to control and decimate a people so they can claim their territory. Josselyn is from the past and when someone close to her betrays their family many are killed or put in an icy prison. When Evan and his crewmates on their ship stumble across an holograpic device they decide to investigate. They find only one surviving person in her icy prison. She is rescued and thawed and from there the adventure begins. This is a story of vengeance, growing love and facing and letting go of your past tragedy so you can truly live your future. Along the way there are adventures and the introduction of new characters. Will Evan and Josselyn be able to make peace with their pasts and recognize their love for each other before its too late. Or will their future be one of loneliness and death. Check this story out to see.
