I have some concerns about featuring a dog who is fed chocolate chip cookies (and who consequently ends up with a decayed tooth) to illustrate what can happen if too much sugar is consumed. The young audience for this book might get the impression that chocolate can be consumed by pets--a dangerous practice. I usually find the Looking After Me series very reliable for presenting health information in narrative form to early primary students. While the other information in this text is appropriate, the framing device about the dog is just not appropriate.
