This is an informational ABC book that has a characteristic about Oregon for each letter of the alphabet. It has a simple sentence for each letter, but then also includes a few paragraphs of detail on the characteristics of each letter. The paragraphs add depth to this book, and I think that it would be a great book for fourth graders studying Oregon. I could use this book as a read aloud in class or as a resource for them when studying the history of Oregon. It could be useful for students to then make their own ABC book about Oregon, modeled after this one, but with different characteristics.

Reading the alphabet poem by itself is disappointing -- I assumed the side text would be too complex for my kiddos, so I skipped them and found the book very uninteresting. But I re-read it on my own, read the side text, and find it far more interesting now. Despite some numbers and references to location/things kids wouldn't kid, it's also not too complex. Many of the side-bars could be read to young children.

I just found out that every state has their own alphabet book! I thought that was cool. It would be good for me to gain a bit more knowledge of Oregon. This book would be a fun way to do that!

This book talks about all the wildlife and things of nature that are found in Oregon. It also gives you a bunch of fun facts and lets you know more in depth about each of the things.
