Until 1989, South African-born Michael Brown was living what he had called a blissfully unconscious life as a music journalist. He then developed an acutely painful neurological condition for which conventional medicine had neither cure nor relief. This caused him to set out on what became an odyssey of self-healing. His exploration took him into numerous alternative healing modalities – then beyond.
In the late 90s Michael began to chart a methodical pathway into present moment awareness with intent to develop a practical procedure that anyone, anywhere, could follow to initiate this experience for themselves. This procedure became known as The Presence Process. In 2002 Michael returned to South Africa and invited others to experience this inner journey. He discovered that as others embraced present moment awareness they too automatically experienced release from physical, mental, and emotional discomfort, including psychological disorders and addictions.
To make this journey accessible to everyone Michael wrote The Presence Process: A Healing Journey Into Present Moment Awareness. The Presence Process enables us to take present moment awareness from a mental concept to an abiding experience.

This is an excellent companion to one of my all time favorites, The Presence Process. This reaches further into emotional imprints and the why we do what we do and how to deal with that. Real transformation comes from being responsible enough to look within and integrate emotional imprints so that they dont make one 'react'. Talking about responding rather than reacting is always easy and I think it's because of the emotional imprints. Excellent book. I highly recommend it if you really want to get to the 'heart of the matter'. But I would also suggest The Presence Process first, although be prepared to fly through a shit storm. You need to go through to get out..
This book is so profoundly magical it is hard to describe it. It gave me many answers, and at the same time I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard. The story about the rabbit was hilarious. It is at time difficult to read, because it is bringing out our unconscious, and the mind in order to protect itself "falls asleep", or is "bored". In order to read this book till the end one has to stay alert. And many profound jewels are delivered towards the end. But if you're not into profound, it's interesting to find out why young people like to do piercing and tattooing...
It is powerful spiritual book as much as presence process book . However no need for breathing sessions when we read this book . I recommend this book 5/5
I was interested in the first few pages of this book, then I reached "Right Passageway" (pg 14). This chapter begins "There have been periods upon earth when we were acutely aware of The Pathway of Awareness and The Seven Year Cycle." This sounds like the author is well-researched in anthropology - actually he was a music journalist - but he does not elaborate on when these periods occurred or where or how he came to this conclusion. And, whom does he refer to as "we?"
I continued reading to page 17 - "The Naming Process." This is where the author writes about renaming in communities of "indigenous" people at ages 7, 14, 21, etc. It jumped out at me that this author lumps all indigenous people into one group worldwide and wants the reader to believe he knows that they rename their children every 7 years. And rename them things like "Many Crows." Do the Inuit of the tundra see a lot of crows? Or the Ket people of Siberia perhaps see crows? What about the Aborigine people in Australia naming their children "Runs Like Deer?" Deer are not native to Australia. This author is from South Africa. Is he referring to the San? The Khoekhoe? He does not explain any affiliation with or learning about the indigenous people anywhere.
Seems that this author is attempting to appeal to the white audience that thinks all "indigenous" people are the same. Even in the same country, like the US, indigenous people are not the same. Are all white people the same?
Totally enjoyed this book and got so much from this author's thoughts about issues of the heart. --------- I am about half way through the book, and I am enjoying it immensely. I love the author's play on words and meanings. Many of his thoughts send me into reflection, so that I am taking my time getting through the book. Truly life transforming; I am grateful for the author's willingness to put this info out there for anyone searching to have access to, that he doesn't hoard it with the intention to make a great deal of money from it. His website is equally incredible. Check it out.
This is one of those books you will pick up and re-read throughout your life. It is the kind that will offer different and deeper messages each time you read it. It makes you take a hard look at your life but also offers uplifting resolves if you don't like what you feel. It is permanently by my nightstand.
This work deserved more than five stars. I am speechless when it comes to describing the value of its contents. No one will speak truth to you as Michael Brown does. Even Eckhart Tolle is pale in comparison.
This goes along with his book, "The Presence Process" and it deepened my understanding even more on my spiritual path. I highly recommend it to anyone who is doing some soul searching.
