About the author

William Bradford was an English leader of the settlers of the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts, and was elected thirty times to be the Governor after John Carver died. The manuscript of his journal (1620–1647), Of Plymouth Plantation, was not published until 1856. Bradford is credited as the first to proclaim what popular American culture now views as the first Thanksgiving.

Audiobook.
DNF.
I had to stop this. The narrator was too bland, and the part I really wanted to hear about, the first year or two of the Plymouth colony and the Mayflower voyage was glossed over. And more time is spent in the later years of the book. The concept that Bradford wrote this book was cool, but he wrote it passively throughout his life. It wasn’t quite dairy like like I almost expected. Moving on to a different pilgrim audiobook instead.

Fascinating. William Bradford's original text, reworded as needed to make it comprehensible. For those who may have read Bradford's original work, this is much clearer, and conveys much about the trials of the Mayflower Pilgrims during their early history, and theirr first 30 years in New England.

In an ironic twist of fate, I read this in high school. I thought it was boring and really just skimmed it. Then here I am years later and BAM guess what? I'm related to not only Bradford but the Brewsters as well. Just a personal note not really a review

I felt like I was right there with the pilgrims. Cheering them on in their successes weeping with them during their struggles. I love that throughout it all they gave all the glory to God.
