In the summer of 2010, I found myself on a bus absentmindedly flipping through applications on my iPhone. I wanted to kill time before my stop.
Wait.
Kill time?
As if life is long enough to spend some of it in an act of killing. No, I decided in that moment, it's not. I am a yoga practitioner/studio owner. I'm a mindfulness practitioner/decade-long student of Buddhism.
In short, I thought: I should know better, but I don't.
In an effort to get clarity around my online behaviors I took a month-long Digital Sabbatical. I powered down for a month to consider my relationship with technology.
The Digital Sabbatical gave me new perspective on my habits. (And not just those of the tech variety.) I realized all the ways I was caving to socializing online when what I really wanted was to turn inward. I saw for myself how my desire to constantly check in with others moved me further away from my own heart and practice.
Digital Warriorship is a result of the month I spent off the web looking into myself. I hope it serves you in the same way.
Included in the guide:
- how to take your own Digital Sabbatical - ways to evaluate your online presence - practical ways to question your life (beyond the digital realm) - how to create sanctuary for yourself (on and off the web) - exploratory question lists (Experience Telling) - how to blank the slate - digital meditations
This ebook is a guide to developing healthy habits of digital engagement. It helps you define yourself in the digital world. I find myself gravitating to it at least once a year when my awareness in the digital space becomes muddled. Digital Warriorship grounds me and helps me have greater purpose and intent with my life in cyberspace.
