I have come to terms with the idea of Peter becoming Lesser-Bred. See, sometimes I can look at the glass of milk as being half-full instead of close to empty.
Besides, it’s not all that hard. Look at the benefits. More time alone with him, my greedy bastard self, and the bed. Granted, it’s time we could be spending in the Gray Zone. I did promise to take Peter there to find a Lesser-Bred to meet his needs.
But since Peter hasn’t mentioned going, I haven’t bothered to remind him. What can I say, the idea of another man satisfying Pete in a way I can’t doesn’t exactly put me in my happy place.
Georgia born and bred, I am an artist, a writer, and a general pain in the ass. I spend most of my days working on my next book or bettering my art. Writing is my identity and I love every minute of it. It's work, lots of work (sometimes I work 12+ hours a day and I never get a vacation) but I don't regret doing it. I currently share my house with a myriad of dogs, a few cats, a saltwater aquarium filled with coral and fish, as well as my partner who's great at giving hugs when the day's been rough. And of course, my editor and PA, who helps me keep life reasonably organized. At least so I won't walk out the door without wearing pants.
and of course neither of them will keep their promises
Much more serious than the previous books of the serie. Peter is still fighting to keep his heart and his feelings unchanged, to keep his .
Darwin is doing everything he can to help Peter, and certainly it's not a easy task... But he don't care. No Kin (aka, a Dragon) or a Lesser-Breed can separate him from his lover.
Great book, and much more was revealed. I hate Whitcomb arrogance, still trying to take Peter away from Darwin... But now I'm so damn confused, of his real objective! He want or not the best for Peter????
I can't wait to see how the dramatic events at the end of the book will affect Darwin and Peter relationship! I'm so sad the story is again so short! I could read 3 times more pages with the same characters and would NEVER, EVER be bored!
5 stars, and I'm anxiously waiting for more! ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I laughed quite a bit with this installment of the Darwin’s Theory series. Darwin’s happier here than with the previous two book. He is still in love with Peter to the point that it is almost an obsession, but he’s happily in love. Peter is happy too, though he is also scared of the changes that his body is about to undergo with him Becoming Lesser-Bred. They are not taking the precautions they should be taking in preparing for Peters Shift. This adds some exciting drama to story. The readers find out what it was that Peter almost got involved in with the secret metaphysical program. His brilliant knowledge of metaphysics gets him in some trouble. Peter still keeping secrets puts him and Darwin in harm’s way. Darwin has to break some promises to keep his love safe. This is definitely the most suspenseful of the series thus far.
These books need to be read in order and I highly recommend having them all on hand and ready to start the next as soon as you finish one. They are very intense and each book is better than the one before it. One of the things that Peter has been hiding is going to keep haunting him for a long period of time. I am eager to see where that is going to take the series. Peter holds knowledge over something that can change so many things when it comes to metaphysics.
Be sure to check out the author’s website. She is the cover artist for the book and she has numerous character illustrations.
This series gets more and more interesting with each episode. These two are just so cute! More thrilling action, more love, more declarations of eternal devotion. At first I didn't understand why Peter loved Darwin so much when he seemed to have it so together, but this episode revealed more about how Peter has issues, too. It's so cute how self-deprecating Darwin is and how he has Peter on a pedestal and that's what keeps him sane.
Groundwork and slowing going, but some tasty tidbits thrown in. I thought we'd get further in this episode then we did, but the housekeeping storyline took a different track of approach then I expected. Come on Shift.
This was a great addition to the series, just enough of my questions were answered to keep me satisfied, and I love the fascinating new questions that were raised.
I definitely felt like I got to know both the world and the characters better in this one, and I loved that.
Darwin and Peter are definitely a fantastic couple. It's so refreshing to read about characters so confident in their relationship and in the love that the other has for them.
I think these books are going to be the death of me! As the story builds up, it ends!
That being said, I am really enjoying this series. I really love Darwin and his 'just as I am' attitude and his utter devotion to Peter. The fantasy/paranormal component of the story is beginning to come together, and I am definately intrigued to see where it goes and what more this world has to offer. We'll just have to see if I maintain my sanity as I wait for the next book.
Peter is going through the changing process and takes a bite out of his beloved Darwin. Scared and volatile, Peter calls Whitcomb who kidnaps Peter. Darwin finds Peter missing and goes nuts tracking him down. Once the guys are safely hidden in The Zone, Peter reveals his most shocking secret.
I'm loosing interesting in this story. Those kind of plotted short novellas, where each part ends with loose end and incomplete, show a lot about a writer which is nothing good in my book. Anyway this plot is heading into a direction which isn't good at all, for me it's annoying and idiotic.
This was just as good as book 1 and 2. I really enjoyed reading it. No changes on my impression about the characters, which is great, because I expect a character to remain the same all along the series, maybe some personal growth would be ok, but I liked them the way they are right now.
Not so much advance in the relationship on this instalment but enough emotions to make it appealing and even cute at times. I love the tender moments they share, sometimes I think they could be out of character for what I seen on Darwin but it really aren’t because only shows how much he cares about Peter. I really loved them together.
The plot was very good. I would love to have a better explanation about what kin and lesser-bred mean and their feeding process cause it kind of just is there and we suppose to know what it isn’t but I really didn’t and even now after reading three instalments of the series, there are thing that I think I know, but not really fully understand. The plot is improving and there’s more action for reader who might enjoyed that.
What a great story, well written and flowed along great. I have to say I loved the style of this author which pulled me into the story right from page one.
Darwin is a regular guy living in what seems like a normal world but his life is anything but normal. There are 5 books to this series that I read within a couple of days I was so hooked. And I'm happy to see there is now a novel to follow these 5 books, which I intend to start reading right away.
I really want to kick Darwin. He's TSTL at times. My official review is now available.
Impulse control, use it, Darwin! Although really, I want to call him Dar-DIM. In the third installment of this series, we learn more about why Peter is in such hot demand. Still no Kin showing up in the book but the evil Serge makes another appearance. She's in league with Peter's abductors. Thankfully, Darwin is able to bullshit his way for a daring rescue.
Darwin is once again a loathsome person. I didn't think I could lose any more respect for this dimwit. Ms. Wilder has done a great job in creating a reprehensible boy that anyone would want to smack around and shake some sense into him. Since Darwin does come across as a painslut, I'd be happy to whip him into shape.
Peter is still the sweet boy and as we learn why he's done some of the things he's done, I'm even more irritated with Darwin. It is obvious Darwin is the downfall of everything for Peter – be it directly or indirectly. Why Peter still loves Darwin, I cannot fathom. I don't see Peter wising up anytime soon. Even though I was irritated with Darwin's every thought and move, each scene was necessary and made sense.
I'm still hooked and want to read the next book to find out what other secrets haven't been exposed. I also want to finally meet a Kin. I recommend this book for those who enjoy military conspiracies mixed with bumbling teenage boys who can't think straight due to testosterone poisoning.
I love the little twists and turns this story is taking. I might have some small personal nitpicks with a couple of things within but this is a solid 4 stars.
The more I read these stories, the more in love I am with Darwin. He is the one telling the story and he is so sarcastic and cocky...I love it! He makes me laugh. I guess that I might think he was an asshole, if it weren't for his unshakable, unquestioning, unconditional love for Peter. It is so beautiful. Oh, to be loved like that. My only complaint with these stories is that they are just a couple of chapters being spoon-fed to us (the reader). I really don't like WIPs; I would rather wait until the whole story is finished and then read it all at once. But, what can I do? I have now started on this journey with D and Peter, so I must continue.
I think this series, for me, would have had more impact if it were one book instead of five. The plotting does pick up a bit here but I still find myself skimming all the extra stuff and just reading the dialogue in quotations. Also Peter keeping stuff from Darwin is getting on my nerves. I guess this is just a plot device is drag the story out. Since I already have all the books, I'll keep reading. Good thing they're relatively short.
The story between Darwin and Pete was bittersweet like in the former books.
The reason why I can give it 4 stars is, that Darwins language isn´t that hard any more and I would have liked it more, if he stayed more like himself.
Anyway it was nice to see the development in Darwins and Petes relationship and how Darwin got his new "abilities".
