Sometimes it takes life falling apart...
... to piece yourself back together!

Single mum Jenny's life is turned upside-down (quite literally) when her beloved cottage on the Norfolk coast falls off a cliff. And so, with the storm raging on, Jenny and her eighteen-year-old son Charlie are forced to take refuge in her neighbour, Luke's, cosy campervan.

It's a tight squeeze for the three of them - and Luke's adorable dachshund, Betty - but somehow they make it work. And when far-too-handsome Luke suggests a spontaneous road trip around England, it ignites a desire for adventure in Jenny she thought long extinguished!

And soon she begins to wonder whether losing everything might just have been the best thing that ever happened to her...

Thank you Orion books for sending a copy of this wonderfully uplifting book! I absolutely loved the relationship between Jenny and Luke and loved their adventures around the UK, some to places I have visited and some to places I now want to visit.
I devoured it and definitely recommend it!

Where to start? This book touched me in so many ways. There was so many things I could identify with with Jenny and her relationship with her 18 year old son Charlie.
Initially I was drawn in by how bad of a day she was having, and then the icing on the cake, her house being destroyed. The worry and anxiety that she goes through on a daily basis, about money, her car, her job and her abilities as a parent, are so very relatable. When you count your pennies, then there is no room for accidents and emergencies and what happened to her really was her worst nightmare.
I really liked her growing friendship with Luke. I could tell he was lonely and had past hurt he needed to sort through and together he and Jenny helped heal each other and ‘find their joy’ as Charlie liked to say.
Jenny and Charlie’s relationship was really beautiful to watch. I have teenage boys and it’s not easy to get a conversation out of them or get them off their phones to do something in real life, for Charlie to be mature enough to realise he wanted more was quite something. I loved their banter and how he was quietly supporting his mum without her even knowing. I read the chapter where he leaves for Paris through big fat tears as I dread that day, the flying the coup with my own children.
There was just so much about this book, even the places they visited, I kept saying, oh I’ve been there, and there and had just returned from visiting Castlerig with my family. It all made me feel closer to the characters and the story. Unlike Jenny in her blog, words don’t seem to come easily to describe how I loved this book, but I know for sure it will certainly be on my bookshelf and read many times.

This book was such a pleasure! I devoured it in a few days, which says something, as lately reading a book takes me more than a few weeks! I just wanted to keep reading, there was such a warmth to this story, it was so down - to - earth and real.

I absolutely adored the relationship between Jenny and Charlie. At the beginning I thought she's going to be the devoted, sad, single mum, but it turned out that yes, she was devoted and she was a single mum, and yes, sometimes she was sad, which is only natural, but she had the best sense of humour and her banter with Charlie, her one - liners were simply the best. Actually I think I'd like to be a mum like Jenny myself, laid - back but with rules, funny and honest.
I also adored the growing relationship with Luke, ekhm, I actually adored Luke, period.

There were moments when the book started to feel like a tourist guide, but yes, I understand, the author couldn't have save us those description, and as much as I loved some of the places Jenny, Luke, CHarlie and Betty visited, I could live without the places mentioned in passing. Nevertheless, it is another gem from Debbie Johnson, there is simply so much heart in every single word written, it feels as if the author herself had a great fun writing this novel about forgiveness and second chances.

This was such a lovely read. I just loved reading about the adventures in the motorhome (though not for me!) and the wonderful places they visited across Britain.

When Jenny loses her job and her home, a proposition from Luke for her and her 18 year old son to join them for adventures in his motorhome, she moves out of her comfort zone and decides to just go with the flow.

It is a story of finding themselves after hard times and finding their joy.

Lush little holiday read. 5⭐️

Another really wonderful book by Debbie Johnson. I just adore her books and if you haven't read any yet then you are missing out and what better book to start with then this one.

In this book we meet Jenny, who is a single mum, whose world has just been rocked quite literally when a terrible storm makes her cottage fall off the cliff that it is perched on and into the sea. With no where to go her kind neighbour Luke invites Jenny and her son Charlie into his home, his life and his heart.

Also not forgetting the adorable doggo Betty who is a very cute dachshund. This book has lots of wonderful descriptions of some stunning places around the UK. It's about friendship, love, family and starting over.

This wonderful book is the epitome of uplifting with its wonderful thought provoking message about what is really important in life. When Jenny’s life literally falls apart in a day she makes an unexpected friend in Luke who lives a more transient life in his camper van which leaves her wondering if that might be the way forward for her too. Along with her son Charlie and Luke’s dog Betty, Jenny and Luke embark on a quirky adventure across England which involves lots of humour along with some soul searching and moving on from the past. There’s such fantastic chemistry in this and great backstories, there was nothing I didn’t love about it, this is probably Debbie Johnson’s best yet and just a perfect antidote to life.

I cannot remember when I last read a book with so many warm and likable characters. The lead character Jenny, is a single Mum to 18 year Charlie, who she has raised pretty much on her own. They live a frugal but contented existence. Then one day tragedy strikes, their little cliffside cottage on the Norfolk coast is literally swept into the sea during a violent storm.Jenny and Charlie are homeless, not only that but the carpet company for which she works is closing down.Could things get any worse?Unexpected help comes in the form of their neighbour Luke who lives a nomadic existence in his mobile home.He offers for Jenny and Charlie to join him in a road trip around England. After initially resisting the idea Jenny decides to take a chance on happiness and off they go.I loved Jenny, she is a real battler but she was always upbeat, positive and never felt sorry for herself.I especially admired how she never bagged Charlie's dad to him despite him being the ultimate dead beat father.I loved her and Charlie's relationship, their banter the little inside jokes. It was a very realistic Mother son relationship. As for Luke, what a sweetheart he turned out to be.He has a lot of emotional baggage which is slowly revealed over the course of the story but he has the biggest heart.I loved the authors writing style,so engaging and filled with humour. The descriptions of the places they visited were so vivid,I felt I was there with them.I will definately be reading more from Debbie Johnson.May I just say like the aptly named motor home, this story filled me with joy. Also I fell in love with darling little Betty(she steals a lot of scenes)and now I want to get a dashhound.

I must say that of all the various reasons a main character may start off a book essentially homeless and needing to start life again - that your house falling off the side of a cliff, is certainly one of the more original I've seen.

And it means that Jenny and Charlies lives are turned upside down.

I loved the way they responded to this, and when Jenny also is made redundant she starts considering a whole new way of life.

Inspired by neighbour Luke who travels around the UK in a motorhome and kindly offers to take Jenny and Charlie with him.

I loved their quirky journey up and down the UK, with places chosen at random and interesting routes and stops found.

And its really a journey of self discovery for all of the characters, as they adjust, and I loved seeing it all unfold.

Plus add in Betty their four legged friend, and we have fun and frolics. Such an enjoyable book. I loved it.

Thank you to Orion and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Utterly, utterly brilliant!

Thank you once again, Debbie, for this wonderful story full of characters I never want to say goodbye to! But I am left to imagine what their lives will be like after we close the book on them. I loved them all.
I loved the dogs and the names you gave them...was that an obvious reference to an old tv show? 😉
Very informative in parts, I wonder how much fun you had putting it all together..did you actually follow that same route? Whichever way you did it, the book turned out marvellously. If you love Debbie Johnson's books...you will not be disappointed ♥

"Falling For You" by Debbie Johnson is a heartwarming and romantic novel that follows the story of single mother Jenny and her son, Charlie, who are forced to seek refuge in their neighbour Luke's campervan after their beloved cottage by the sea in Norfolk falls off a cliff!

It's a tight squeeze for the three of them and Luke's adorable dachshund, Betty but somehow they make it work.

The unexpected living arrangement leads to a series of hilarious and heartwarming events as Jenny and Luke navigate their newfound closeness,
And when Luke suggests a spontaneous road trip around England, it ignites a desire for adventure in Jenny she thought was long extinguished and sparking a romance that neither of them expected.

Jenny and Luke are both well-developed and relatable characters, with their own unique quirks and insecurities. Their relationship blossoms naturally and realistically, making it easy to root for them.

The plot is fast-paced and full of twists and turns, keeping the reader hooked from start to finish.

The book is also full of humour, making it a light and enjoyable read.

A story about finding love and second chances with a message of hope and resilience. A delightful and heartwarming romance novel that is perfect for a cosy weekend read.

I enjoyed this book - especially the idea of taking off in a motorhome ! In Jenny’s case, it also highlighted how you can recover from setbacks - losing her home & job - and make positive changes if you’re brave enough. For Luke, it was more emotional and he needed to find a way to move forward for himself.
It was very life affirming.
One thing that did bug me though - the cover image was of a camper van and the blurb on the back talked about a camper van, but in the story, Luke explains in some detail the difference between a camper van and a motorhome, and confirms that his is definitely a motorhome! This should be portrayed in the images and blurb for accuracy and consistency.

This author always engages me in her stories. I like the original touches in this tale of forgiveness and second chances. Its believable characters, humour, poignancy, and romance are woven into every line. The events which lead to Jenny's life-changing journey are told vividly, making them easy to visualise. The familial relationships are insightful and recognisable. I like the uplifting qualities of this story and the way it draws the reader into Jenny's world, making it an escapist read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Thankyou to Orion books for sending me this as a winner in a competition! What a lovely, light, easy, summery read!
Jenny and Charlie, mother and son, live a relatively plain, mundane life… until one day everything goes terribly wrong in a storm!
As predictable as it was, I still really enjoyed that element. My only minor gripe, would be the reasoning Jenny leaves home… it seems so… pathetic? But a read I would recommend to friends!

Life on the road.

When your whole life literally falls off a cliff, and yourself almost with it, could you help but fall for the man who saves you?
Jenny, Charlie and Luke set off in Luke's motorbike on an adventure to help Jenny & Charlie escape and also come to terms with what they have lost before they can rebuild their lives.
But Jenny ends up rebuilding more than she ever thought would be possible.

Falling for You was such an uplifting and wonderful book that I throughly enjoyed! ⁣

Honestly I couldn't imagine losing everything with no warning and I quickly found myself wanting to protect Jenny and Charlie from the situation they found themselves in. ⁣

Jenny is a very relatable character who is going through a lot in her life on top of everyday worries and anxieties. I really loved her relationship with her son, Charlie and the banter was on point! I also really liked Luke and getting to know his story and what led him to live his life in his motorhome. ⁣

I loved going on this journey with these characters and I cannot believe that this is my first Debbie Johnson book! I'm definitely going to be picking up more of her work in the future! ⁣

A great read. Jenny has a fairly small life, and the time is approaching when her only son would be leaving home. The disaster strikes when they lose their home. Help is on hand from neighbour Luke. They all have some issues from their past and will spending the summer travelling together help them all in the long term?

Jenny thinks life can’t get any worse when her cottage falls off a cliff! Luke is her neighbour who lives in a campervan, he offers Jenny and her son Charlie a trip in his state of the art campervan and she decides to throw caution to the wind and hit the road. Drama, families, laughter and beautiful descriptive places make this an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Rating 4.5 rounded up to 5.0: This is a slow and gentle story about two people who have been living their lives as dictated by the survival mechanisms they devised for themselves. Their circumstances are different but they each sense in the other, wounds that they must tread carefully around. There are no surprises but it's predictability does not detract from the appeal of following their story.

A book that really makes you wonder what you would do if you lost all of your material things as well as your home and job in one day. I adored the story of Jenny and her son Charlie. I felt like I was travelling along with them and Luke and didn't want the journey to end. I definitely recommend this book.

Wholesome book

I have always loved Debbie's writing.
She always writes the most wholesome books where you feel like the characters jump off the page, become people you want to spend time with, become invested in. If I find myself thinking about a book during a spin class or first thing in the morning then it's a good one and with Debbie's books it happens every time.

Debbie does it again

I cannot express how much i love this author, however it is so frustrating when I finish the book, a charming mix of laughs, sadness and good old fashioned romance, we all need some escapism now and again eh.

2.5 stars. I liked this story but didn't love it. I found myself really struggling to connect with the two main characters. It was overall a nice story but it was missing an element of heartwarming feeling that made Johnson's "Comfort Food" series so wonderful.
