Anne Bourrel is a French writer. She studied both in her home country and in the UK then settled in Montpellier (South of France), where she devotes herself to writing. Living next to the Spanish boarder and close to Nîmes, a French city influenced by the Spanish community (cf. the short story entitled Bullfight), she is influenced by the Iberian culture. Her stories are mainly set in the South of France, in Montpellier (The Collectors), Spain (Estéban and Almería), Portugal (Marta’s Fingernails) and also in England (Lounge Football). She is a tango dancer, which features here in The Crescendo of the Bald Man.So far, she is the author of seven novels, many theater plays, short stories and two poetry books. She has translated her own short stories and plays into English. She reads her texts on stage with various musicians and has already won six literary awards. Her latest publications include Le Dernier Invité, a novel, and Voyez comme on danse, theater, both with Editions La Manufacture de Livres, Paris. Superstition is her first book of bilingual collected stories.
