Outrageous Prayer: Praying As Jesus Prayed

Rate this book
How does Jesus want us to pray? One of his disciples asked, “Lord, teach us to pray.” As religious men, they would have known how to pray, yet they still asked Jesus to teach them. Surprisingly, rather than addressing God as Lord, which would have been the normal way for religious people to pray, Jesus taught his disciples to address God the same way Jesus himself did, as Father; the exact same way that resulted in the religious leaders plotting against Jesus. In instructing his disciples to address God as Father, Jesus taught his disciples to relate to God as his children, rather than as his servants. That first lesson leads us to other questions that need answering. If Jesus says we are God's children, then how should that impact the way that we pray to God? Can we really be as bold with God as a small child would be with his or her mother or father? If we truly are God's children how will that change the way that we live our lives? Jesus' teaching on prayer, found in what has become known as "The Lord's Prayer" or "Our Father", has the power to radically impact the way we live our lives and bring us into a new relationship with God our Father.
