THIS IS THE TOTALLY GREATEST OF THE PREVIOUS BOOKS!!!! :DDD
as in like, GREATER THAN THE GREATS!
I finished it after 5 hours! and I ended up sleeping at pass 1am. AND FYI, I have classes. SO I am SOOO SLEEPY during our whole CLASS PERIOD! even now...
*yawn*
BUT OF COURSE...I won't sleep because I want every bit of the story to stay inside my head up until I finish this review. AND HERE I AM...STARTING TO TALK ABOUT IT...right...NOW.

39 Clues.Into the Gauntlet. The final installment of the hunt of the 39 Clues. BUT the series is not yet over. We'll be discussing that after I've read the 11th book which will be released this year. For now, let's talk about the tenth.

MY favorite part here, is probably ALMOST EVERYTHING that happened. BUT if you'd make me choose. I'd have to say, it's the part when everybody, almost everybody, started to doubt. DOUBT. it looks not good if you leave the sentence to the word doubt. I guess I have to add this: the part when everybody, almost everybody, started to doubt THEMSELVES, the ways that they've been doing, the persons that they'd BELIEVED in to be doing GOOD, and THE CLUE HUNT. I, myself, loved the part when the author kept on changing the different point of views from an agent to another. ESPECIALLY the part with IAN KABRA (L-O-V-E <3) AND HIS SISTER NATALIE were using their own skills to the very place that they thought they wouldn't use it and against the person who made them learn what they know now.
I TOTALLY LOVE THAT PART!

another part is the one near the end. WHEN they all helped each other against ONE evil person! WHO THE EVIL PERSON IS??? I WON'T TELL. YOU KNOW how I am with those things :)

AND the part when they ALL wrote "stuff's" on a piece of paper and giving it to DAN AND AMY.

If I am going to tell you everything that I liked/LOVED...it will take me long and I want this review to be ... short. And fun :)

SOOO. there! I've let you in on some parts of the story. You want more???
LET ME THINK ABOUT. give me a few seconds...

...OH! and I hate the part when the EVIL ONE was there and she was SO CRAZY , SO RUTHLESS , TOTALLY EVIL! She doesn't CARE about ANYONE!!! except for the CLUES!
Good thing that the end ended up with her ... *thinks thoughts to self*
HA! you thought you're going to make me say something or SPOIL YOU, don't yah? YOU GOT THAT PART WRONG! :D Plus, if ever I accidentally made that, I can always edit it. LOL *evil laugh*

OKAY! I'M DONE!!! :DDD
I THINK. :)
ANYWAY. before I go spill some BEANS THAT SHOULDN'T BE SPILLED, I should stop this now.
SO.... GOOD-BYE. SAYONARA. AU REVOIR. PAALAM! :)
'TIL NEXT TIME :)

This is a great ending. I don't know if I will continue with the other series but it doesn't matter because this series is amazing, fun, and short.

Finally, after reading all nine books, I get to the last one in this exciting series… but, wait a minute, I’m not so sure it IS the last one! Apart from the bonus book, The Black Book of Buried Secrets, that is being released on October 26, 2010 (in which the hidden secrets and mysteries surrounding history’s most notorious family are uncovered) the ending of The 39 Clues left some unanswered questions. “Our adventures aren’t over, Dan thought. But they are for now.” So, entretemps, this series has ended but it will definitely continue sometime in the near future.

Without giving too much away, here’s what Book 10 reveals: 14-year-old Amy Cahill and her 10-year-old brother Dan are now expected not only to find the 39 clues first, but they are also commissioned to reunite their traitorous family—the same people responsible for their parents’ death. After a month of dodging bullets, running from evil cousins and getting out of impossible situations, they aren’t at all keen on forgiving and forgetting what’s been done to them. But there’s more to the 39 clues hunt than they’ve been led to believe. Even once the reader discovers what the prize at the end of the line is and what it means—power to rule the world—what’s going to happen once it’s discovered and taken possession of?

About halfway through the book, the suspense really begins and continues full speed ahead. Haddix makes use of short chapters and cliffhanger endings to keep the reader turning the pages. This was the longest of the books at over 327 pages.

The ending is satisfying but not complete, hence it may leave some readers feeling like they’re hanging suspended. I look forward to the continuation. I’ve invested time to read this series, enjoyed it tremendously, and now I understand some things better having reached this last book.

If you haven’t started reading this series yet, it’s worth it especially since Steven Spielberg is to direct the film production based on The 39 Clues. In addition, this book offers an interactive experience for kids. They can collect the cards that come with each books, play the games online and win prizes. There are over $100 000 in prizes for clue hunters. Well, The 39 Clues isn’t over and in a way I’m glad about it. What will Amy and Dan have to face now that they’ve discovered a powerful secret? We’ll soon find out!

OK, this book is one of the books that made me cry. It's not great. Not good. Not awesome. The only word to desribe it is this: Epic. Margaret Peterson Haddix did an amazing job with this book. In the beginning, we are informed how much the Clue Hunt has tired two till-recently-ordinary kids and how much they think that the ambitions of the Madrigals seem unlikely to happen to the kids' eyes, with the best possible way. Then, we see Jonah Wizard, his first appearance after The Emperor's Code. He thinks of what his less-than-nice-mother has asked him to do: to assasinate the Cahill siblings, something that frightens him. Then, in the Globe Theatre, we see all the still-active and not-dead Cluehunters;the Holts;the Kabras;Alistair;Jonah;Amy and Dan and.....the Starlings, something copletly unexpectable since they hadn't appeared since The Maze of Bones. Then, they start to fight, as usual, for a piece of paper with orders for the next steps of the Clue Hunt. When they fight ends, Jonah starts singing a song about the Cahill family's hatred and about dreams of reunion, something that

A.No one except the Madrigals and few other branches' Cahills have ever thoight of.

and

B. Something that kept Jonah's mother Cora from getting her son out of jail for damaging the Globe Theatre.

The final part is the best. The characters are in the Cahill Island, trapped in a tunnel called the Gaunlet, in their way to find the last Clue and the Master Serum. They work together, something unexpectable, carrying Jonah who's bones have been broken by constant slidings. They even save each other from a hole that was created by an explosion. Then, as they unlock a door, they see the remains of other tries to reunite the Cahill family and know that this is it: here's the Clue, the Serum. And they start running. And the following scenes are in the point of view of everyone:

*Jonah is abandoned, bleeding, in the dark, while the others are running. What does he do? Everyone would've expected him to quit. But, no. He still wants to please his mother, a mother who believes that Jonah has so many fans, being a superstar, that he needs no mother.

*Ian and Natalie, run together for the serum, so they can take it, go to their mother, take the leadership of the Lucian Branch from her and say "We don't want to be your children anymore."

*Hamilton, without his family, still shocked learnign Amy and Dan are Madrigals, runs for the serum.

*Sinead, wanting to cure her brothers with the Serum, runs too.

*Alistair, who is thinking that he spent his all life searching for Clues, runs too.

*Amy and Dan, thinking that no one must take the Serum, run too, to prevent the others from taking it.

We learn their emotional status in an amazingly realistic way.

And then the unthinkable happens.

Isabel is already holding the vial containing the Serum, having the characters's that are in the Gaublet relatives tied to graves with dybamite, blackmailing to kill them if the Cluehunters inside the Gaunlet don't tell their Clues to her, because well, the vial has no Serum, but.....colored water.

And then, we're told about what the characters feel like when they tell their Clues to Isabel, watching in a screen. their relatives or friends tied, ready to die if they don't do whatever Isabel wants.

And Sinead's brother comes into the scene to save everyone, who has an illness, that causes his head to hurt extemely bad. And that happens right that moment: his head begans to hurt.
Isabel goes for hims, to um, kill him I think, and then -OH MY GOD- all the Cahills there, enemies, who have tried to kill each other in the past, launch forward to save Ned, united!

But then, Isabel who was holding the vial with the actual Serum, falls on the floor and anyway the vial slips away and....the Cahills except Amy and Dan leave Amy and Dan with Isabel, to grab the Serum.(Ian just tries to prevent them from taking it only because he thinks no one should have it).

And then, Amy thinks that they have no chance to save themselves, until she thinks "No, I shouldn't think in that way. We're Amy and Dan versus Isabel. Two versus one."

And then, she launches forward with new strength, thinking that "I'm doing this for my parents, Lester, Irina. And I don't care if I die."
And she is desprately searching for a weapon, when she grabs the Serum vial and....hits Isabel in the head with the vial.

And everyone's is saved!

Then, Dan is thinking that with his photographic memory he remembers the recipe for the Serum and that if the others tell him their Clues, they could use the Serum to cure Sinead's brothers. And everyone tells him their Clues, he writes them, gives them to Sinead, but she says that she doesn't need it, she has another plan to cure them. So, with the relatives and friends untied, the Cahills united, sharing their Clues, Amy and Dan think : WE WON!. And they're right.

Afterwards, they decide to trun back to their old ife, but not for long : there's a new threat.

Edit: So, in a few words, I liked the suspense, how the character's personalities changed throughout theHunt, the emotional status of the characters, the fact that the younger Cahill generation gave p hated, violence and hostility and chose friendship for a better future of the world and of course the new threat in the end of the book.

I know that my review is not as good as it shiuld be for such an epic book, but the book is just so EPIC.

The final of the original 39 Clues series, and in my opinion, the best book of them all. Amy and Dan have not only discovered that they truly are from the Madrigal branch of the family, but that they must try and reunite the other branches in order to truly win and find the final of the 39 clues. As they search in London for the final clue, the younger generation of each of the other branches begin to mistrust their parents. One by one, they begin to decide that they need to join forces, however, there are those that will do anything to stop them - even murder.

Probably the most exciting and engaging of all the books. I loved how it brought in all the characters, and how they have transformed over the course of the series. Very fun, and leaves you with resolution, but excited for the next series.

This has been my personal favourite of all the books. Everything that you can expect from a final book , sappy , emotional , ofcourse in the classic 39 clues style - loads of near death experiences.

Dan and Amy have been ordered to reunite the family after finding the 39th clue. The Madrigals(?! I listened to the book okay?) are in the backround operating their moves on bringing the family together.

I'm a huge fan of emotional sappy scenes in books. Especially with a book series with 9 books and 6 kids I've come to love.

1. Maze of Bones - 🌟🌟🌟🌟
2. One false note - 🌟🌟🌟
3. The Sword thief - 🌟🌟🌟🌟
4. Beyond the grave - 🌟🌟🌟
5. The Black Circle - 🌟🌟 🌟1/2
6. In Too Deep - 🌟🌟1/2
7. The Viper's Nest - 🌟🌟🌟
8. The Emperor's Code - 🌟🌟🌟🌟
9. Storm warning - 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Loved this book series, my favorite part probably being where all the branches of one large treasure-hunting family comes together to defeat the main bad guy. Overall, I definitely would recommend it because of how amazingly the book pieces together. Although you have to read the first book to understand the next, nonetheless, it was still an amazing book.

This was not only a beautiful culmination of so many novels before it literally pieces clues and guesses along the way while in constant turmoil with their family just to have this penultimate book not only reform some powerful and quite touching family lines but also create more terror and tension than I’d say not one other book truly got fully close to, I mean some of the family literally resort to what you might downright call beasts. While there are hints in already knowing the final books title name on the “other” family, but I’m way intrigued to see what makes them so bad that the Cahill clan seems tame.

INTO THE GAUNTLET
Margeret Peterson Haddix

Oh no, it's over! Wailing and screaming are what I am thinking about right now. My only hope is that another series follows!

This was a super cute and educational series for middle schoolers that entertained and engaged me, a grandma from Texas. I thought the writing was dead on track, the information and clues were hidden educational facts and the whole thing was designed to excite and engage middle school readers.

Amy and Dan Cahill have completed the quest and united the Cahill family branches!

5 stars

Happy Reading!

Itt a vége a 39 kulcs utáni vadászatnak.

Prompt: My own prompt:
What technique does the author use to make this book more compelling? Focus on one technique and find examples to prove why you think that example was funny.

The technique the author to make this book more compelling is using humor. There are quite many examples of this technique in this book and all the others in this series although every book is written by a different author.

"Ian had always been taught that truth was a very flexible thing. His mother could smile brightly at another woman and say so charmingly, "Oh, that dress is just perfect for you. Wherever did you get it?" And then behind the woman's back she'd go on for hours about how such a hideous, shapeless old hag could not possibly have picked an outfit any more repulsive than that one." This was a truly funny passage although Ian's mom was not being nice but the contrast between the things she say to someone else and when she talks about them behind their back was hilarious. Not only that, the adjectives "hideous, shapeless and repulsive"are whimsical words to describe clothes. I also like the phrase "shapeless old hag", the image in my mind when I picture this is amusing.

"Dan went on, " I agree that Shakespeare was a great writer. The dude really knew how to insult people. 'You muddy conger'? 'Thy tongue outvenoms all the worms of Nile'? 'Thou art a boil, a plague-sore, an embossed carbuncle'?" Shakespeare was one of the greatest writers in History, but Dan could only think of how good the insults Shakespeare created were. The fact that the insults were written in old times illustrates an even more interesting twist to his insults. To me, Shakespeare is like a really old man but now I know he writes insults, he seems more real to me. Some of the words that he used are still common nowadays, increasing the hilarious aspect of this passage. (By the way, I am not sure what 'outvenoms' is)

"Begone!" the actor demanded. "Get thee off our stage! Let us finish our play, meet our intended fates..." Eisenhower slammed into Romeo like a tank. "Your fate just changed, dude," Hamilton muttered. This passage was funny because the actor was just in the middle of talking about fate but then his fate changed.

It's 39 clues but only 10 books - I kinda expected 39 books. And Book #11 is not just by Rick Riordan but a combi of 4 authors and not about Amy & Dan (yup, I peeked after realising that this one ends Amy & Dan's adventures - all secrets revealed, all their enemies become friends, excepting the evil Isabel Kabra.
This final book takes them to London, the Globe Theatre, Shakespeare and Stratford-upon-Avon, culminating in this uncharted isle off the Irish coasts - the ultra-secret Cahill home isle.
Overall, the series make pretty good reading for children of 11 -1 4 years of age. Especially this one that attempts to inculcate a love or at least an interest in Shakespeare with Dan looking up the many different ways Shakespeare invented insults:
"You idiot," Amy muttered. "Moron."
"You forgot 'poisonous bunch-back'd toad,' 'knottypated fool' and 'vile standing tuck,'" Dan said. "But at least I'm not 'pigeon-livered and lacking gall' like you."
"More Shakespeare insults?" Amy asked.
"Want me to go on?" Dan asked cheerfully. "I know dozens of them now."

And also how Jonah Wizard, the international hip-hop star is actually a secret Shakespeare fan, knowing his Shakespeare really well but hiding it for fear it would affect his superstar reputation.

I liked this little dialog between Jonah and Miss Pluderbottom, Iowa school teacher who has "been teaching Shakespeare to high school students in Cedar Grove, Iowa, for the past forty-nine years." -
"Yo," he said, rather feebly. "Wassup?"
Miss Pluderbottom narrowed her eyes at him. It made her look even scarier.
:In the interest of carrying on a cordial conversation," she said, "I will interpret that slurred collection of syllables to mean that you are pleased to make my acquaintance, and that you wish to inquire about my thoughts and concerns. Is that correct?"

I am so going to memorize this comeback for the next time somebody greets me with Wassup.

One word is enough to describe. PERFECT.
However, I am gonna say some more. Till previous book, each book was equal to one clue. From previous one, first, branches began to share clues among themselves, now whole family shared their clues. Actually, all clue hunting was for to reunite five branches as accomplished in this book. Scenes of family unison with young generation, except Uncle Alistair who was older all of others, was so touching because they understood their parents faults and could see or find the truth.
This book is supposed to be the last one of the 39 Clues series. Actually it was, with a great ending. Yet, it was also a beginning to the new and dangerous adventure which requires a united family.

Fantastic! Love this middle grade series. On the whole, the series introduces kids to history and important people. Although it might warp the true facts a bit, I don't mind for the sake of adventure and intrigue.

Book 10 is positively epic. I can't imagine what even takes place in the final book of the first 39 Clues series. Guess I'm about to find out though!

After reading this one it really got me to thinking. The 39 Clues would make for an awesome movie or TV series. Now wouldn't it?

I have mixed feelings about this book. There were definitely things I enjoyed, like watching the various families finally start working together, but there were also things I didn't like. I'm putting this at four stars because I do feel like it's overall a solid series finale, and the adventure kept me engaged and eagerly listening/turning pages. I liked getting some POV portions from the other children in the other families, and seeing them make some hard choices and difficult decisions. However, this entire series is ultimately nothing but a setup for a sequel series, which I have zero interest in reading. While there is a decent ending, it's left open because of the additional spinoff series the authors clearly already had planned, which I found less than satisfying.
