This book is very descriptive, I like how it is written in first person. I also liked how fast he flew even when he was hurt. Overall I think the book is written in a well way.
I appreciate that there is a Famous First about Cher Ami so their story is accessible to a broader audience, but I'm disappointed in the errors (for example, Cher Ami was a British pigeon).
With lives at stake, the soldiers only hope is to get a message to their commander, but in a time of limited communication the fate of their lives is in the hands of a pigeon. This story is set during WWI in Rampont, France. This book could be used in the classroom to discuss a small part of WWI and talk about how the technology of the time compares with the technology we have now.
