Between the Lines
When Hollywood It Boy, Reid Alexander, arrives on location, his intentions are simple: film another blockbuster hit while enjoying his celebrity status to the fullest while doing so. His costar is a virtual unknown with whom he had blazing hot chemistry during her auitions. The universe is lining up nicely to grant whatever he wants, as usual, until he's confronted with unexpected obstacles on location - like a bitter ex-girlfriend and a rival for the first girl to spark his genuine interest in years.
Emma Pierce just got her big break after more than a decade of filming commercials for grape juice, department stores and tampons, and more recently, bit parts in made-for-TV movies. Nailing the lead role in a wide-release film sent her agent, father and stepmother into raptures, and should have done the same for her. The Problem? I am a bit shocked that I ended up liking this book at all in the end. I was convinced that I was going to 1 star it for much of the story. And, honestly, it probably deserves 1 star.
Reasons this book enraged me:
1) We are stuck inside the brain of a huge jackass. When I first started reading this book, I thought Reid was going to be this bad boy that got reformed by the goody-goody girl. That isn't what happened. I kind of want to give props to the author for having the guts to write a character that is such an unabashed douche. He is spoiled, obnoxious, self-aggrandizing, rude, and just the kind of male character that I love to hate. Yet we are stuck reading from his ignoramus point of view for half of the story. It was sometimes laughable how much I hated Reid. At least he wasn't homophobic or racist, he had that going for him...
2) The love triangle. Made popular by Twilight, the love triangle rears its ugly head in this book. The whole story is a wishy-washy back and forth between Reid and Graham and Emma just can't make up her mind?!?!?!?! ::wails::
3) The miscommunications. Did Emma ever hear the saying, "don't assume, it makes an ass out of 'u' and 'me'"?? I think not. If she had just asked some simple questions, much of the drama of this book could have been avoided.
So clearly I hated this book, right?
Wrong.
I think it was the narration that won me over in the end. I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook, and even when the characters annoyed the crap out of me, I remained entertained. I also liked the addition of the surprises towards the end of the book, one of which I saw coming from far away, the other less so. It added a bit of intrigue to a otherwise mundane story.
I suspect that I should have hated this book... but I didn't. I enjoyed it and might go as far as to read the next in the series.

I guess some books you simply don't enjoy and no matter how it seems cute, you just don't think its that cute after all.
So yeah, i'll cut straight to the chase I think. This triangle, sucked. Sure, it was different considering one was actually a douche and that the characters which got first introduced didn't end up together, but i think it was plain stupid.
The main character did nothing but let everyone grab her and kiss her and she was never truly honest with neither. She just needed them to fail at some point and she'd be satisfied with that. i don't know, I was really disappointed while reading her lines and it ewas rather boring.
then comes the guy which is a movie star, who's an ass and doesn't really change either. Sure, he begs for forgiveness in the end but that's kinda late after sleeping with god knows how many, I do hope he tested himself regularly. I honestly didn't like any of the characters in this book and he ewas probsably the least one I enjoyed if you look past the main.
Some books just truly disappoint you and this one brought me into nothing but boredom. I think I just read really quickly, and skipped msot of the books content because of how I don't remember much, but it wasn't good. From the beginning I was bored and everything which happened, it went so slowly. It wasn't because of the characters actions, it was more how we always had to read how they went to bed and how they kept on doing this and that. A lot of repetitions too.. Things happened more than once over and over and that's honestly rather frustrating and boring.
I don't even know why I decided to use my time on this book, I guess the storyline seemed interesting and in the end it wasn't at all. I'm sure people like this one, but the only reason i'm actually giving it two starts and not one, is because I liked that the good guy from the sideline got the girl and not the obvious choice. Then again, I still didn't enjoy much of this book.

Dual POVs: Emma has been chosen to play the leading lady in an adaptation of Pride and Prejudiced. Reid is he leading man. The remake is set in the high school scene.
Overall feel for the book was- a group of teenage movie stars are on location (away from family) and during their free time they behave in adult mannerisms. Partying, sex, going to clubs, etc.
I'm Team Graham and hope he is in the next book.

I really enjoyed this warmly engaging read from start to finish. It's more of an acoustic singer/songwriter piece than a senses assaulting rave (no crazy "teen lingo" or wacky style devices), and the pace and your engagement with the characters builds slowly, but intensely, as the story unfolds. It's a POV of two characters, the somewhat naive Emma, a young actress appearing in her first major film, and Reid, a mega teen idol playing the lead, and he hopes, playing Emma as well. To me Emma was the main attraction of the book, and it seemed like it was really her story. Other reviews have even questioned what Reid's POV added, but although he does seem like a classic Mr. Wickham-style cad, he has a backstory and lots going on that make him relatable and interesting, if ultimately unappealing. There's enough to him that you can see why Emma is attracted, even beyond the obvious. I did feel like shouting "Don't go in there, Emma," more than once, but that just added to the fun. A sequel is planned, and I suspect we may see him working out some of those issues therein, I hope so, his story with his parents, and Brooke, the naughty image co-star with a secret, are definitely worthy of further exploration. Emma's friend Emily is a great character too, not just as a foil for Emma's thoughts (and lots of backstory), but as a charming and quirky person on her own. Graham, the other main male character is everything one could hope for in a YA mysterious indie loner dude, and Emma's struggle to understand him, and her feelings for him (and his for her?) are unrolled at just the right pace to build tension and interest, without being downright frustrating. This has been one of the best books I've read this year, right up with favs like Lauren Barnholdt. I hope it does well, it is a self-publication on Kindle and Nook (I read it on my Nook), and though lots of people do have access that way, not everyone does, so I hope it works out for the author. For the $.99 price tag, I definitely got $99.00 worth of enjoyment. Did I mention that it's long enough to be satisfying, too? Super short novels are fun, but this is a main course, not just a couple appetizers snagged from a Wish catering tray as Kristy sashays by. Congratulations to Tammara Webber, and here's hoping for a long and happy writing career.

The moral story of Between the Lines is good and inspiring. This is more to target YA audience. Growing up, family dynamic and that first cute innocent love. Emma is a young woman who has a lifetime opportunity. To star in a major movie with a hot famous actor.
Miss Webber done a gone job taking her time to explore the character development between Graham, Emma and Reid. Graham is more on the background but his presence and influence is a opposite from Reid. I think Graham and Reid represent the two opposite longing of Emma. Should she choose fame or low key life?
With that being said, I can not help myself I feel bit bored in the middle of the book. Is it because of the length, or the writing or too many drama, I am not sure.
Overall I am OK with the book. I will consider reading the next book in this series.

I really didn't like this one. it got such good reviews and I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. Don't bother, it wasn't good. The writing was boring, the characters were boring, the plot was boring.

If you harbor a guilty pleasure for reading about the private lives of your favorite actors--and don't we all, sometimes?--you'll be able to appreciate the appeal of this novel. 17-year-old actor Emma, a mostly-unknown, lands the lead role in a teen chick flick opposite the hottest teen male actor going, Reid Alexander. What girl wouldn't lose her head a little when said hottie actually takes a off-screen romantic (or at least sexual) interest in her?
Webber doesn't sugar-coat the Hollywood life, that's for sure. This book confirmed what I already guessed: namely, I'd advise most teens to run as fast as they can *away* from a life of movie-based fame. These kids drink, swear, try drugs, and have sex (some way more than others on all counts, but still, everyone takes a taste of those behaviors), and have to suffer the ridiculous speculations of tabloids on top of it all. The thing that really shows Webber's writing skills is that I *liked* all of them. Even Reid, who I often wanted to shake violently for being such a thoughtless slut, had his charms and his moments of depth. (It was an interesting choice for Webber to use him as one of the two POV characters--but now that I'm done, I see why she couldn't use Graham, and in any case it did help me not hate Reid, which I might've done if I hadn't seen life through his eyes.)
Poor Emma is *mostly* an innocent, and gets blindsided by the nasty side of fame at the same time that she's getting dazzled by the perks of it. I found her thoroughly lovable, and even understood when she got tempted onto unwise paths with Reid.
But naturally it's Graham (in which role I would cast Joseph Gordon-Leavitt) who we all really swoon for, and are impatiently waiting for Emma to get together with. I won't give spoilers on that, except to say that there's a really unexpected and bittersweet twist at the end, despite which I was left with a warm glowy feeling about the future of the characters. So glad there are sequels to look forward to!

4.5 Stars!! Fantastic...loved it! Told from 2 different POV's the story focuses on two actors of an upcoming movie. Reid is Hollywood's bad-boy and Emma is an up and coming star, and quite naïve. Mix in a whole bunch of other young celebs and you have the stuff tabloid fodder is made of. Both come from dysfunctional households, but how they choose to handle what’s been thrown at them, and who they become, is what’s at the heart of this story! Oh and toss in a HOTTIE named Graham *swoon, swoon and swoon again*, and we have ourselves a love triangle! I loved how Graham and Emma’s friendship evolved. Reid was quite the manipulator and the man-whore, but I actually felt sorry for him. Brooke, Reid’s ex is also a part of the cast and when they confront each other in private, a bombshell is dropped that I NEVER saw coming. Then…the author hits me with another one…wow, very impressive. Here I’m thinking I can see the ending clear as all get out…hooey on me, Tammara Webber’s was much better.
This is a wonderful coming of age story, especially where Emma is concerned. I loved how her relationship took a turn for the better with her father, and that she remained true to her friend Emily. Cute romance for her too. Emily and Derek's relationship would make for a great little novella *hint hint*! Reid is every girl’s dream and every parent’s nightmare. Graham is everyone’s dream…including mine, and my inner cougar roared for him. An interesting troupe of secondary characters, namely Brooke, who for all her faults, I grew to like. So be prepared, the ending surprised me and have Where You Are Between the Lines 2 ready to go, because you are going to want to dive in right away!

I love when a book opens up a world that you know the author really understands. I feel like Tammara Webber knows the world of movies (okay, I totally cheated and stalked her a little, and I know her husband and son work in film), and she let a little door open up for all of us so we could peek in. I loved that the 'bad' wasn't monstrous...because it makes sense that the tabloids would exploit and that actors are (shocking!), just like the rest of us. I don't want to include any spoilers, but I hope the twists with Graham and Brooke get explored more fully in book 2 (which I own, and am going to reward myself with after I finish all I need to get done; by the way, I'm being very productive, because the second book is excellent incentive ;)!). I loved that Reid's character is left open to explore as well. I didn't find him shallow as much as damaged and closed off, and I look forward to seeing him open more. Even if it takes until book 3! I'm definitely a character girl when it comes to reading, and the fact that Tammara Webber is following the same characters through (at least) three books delights me. I loved this book, and I'm excited to dive into the next two and see how Emma grows. Will she be able to hold onto her childhood friends? Will Graham's life prove itself to be too different from hers? Will she and Brooke find common ground? Will she and Reid make permanent peace? Will she become a huge star or choose a different path? I'm itching to know, and can't wait to follow all of them on their journey!!
Quick PS...Did anyone else see Graham as a Joseph Gorden-Levitt type, or am I the only one swooning with him in mind when I read Graham?

I don't know what it is about characters who are movie stars that intrigue me. Maybe it's cause I don't find this concept in everyday reads and it's refreshing, but what ever the reason I was really curious about Between the Lines and I'm happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Angst and all.
I'm gonna start by saying I don't really understand why one of the point of views was Reid Alexander? It's hard to explain unless you've read this book, but it almost felt... unnecessary to hear his POV since I basically wanted to slap him upside the head from minute one. I'm gonna guess there is a reason, maybe in upcoming books, but still.
He's a complicated guy. Okay scratch that. He's pompous, a player and pretty much your standard jack-ass. But beneath his daddy issues and the obvious good looks, sexy smile and killer lines I can tell that he wanted to be more then what he is and that it scares the crap out of him at the same time. I think Emma could have changed him, been good for him, but we'll never know and for once I'm not complaining.
~Emma Pierce is a great character. She's levelheaded, doesn't let this fame thing mess with her head and actually wants to be something then just another Hollywood meg-star. I can see why she was so confused. Mixed signals were everywhere in this book which was both frustrating and exciting.
~As for Graham Douglas? ~sigh~ I really loved that guy. Which goes back to why I don't really understand why Reid was one of the POV'S and not Graham. I would have really really really wanted to get in his head with this book. He confused me the most, but oddly I wasn't as frustrated with him as I should have been. I loved his friendship with Emma and I loved how much he looked after Brooke, but what I really love was the real reason behind everything. I gotta say, I nevah saw that coming. Very well played, Webber!
I think for a first novel, Tammara Webber does a fabulous job. I was completely absorbed in the plot-line, reveling in the all the delicious angst while taken in with the Hollywood coming and going's.
In short, this was a really fun book to loss yourself in.
All in all I kinda loved this one. It's different, it's exasperating, and it has some of the best chemistry you could cut with a knife.
But I think the very best thing about this book is that it wasn't predictable. At all. I kept waiting for that moment where all my hopes and dreams for what I wanted to happen dash in utter disappointment...but it never came. Which is a very very good thing.

I think this is one of a few series of books in wich I love exactly ALL THE CHARACTERS...even the ones that are supposed to be either, the mean guy or girl, Emma, Reid, Graham, Brooke, Tadd and oh so many more...
A book that's set on the set, lol, of a movie in progress...where the hot guy is obviously a celebrity and the girl is becoming one...
The complete insight that this book has on the lifes and hearts, minds and lines, that happens while making a script come to life...leaves you wanting more than just to read between the lines...
-Everybody has secrets...every single one of us, there isn't anybody that doesn't have one...either bad or not...
-We all have our own wild side in us...just waiting for the call to come up and take the stage of our lifes.
-We all always get to see the final result, and even some "behind the scenes", but this book takes you exactly to the core of it all.
-Gives a whole new pov of Pride & Prejudice
-Love can struck you either if you want it or not.
-Never give up on your family...no matter the circumstances...really...even if your life wasn't all unicorns and rainbows...or cars and trucks back then...you wouldn't be where you are exactly right now if it weren't for them...
-Don't take your true friends for granted...listen as much as you like to be listened.
-You can't go on in life just reading in between the lines...always come straight forward with what you say, want, or think; if not you might loose more than you had before.
With twists and turns that I really didn't see coming at all...
A beautiful book that had me grabbing the monitor of my computer either from madness or sheer happiness...sitting on the edge of my seat because of the mistery of Graham...or the craziness of Reid, or from the mess in Emma's mind...you either love or hate the book.
But all in all
What this book really is....is A WINNER!

I think this is one of a few series of books in wich I love exactly ALL THE CHARACTERS...even the ones that are supposed to be either, the mean guy or girl, Emma, Reid, Graham, Brooke, Tadd and oh so many more...
A book that's set on the set, lol, of a movie in progress...where the hot guy is obviously a celebrity and the girl is becoming one...
The complete insight that this book has on the lifes and hearts, minds and lines, that happens while making a script come to life...leaves you wanting more than just to read between the lines...
-Everybody has secrets...every single one of us, there isn't anybody that doesn't have one...either bad or not...
-We all have our own wild side in us...just waiting for the call to come up and take the stage of our lifes.
-We all always get to see the final result, and even some "behind the scenes", but this book takes you exactly to the core of it all.
-Gives a whole new pov of Pride & Prejudice
-Love can struck you either if you want it or not.
-Never give up on your family...no matter the circumstances...really...even if your life wasn't all unicorns and rainbows...or cars and trucks back then...you wouldn't be where you are exactly right now if it weren't for them...
-Don't take your true friends for granted...listen as much as you like to be listened.
-You can't go on in life just reading in between the lines...always come straight forward with what you say, want, or think; if not you might loose more than you had before.
With twists and turns that I really didn't see coming at all...
A beautiful book that had me grabbing the monitor of my computer either from madness or sheer happiness...sitting on the edge of my seat because of the mistery of Graham...or the craziness of Reid, or from the mess in Emma's mind...you either love or hate the book.
But all in all
What this book really is....is A WINNER!

Let’s get down to it, shall we?
The Negatives
It’s mostly Reid. The need to drop kick someone has never been so great as with thisboy pig. Seriously?! What was there to like? Sure, he is a highly sought after actor given a face/body to die for, as well as his seemingly bottomless pocket…Oh … OK. But still! His personality desperately needed some attention. The way he went through one girl after another~ unapologetic, had me wanting to punch him. HARD. Did the delusionalromantic in me want him to be better? Did I envision a love so great as to move him to better himself? Sure, I did. AT FIRST. But one humiliation heaped on another and one self-involved internal monologue after another of (a) how hot this or that girl was or (b) what a douche his daddy was, just proved that there was just nothing there! Daddy Issues?! Seriously, daddy issues, that’s all you’ve got, Reid? I He had me seeing red. This feeling was present fro say 90% of the book. He needed to grow up, I thought at first. But grow up into what? A bigger douche? Nope. He needed to grow another personality; grow out of what he was.
But there was Emma too. She’d raised herself, was very inexperienced so I could not completely count her out. But her vacillating from Guy A to Guy B (no matter how hot one was and how good the other was) had me clenching my teeth. That blow up with Emily made perfect sense to me. And yet, I do not dislike her as much as I do Reid. Because it ,is her story and unlike the former… she does grow up and she does prove that she’s got a spine, that she thinks and that she could change. That daddy issues or no, she’s shaped by her choices. And that she acted. Good on her.

Oh yeah. I guess I should write this review now. I read BTL last week and didn't do much else besides give the book a star rating.
Despite a shallow and reckless start to Between the Lines, the last several sections of the book went from frivolous to serious, and knocked me on my ass with emotion.
Reid is Hollywood's "it" boy, the type of person who has always gotten what he wanted, and didn't care who he stepped on to get it. He uses girls like most people go through water, and makes no apologies for his behavior.
Enter Emma - fresh and untouched from the groupie scene. Cast as the lead opposite Reid in a Pride and Prejudice remake, she challenges Reid in a way no other girl has before. So of course, he becomes intrigued. Yes, this type of story can be quite predictable, but go with me here. Things do eventually take a turn into unpredictable territory.
Reid is hard to like at first. He's another young, cocky, and oversexed pretty boy (like we haven't seen enough of this character in YA fiction already, sigh). Thankfully, the author did dig a little deeper into his character in book 2, and I found myself wanting to know more about what was under the surface after seeing that there's more to him than meets the eye.
Not surprisingly, my favorite character in the book was Graham, even though he's only a side character in this installment. If you read the book in its entirety, you'll probably understand why. If you read book 2, which features scenes from Graham's PoV, you'll completely understand why. He is the anti-Reid in every single way, and I'm a big fan.
The first half of the book is irresponsible, get-wasted and do bad things type of fluff. It was fun, but nothing out of the ordinary or worth writing home about. I found myself able to breeze through fairly quickly, and figured I'd write this book off as okay, but didn't know if I'd pick up book 2.
Then we get to the section that made me say, "wow, I was not expecting that to happen!" Needless to say, I had to go out and get book 2 after book 1's ending had me picking my jaw up off the floor. 3.5 stars.

3.5 stars... I really wanted to give this book a 5 star rating, but I just could not do it. It's like saying frozen yogurt tastes just like ice cream.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading this book, I devowered it and I'm already going to start Where You Are... there was just so much of Graham missing and that's all I wanted to read about. Not Reid and his naughty bad boy ways or his train wreck of a child hood. My hope is that I will be rewarded in Where You Are.
Don't even get me started on the two bombshells dropped in this book. One I saw coming but the other... Wow!! Is it bad that the last one just made me love Graham and his wonderful ways more?
Off to read more about Graham...

Summary: Normal Emma Pierce receives the main role in a new major movie, an adaption of Pride and Prejudice. She's acts alongside Reid Alexander, a teen “heartthrob”. And... I'm having a trouble even describing the summary of this book... because not much happens.
Umm...
So I didn't really GET this book. Throughout the whole thing I was sadly bored. I would have put it down, but I hate not finishing things. Sticking with it until the end didn't exactly make it any better.
For one thing, I disliked all of the characters.
Reid in particular. He came off as a complete jerk. A sure way to annoy me is considering the girl as your “prize” or “belonging”, which he did, thinking things like “she's mine”. NO SHE'S NOT. So that was instant dislike from me. Not helping was the fact that he manipulated everyone around him, used emotional blackmail and seriously needed to grow up. There was no character development; at the end he was still exactly the same.
Graham just was kind of... there. I didn't care about him, didn't really consider him that much of a threat. He didn't really do anything. Sigh. Love triangles... They are the worst.
Emma, the main girl, I didn't really care for either, though she was probably the most likable out of all the characters. Even though she didn't have her own personality, at least that I could see. She just did what everyone else told her to do and I felt no connection to her at all throughout the story.
The other characters... well I honestly didn't know who any of them were.
I think I would have preferred the story from just one point of view (it was told in both Emma and Reid's POVs) as I kept getting mixed up with who was narrating a particular bit. The characters didn't have very strong voices, so I kept forgetting who was the one doing the narrating.
The author also could have done more with the movie world. That was what made me pick up the book in the first place and at times I found myself forgetting they were actually filming a movie because they were hardly ever... doing just that.
Honestly? I got BORED. Perhaps others would like it as it was a light, easy read. This book was just not for me.

This book left me so dissatisfied. I am sitting here frowning about how it ended. It's not that it had a sad ending, I think technically it did have a happily ever after... but it just didn't feel that way to me.
The book has split perspectives between Reid (bad boy famous actor) and Emma (good girl newbie actress). I really feel like the Reid stuff was pointless if this book is an Emma/Graham love story. I kept thinking Reid would redeem himself, and he came close a few times, but it just never happened. Reid's last lines are "As much as I wanted to be that guy, I don't have it in me. I am who I am." I just can't but be sad by this. I don't want to spend half of a novel in Reid's head to have nothing come of it.
I realize there are sequels, but I don't even want to read them. I guess I was just hoping for a Reid/Emma happy ending which isn't going to happen. It looks like some new female character is added in the third book as a love interest for Reid, but I'm not curious enough to read it and get to know her. I got emotionally invested in Reid and Emma, so having Emma end up with a different guy and Reid not even meet his love interest until book 3 depresses me.
I found Graham to be nice, but kind of boring and cardboard. He comes across as too perfect and I never believed for a second that he and Brooke had something going on. His "secret" at the end came out of nowhere and I'm shocked that Emma, a barely 18 year old with huge plans for her future, would accept it that quickly. We also barely find out anything about Graham and see very little of his personality, because we're in Reid's head for half the book and there aren't a ton of scenes between Emma and Graham.
Webber's book Easy is one of the best I've read in the last few weeks and I was so excited to read something else by her, only to be really let down by this book. :(

This had a love triangle, a douchebag womanizer male lead and child actors.
And you know what? It was actually good! Color me surprised.
The good stuff:
✔ The show they're filming is a modern version of "Pride and Prejudice" and I firmly believe everything can be made better with a hearty dose of Liz Bennet and Mr. Darcy.
✔ The banter and antics of the unsupervised teenagers were pretty much what I remember from that time (minus the celebrity status): Lots of drinking and drunken speeches and laughing.
✔ The relationship between Emma and Graham is slow and sweet and awesome. I suddenly understand why people talk about book boyfriends... I seriously wanted to just shove Emma away and marry the guy myself!
And you know what? It was actually good! Color me surprised.

It’s a teen celebrity drama-fest, and I can’t get enough!
This book has been on my tbr forever, and I’m so glad I finally made a start. It’s clever and unexpected with a great mix of drama, angst, humour and romance and I am completely hooked!
Emma Pierce is 17 years old, and is an actress who has just landed a role in a movie which could catapult her into super stardom. Added to that, she is co-starring with the hottest boy in Hollywood, and her celebrity crush, Reid Alexander.
Reid is hot property. Gorgeous, rich and successful, he gets what he wants, when he wants it, and he revels in the celebrity lifestyle. When shy and mostly unknown Emma is cast as his love interest in his newest film, the chemistry between them is electric, and he sets his sights on her.
During three months away on location in Austin, Emma, Reid and their co-stars grow close, and all of the different personalities create some fantastic dynamics. Especially when they include with Reid’s fellow party boys, his seemingly stuck-up and bitter ex-girlfriend, young but seasoned professionals and a sweet and friendly indie star. There is drinking, partying and lots of hanging out in between filming, and as the gossip sites go crazy over the behaviour between the cast members, secrets are revealed, love blossoms, and Emma starts to examine what, and who, it is that she really wants.
I loved this book! It is written in the dual POVs of Emma and Reid, and I loved the different perspectives to the story. Both of them have personal stuff that they are dealing with, and they both react to all that they are going through together very differently. The storyline definitely wasn’t what I was expecting, and I thought it was really cleverly put together.

It’s all very YA, but with some mature themes, and I thought it was really well written. I was instantly drawn into the story, and couldn’t put it down (I listened to it as an audiobook, and the narrators did an amazing job!). It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but I’m still going straight on to the next book in the series.
I loved it – 4 stars.

Я большая поклонница ее творчества, мне нравится ее стиль написания, ее истории, ее герои, мне интересны проблемы которые в своих романах поднимает Веббер. Обожаю ее другую серию книг под названием «Contours of the Heart», где автору лихо удалось смешать драму с любовным романом. Поэтому ждала нечто похожего, даже, несмотря, на достаточно странное место действий.
«Between the Lines» - переносит нас в Голливуд, на съемки ремейка знаменитого роман Джейн Остин «Гордость и предубеждения», где страсти кипят между молодыми и знаменитыми актерами. Вместе с героями: Ридом и Эммой (хотя на самом деле героев в книге больше, но от их лица видеться повествование, так что я смело буду считать их центральными персонажами), мы окажется закулисами, побываем на репетициях, съемках, закрытых вечеринках, вообщем, окунемся во все тяжки жизни молодых звезд.
Рид этакая яркая звездочка, герой-любовник, знатный бабник. Парень приятный, я бы даже назвала его милым. Эмма этакая милая, добрая девушка, к карьере относиться серьезно, ни в каких голливудских скандалах не замечена. Вообщем, полная противоположность девушек с которыми привык общаться Рид. Для Эммы роль в ремейке поворотный момент в карьере. Конечно же, между героями начинают завязываться романтические отношения. Рид мне понравился. Он что-то среднее между разными героями, и не плохой и не хороший. Что мне понравилось. Допустим, он искренне хочется встречаться с Эммой, и понимает, что она девушка не на одной ночь. Ради нее он готов завязать с гулянками, хотя нифига этого не делает, паршивец, так как тут же искренне считает, что у них с Эммой еще не так стадия когда они вместе-вместе. И грешки у него есть за душой, не смотря на юный возраст. На съемках, Эмма так же знакомится с еще одним красавцем – Грэмом, с которым у нее завяжутся очень не однозначные отношения. Вообщем, да будет намек на любовный треугольник, хотя и не явный. Эмма и Грэм буду общаться скорее как друзья, и Грэм в противовес открытому Риду, будет весь такой таинственный, непонятный, замкнутый. Этаким «мистер Загадка». Опять же очень мне понравился как персонаж. Эти «трио» пришлось мне очень по душе. Хотя все герои по своему интересные, живые и приятные.
Так что если вы собираетесь почитать «Between the Lines» стоит ожидать достаточно спокойного любовного романа на фоне съемок фильма с героями, которые только вышли из подросткового возраста, но уже попали в коварный мир где им доступно все, так что не стоит удивительно что они чуточку испорченные, распутные и безответственные. В этом мире алкоголь льется рекой, беспорядочные связи никого не удивляют, интриги и страсти кипят, а папарацци уже сидят за углом, чтобы заснят очередной скандал для первых полос гламурных журналов.
Рейтинг книги +16 , без особых пошлостей, очень душевно и интересно. Обязательно буду читать эту серию дальше.

Так что если вы собираетесь почитать «Between the Lines» стоит ожидать достаточно спокойного любовного романа на фоне съемок фильма с героями, которые только вышли из подросткового возраста, но уже попали в коварный мир где им доступно все, так что не стоит удивительно что они чуточку испорченные, распутные и безответственные. В этом мире алкоголь льется рекой, беспорядочные связи никого не удивляют, интриги и страсти кипят, а папарацци уже сидят за углом, чтобы заснят очередной скандал для первых полос гламурных журналов.
Рейтинг книги +16 , без особых пошлостей, очень душевно и интересно. Обязательно буду читать эту серию дальше.

I am on a roll. I've had luck this past week and read only good books. [image error] Woooo-Hoooo!
And Between the Lines is one of them. Once I finally picked it up,I just couldn't put it down even though I have a major exam on Friday and need to study(but I never do).
What I really loved about this book is that the story revolves around people who are filming a (teen) adaptation to Pride and Prejudice. What can I say? Gotta love Mr.Darcy in any form.Either he looks like Colin Firth,Matthew Macfadyen or Reid Alexander(guy from this book).
There are these two guys,obviously one is Darcy and the other is Wickham but as usual it's not that simple. You see,Reid plays Darcy in the movie,and the other guy-Graham plays Collins. So,one of them is the 'real life' Mr.Darcy and the other is just a man whore. Our girl,Emma makes a mistake and just like Lizzie trusts Wickham and you can't help but yell Leave the bastard! Pick the good guy!

Takes talent for an author to be able to write an amazing book (Easy) and the most boring and pointless book ever, kudos.

Hmmmm, I have a lot of conflicting thoughts of this book.
On one hand Graham was so awesome. Every scene he was in just put a smile on my face. And hey, black hair and dark eyes... long muscled lean body... My kinda guy! The scenes between him and Emma were so sweet. I love a slow building romance, just look at my love for Matt in Flat Out Love. A friendship but you can tell he wants more, it just tugs your heart.
On the other hand, you have to read 60% about Reid. See, it is my belief that if I have to read a major storyline about a character that's an ass, they should have some redeeming qualities to make me care about them. Eliza Boans from Fury is the perfect example of this. The things she would say or think would make me wince, but at the same time there was a vulnerability to her that made you CARE. Reid lacked this. I couldn't see any reason for me to give a crap about him. And this is a bad recipe for a book in which he's one of the main characters.
So, here I am wanting more about Graham's feelings for Emma, but I'm being forced to read about Reid and Emma and I just couldn't make myself care.
I'm told the next book is better, and I know it has more Graham, so I'm moving directly into the second. Normally I don't do this. Normally I break them up with something else, except I just feel completely unsatisfied.

This is another one where my liking of the book was probably enhanced by my liking of the author's other books, but I DID like it. MUCH more the Hollywood story I want to read, where it's just about their lives and not the EVILNESS of fame.
I thought the POV choice was interesting.
A lot of the conflict was due to lack of communication, which MOSTLY didn't bug me TOO much. The characters are young enough (late teens/early 20's) that I bought it for them.
And I liked the characters a lot. (Well, maybe not Reid. He seems too cliche at this point.)

Emma Pierce is a 17 year old actress who has mostly made commercials and filmed smaller parts in Lifetime movies. Now she’s up for her first leading role in a wide-release film, even though it’s not really how she wants to go with her acting. Placed under pressure by her manager-father and stepmother, Emma auditions for the role of Lizbeth Bennet in a modern day remake of Pride & Prejudice set in an American high school. It’s one of Emma’s favourite books and closely tied to the memory she has of her mother, who died when Emma was 6. When Emma is awarded the role, mostly due to the chemistry she has with the actor playing Will Darcy, she packs her bags for a shoot in Austin, Texas.
Reid Alexander is the current “It boy” of movies. He’s determined to make this film, School Pride another roaring success and help raise his celebrity profile even more. When Reid does read-throughs with the potential Lizbeths, he knows that there’s only one choice – Emma Pierce. She’s perfect for the role and she interests Reid on many levels outside of filming as well. He begins putting in all effort to win Emma, who isn’t like the other starlets and hangers-on that he’s used to scoring with. Emma is different and although she isn’t immune to the Reid charm, she doesn’t give in all the way either. And Reid faces some competition from Graham, another actor on set who seems to be spending an awful lot of time with Emma.
Torn between two very different males, Emma isn’t sure what she wants. On one hand, Reid is handsome, charming, a superstar and seems to be playing the perfect boyfriend, even if he is beginning to push that little bit further than she’s willing to go. Emma feels that she can really talk to Graham – she’s comfortable around him. But Graham also seems to be involved with Brooke, another cast member who also has a history with Reid. This world is very new to Emma and she’s struggling to negotiate it all.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Tammara Webber, particularly about her book Easy. I picked up this very cheap on Kindle months ago and filed it away in my YA folder, ready for…one day. That day came when I received the second novel for review. Once self-published, this series (and Easy) have been picked up for publication in the UK and Australia by Penguin Books. Given what I’d heard, I expected to love this one, but unfortunately, I did not.
The narrative is split 50-50 between Reid and Emma and although this juxtaposes Emma’s naive, new-star view with Reid’s spoiled, jaded one, it also means that I spent a lot of time in Reid’s selfish mind, which I did not particularly enjoy. That’s kind of an understatement – I actually came to dislike Reid quite a lot. I didn’t feel sorry for him, with his ‘little rich boy with the distant father and descending-into-alcoholism mother’. His very attitude towards women, towards life, towards everything, rubbed me the wrong way. Reid is such a cliché, in the very worst sense of the word. He’s two dimensional, he’s utterly, utterly boring. And later in the book he goes from behaving like a brat to behaving like a total douchebag. You want to be an adult, Reid? You want to be independent and prove how much of a man you are? Maybe start acting like one.

Emma on the other hand, is relatively inoffensive although she seems to possess very little willpower and strength of character. She doesn’t even seem to know why she likes Reid, other than he’s rich, he’s famous, he’s Reid. They don’t talk, they don’t connect on any level other than a semi-physical one but even that seems very forced. The amazing chemistry that they were supposed to have from Emma’s first audition was totally missing for me. I didn’t see it, I was only told about it. And when they connected as a couple, it was severely lacking. Emma spends most of the time wondering how she can get out of having to have sex with him and Reid spends most of the time wondering how he can finally get her to have sex with him. If you have to think about how to break it that you’re not ready (all of this takes place over the course of like, a week or two) then you need a new boyfriend. Reid is so used to girls just giving him everything because he’s a movie star that he doesn’t know how to have an actual relationship – in fact it takes him a long time to even figure out if that’s what they’re having and if that’s what he wants. He’s also annoyingly jealous of Emma’s morning runs with co-star Graham but seems to conveniently forget that he’s out there getting his “needs met” when Emma isn’t ready. Ugh. Also? Reid and Graham have something in common that just seems so unbelievable. The fact that they deal with it in totally different ways is supposed to show the reader how fundamentally different they are as characters.

This book had a perfectly adequate ending and I see no reason to revisit Reid at all and have another character from this novel do a total 180 in order to cause conflict in the next. Trilogies these days are really beginning to make me question why there’s a need for a 3 book arc when so many can really be done in 1.

Between the Lines es la novela debut de Tammara Webber, ¡y qué debut!
Esta novela fue asombrosa, me encantó que haya estado narrado desde diferentes puntos de vista entre Emma y Reid. De los cuales, he de admitir que disfrute leer desde la perspectiva de Emma. La cual cuando las cámaras no están grabando, es tímida, pero quien también saca las garras cuando lo necesita. Sinceramente, Emma es un personaje realista, en ella podemos ver los problemas por los que la mayoría de las adolescentes se enfrentan. Es todo lo que protagonista femenina tiene que tener. Es fuerte y sabe luchar por sí misma, pero tiene defectos y debilidades como todos nosotros.
Por otro lado, hay dos chicos los cuales que me tuvieron en una encrucijada: Reid y Graham. Ambos completamente diferentes, dos polos opuestos. Reid: cínico, arrogante, seguro de sí mismo que no le importa nadie más que él. Pero, después tenemos a Graham: leal hacia sus amigos, protector, buena onda, y se puede decir que hasta tímido. Siempre que comienzo a leer un libro, sé que personaje (masculino) es mi preferido, el cuál apoyaré hasta el final de la historia. Pero en este libro, fue diferente. Se me hacía imposible elegir por uno de los dos, pero fue la actitud presuntuosa de Reid lo que me conquistó. (¡Hey, no me culpen, esos chicos son mi debilidad!) Francamente, me encantó amar/odiar a Reid, lo cual creo era el objetivo de Webber, pero lo seguiré amando odiando hasta aprenda a respetar a los demás.
A pesar de que la historia sea un cliché, Webber no evadió temas como alcohol, drogas y sexo como otros libros lo hacen. Los cuales, aceptémoslo o no, forman parte de las vidas de la mayoría de los adolescentes hoy en día. También hubo momentos y conflictos inesperados que, sinceramente, no veía venir. Y el final… sólo les puedo decir que no es el final estándar o estereotipo que vemos en la mayoría de los libros. Y no les diré más porque no lo quiero estropear ;)
Webber ha anunciado que habrá dos libros más. El siguiente saldrá en octubre el cual lleva como título Where You Are. Y el tercer y último será publicado en diciembre del mismo año. En fin, no tengo nada más que agregar, sólo que cuando lean Between the Lines, mantengan una mente abierta hacia la trama, la cual, como ya dije, cuenta con temas fuertes. Pero algo les puedo asegurar, ¡no se arrepentirán de leerla!

Mostly when an author approaches me to review their book, it’s for a self-published work. I was very wary of reading them at first, but after reading In The Storm by Karen Metcalf I realized that there are some really great self-published works out there. Yes, they might not be the best edited or the most complete well rounded story, but these authors have amazing potential. Some have even more than just potential; they know how to capture a reader. Between the Lines is one of those stories that makes me wonder how it could have not been picked up by some major publishing companies and for that reason it is this months Spread the Word pick. (This is a feature for self-published or small publisher’s books to Spread the Word about some great but not well known authors and books)
If you have read Jenna and Jonah’s Fauxmance this book will immediately appeal to you. It has that same interesting premise of what it’s really like in an actor’s and actress’s life, and lets just say they don’t have it easy. They have family issues, they have lost people, they have been hurt and that’s what makes this book so great. I really connected with both Reid and Emma. Though this book was not as I thought it would be -four viewpoints- you still get a bit of everyone’s story. You see two parallel lives and you wish the best for both Emma and Reid.
And let me tell you they are funny. Bad boy Reid and sweet Emma, I feel like they are really out there somewhere, their voice was so genuine and real. I loved the distinction when it was Emma’s voice, she described everything and her emotion, while Reid the guy voice was sparse and to the point. Even when Reid was a jerk, I knew where he was coming from. And while I love Reid, I complete fell head over heels for Graham. *Swoon*

Acabó de terminar este libro, así que teniendo todo fresco en mi cerebro decidí compartir cuanto me gusto la historia. Tenía grandes esperanzas en este libro, !Y no me defraudo!
A pesar de que la historia es un cliché, (Enamorarse de un famoso actor no es lo más original del mundo), la personalidad arrogante, presuntuosa y cínica de Reid me enamoro. El libro está narrado desde varios puntos de vista, así que pude meterme en la cabeza de los personajes principales.
Me gustó la personalidad de Emma, podía sentir su pasión por la actuación, pero también el comienzo del anhelo por una vida normal, sin los chismes, malicia y los paparazzi que comenzaban a intimidarla. También me gusto que no fuera tan inocente, y pudiera ser igual de perra para contestar inteligentemente algún comentario malintencionado.
Los capítulos son cortos, y cuando menos lo noté, el libro ya estaba acabado. Deseando saber más de Emma y Reid, que pasaría con Graham y la ex novia.
La autora creo algo sorprendente, protagonistas con defectos y virtudes, capaces de reconocer sus errores, de enamorarse lentamente, y no evito temas como sexo, alcohol y drogas, cosas que normalmente muchos libros YA evitan.
El libro tiene un lenguaje fuerte, y personajes que no dudan en decir lo que pasa por su cabeza, así que deben de tener una personalidad abierta con este libro.
El triangulo amoroso, la desconfianza, la amistad, lo bueno y lo malo que hay en las relaciones se pueden ver aquí, sin llegar a lo imposible o a lo exagerado.
