CFBI Agent and Pyro-Psychic Jasi McLellan battles a serious infection that threatens to claim her life. Slipping in and out of consciousness, she remembers the Parliament Murders...One by one, members of Ontario's Parliament are disappearing, only to be found days later, disoriented and drugged. Or worse―dead. Police are stumped and the CFBI brings in a covert PSI team, agents with special psychic abilities.Accompanied by Psychometric Empath Ben Roberts and new team member Victim Empath Natassia Prushenko, Jasi heads for Ottawa and uncovers a plot so devious that Canada's national security is at risk. If that isn't enough to deal with, Jasi bumps into old flame, Zane Underhill, who wants to rekindle their relationship that ended three years earlier. But the investigation takes precedent and Jasi is forced to place her feelings for Zane on hold in order to find a killer who has more than justice in mind for his victims, and in the end she makes a gut-wrenching decision―one that will cost the life of someone close to her."Divine Justice is a powerfully-written chill ride that will give you nightmares. Best to keep the lights on with this one." ―Rick Mofina, bestselling author of In Desperation"This fast-paced thriller should be a runaway best-seller. Divine Justice reminds me of CSI or Medium. If you like J.D. Robb's In Death series, you'll love Cheryl Kaye Tardif's Divine series." ―Midwest Book Review, Betty Dravis, co-author of Dream Reachers series"One of those 'sitting on the edge of your seats' read as the team unravels the mystery and tries to solve the case. It is a unique blend of action, mystery...This book is highly recommended." ―Margaret Orford, Allbooks Review

I am an avid reader and an international bestselling suspense author. My novels are often cross-genre works that fall into the categories of suspense, mystery or thriller.

My books have been compared to works by Stephen King, Jodi Picoult, Sue Monk Kidd, J.D. Robb, Kay Hooper, James Patterson, Dan Brown, and Michael Crichton.

I am always asked that one question: "Cheryl, what do you do?"

My reply: "I kill people off for a living." ;) CKT

Review based on eBook

A prequel within a sequel, answers to questions considered from "Divine Intervention" with its many references to The Parliament Murders. This second book begins with an unconscious leader of a PSI team of the Canadian Federal Bureau of Investigation (CFBI), Jasmine (Jasi) McLellan. She has been hospitalized after the gunshot wound she received in the previous book went sour and developed a serious blood infection. Even worse, it was discovered on this second trip to hospital that she also had a concussion with brain swelling. Doctors are non-committal at this point, but a threat does hang over her that if they can't stop the infection from spreading to her heart, they are looking at amputation. This is enough to terrify her friend and co-worker, Victim Empath Natassia Prushenko, and seriously affect her other partner Ben Roberts, top profiler and Psychometic Empath. Three months have gone by since Natassia joined the PSI team, working on the case that had been solved only weeks ago, leaving Jasi with her injuries. In her coma, she is living in the prequel, reliving The Parliament Murders, while friends and family are living in the sequel to the first book. They are in the present, which happens to be July, 2012.

I am one reader of probably a large number of readers who really wanted to learn the story of The Parliament Murders, and now we have it. Cheryl Kaye Tardif has whet our appetites and then come through with a great read to digest! I love this concept, giving us the earlier story through Jasi's coma, and perhaps her subconscious feelings of guilt. At the same time we are getting snippets of what is happening with the rest of the team waiting and watching over her. The high suspense factor of The Parliament Murders is heart-pounding and the desperation to solve the case is every bit as exciting, though told through Jasi's mind. Someone is killing off the Canadian Members of Parliament in Ottawa, one by one, and doing a nasty job of it, too. What is the connection between the victims? A reason doesn't seem to be forthcoming. This is the case that bothers Jasi so much. The story is well focused, fast-paced, a real thriller. The action and race against time happening in Jasi's mind is underscored by the perception of the slow passage of time by her friends, family, and medical staff, waiting, fearing. A dramatic conflict of perceived time.

One thing I like about series is how the characters grow and become familiar. It's somewhat like adding people to your group of friends or family. This is also true in a working community, especially in a high risk group who provide a safety net for each others' lives. These PSI investigators are definitely a family, tuned in to each member's needs, and abilities. We met them in Divine Intervention and learn a little more about them as they wait for Jasi to wake up. Another great psi-fi thriller from Cheryl Kaye Tardif.

4/17/2012, Ottawa Forensics Unit (Ottawa, Ontario Canada). CFBI SA Jasmine “Jasi” McLellan (Pyro-Psychic) came to see Dr. Faith Copeland (Scottish, Chief pathologist), about the deceased Monty Winkler (pathologist, forensics, Parliament member).
He had drowned at Mud Lake (MacDonald Cartier Bridge).
Constable Finn O’Malley (RCMP) was assigned to the case.
CFBI SA Jasmine “Jasi” McLellan (Level 1) & CFBI SA Natassia Prushenko (Russian, Level 1) went to see how Marilyn Winkler (wife, CEO Paragon Research Corp., PRC) was doing.
Monty had a $2 million life insurance policy.
Marilyn of course did not need any more money.

7/3/2012, Vancouver General Hospital (Vancouver, BC). Jasi had been shot & was released but got a serious infection & was back in the ICU.
CFBI SA Natassia Prushenko (Russian, Level 1) & CFBI SA Benjamin “Ben” Roberts (Level 3) both Psychometric Empath (PSI, team leader, profiler) hoping she will soon make a full recovery.
Matthew Divine had created the Divine Operations PSI Unit.
Dr. Mohinder Habib informed everyone that Jasi was functional but in a coma.
The Paragon researches UFO phenomenon.
Come to find out Monty Winkler (Marilyn’s dad) had been murdered.
Lorraine Sampson (wife) reported her husband Porter Lee Sampson (minister of finance, alcoholic) has disappeared.

CFBI Agent Benjamin Roberts came to interview Lorraine.
His body had been dumped in the park.
CFBI Agent Roberts went to interview Marilyn Winkler (47, daughter).
CFBI SA Jasi, CFBI SA Prushenko & CFBI Agent Roberts went to pay Deirdre Dailey (satellite transmission research tech, Monty’s daughter) a visit at the Paragon Research Corporation (Shirley’s Bay, Ottawa River).

Why did Dr. Zane Underhill (Australian, psychologist, Jasi’s ex-lover) name keep coming up in the investigation?

Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violent or graphic adult content or profanity &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written murder mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great murder mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Divine Justice
by Cheryl Kaye Tardif (Goodreads Author)

Synopsis from Goodreads:

"CFBI Agent and Pyro-Psychic Jasi McLellan battles a serious infection that threatens to claim her life. Slipping in and out of consciousness, she remembers the Parliament Murders...

One by one, members of Ontario's Parliament are disappearing, only to be found days later, disoriented and drugged. Or worse―dead. Police are stumped and the CFBI brings in a covert PSI team, agents with special psychic abilities.

Accompanied by Psychometric Empath Ben Roberts and new team member Victim Empath Natassia Prushenko, Jasi heads for Ottawa and uncovers a plot so devious that Canada's national security is at risk. If that isn't enough to deal with, Jasi bumps into old flame, Zane Underhill, who wants to rekindle their relationship that ended three years earlier.

But the investigation takes precedent and Jasi is forced to place her feelings for Zane on hold in order to find a killer who has more than justice in mind for his victims, and in the end she makes a gut-wrenching decision―one that will cost the life of someone close to her."

Let me start by saying this is a very interesting and complicated read. The primary characters are government agents that are part of a special branch that utilizes persons with psychic abilities. Each agent has different and unique abilities which enable them to solve unusual and sensitive crimes. I found this story intriguing and at times a little difficult to follow, as it would jump back and forth between the present and, for lack of a better term, a "dream sequence or coma like state." The real problem stems from the fact that this is book two in the series. I was gifted book one, Devine Intervention, by the author in a giveaway and as I love a series I immediately jumped over and bought book two, Devine Justice and got the two books mixed up. There a many series out there, especially series that are ongoing, that label in parentheses next to the title book one, book two, etcetera and I would definitely recommend that be done for this series. Yes I am at times an absentminded nutbunny and the bottom line here is - book one should be read before book two  I am not saying that I did not enjoy the book because I did very much, it is very well written, and the characters are well defined. There is loads of action and very unique psychic abilities that are definitely something new - and I just love a little something new. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspenseful read with engaging characters that have unusual psychic abilities, but don't forget to read book one first I'm heading over to it now and know I will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed this a lot more than the first in the series. Possibly because I already knew the characters and all the little tech devices they utilise, etc....It also had fewer mistakes though there were still errors, sadly, along with some continuation mistakes I spotted which confused me a few times and had me zipping back to see if I'd remembered things wrongly........and I hadn't !!
There were apostrophe mistakes and annoyingly she STILL spelt pored as poured as I'd noted in the first instalment. It was irritating that it was wrong again.
Ichabod Crane was written as Icabod and at one point Winkler written as Winker. I find that a huge transgression in any book when an author spells one of THEIR characters wrong !! Marquee was spelled marquis and losing as loosing. Someone was shot in the head but on the next page somebody was informed it was his arm-a bit of a difference !!
You might wonder why I awarded this 5 stars with all the mistakes I noticed as I usually knock them off but it really was a cracking story. It kept you guessing all along and flew along very nicely and kept my interest throughout. I look forward to the third one in the series, which to my knowledge is also the last. I hope that's not the case. She's created an interesting set of characters here and there's lots more to come from each one of them and more to explore of each of their own situations, I'd say.
I really liked her final note in her acknowledgements at the end as well. That made me grin.

DIVINE JUSTICE CHERYL KAYE TARDIF

While in a coma after being shot Jasmine Mclellan remembers who she and her team solved the Parliament Murders.
This is great literature if you are a Canadian and can appreciate the political backdrop. Even if you are not it has great suspense and overall a great story line.
The author has done a great job in telling the story the way she has by using the reminicense of one of the characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story as I was unable to put it down and found myself wanting more when I was done.
Definitely another five star read from CHERYL KAYE TARDIF!

This second book in the divine trilogy is actually the prequal, but don't be tempted reading it first. The characters introduced in part 1 become further developed in this story and some scenes/sentences make only sense when read in sequence.
Though, it is a closed story and the main plot can stand on it's own!
Jasi re-lives an event that defines who she is and explains her dealings with Brendan. In parallel the team is tightened by what happened and the ghosts of the past raise their voices to be heard.
This book is (as usual for Cheryl) a page turner and guarantees thrilled and suspended hours of reading. At the end you may feel like a butterfly just snatched from it's cocoon ;-)

I loved the first of this trilogy, Divine Intervention, and was very eager to read the follow-up. Upon the first couple of pages, I felt perhaps this might be a bit of a let-down. I'm not a big fan of flashbacks. But boy was I wrong. This was an excellent, well-crafted novel with compelling characters, somewhat terrifying storyline, and a wonderful set-up for the final instalment in the trilogy. I am not going to read that one for a bit - savour it as you will. I don't give 5 stars often at all - but for any mystery fan, with a hint of the paranormal, you will absolutely love this series.

This is a sequel that is also a prequel. It is set at the time after the latest case featured in the first installment, but it talks about an earlier case as recalled by Jasi, the main character, while she was in a coma.

I find this better than the first one, though I can't still get my mind around the proliferation of super, uber high technology in 2012.

The mystery about Emily remains unsolved. No talk of book 3 yet, but I'm sure to wait for that, just to know how Emily's story will pan out.

This book was okay, I'm not sure why she decided to write this second and not first. Putting your main character in a semi-coma to tell about the case that began her career is something I haven't read before and didn't enjoy it as much as if she'd just written the first book of the series with the first case. That said I have begun the 3 and final in this series so maybe it will all make more sense after that one. Kind of like watching the second movie and then watching the first to see what you may have missed ;)

It's a suspenseful mystery read. Has a great plot with brain-washing,politics, and a gifted pyscic who the FBI depend on to solve crucial cases :) The paranormal part is weak, and it has a few sexual scens but I didn't mind. Overall, good read!
