An exciting new spy series for kids ages 8-12 from master storyteller Peter Lerangis. Twins Andrew and Evie must decode clues that lead to their missing mother, a spy on the run from a gov't agency.
It's been almost a full year since Andrew and Evie's mom disappeared, and the twins are determined to find her. They've been following her trail, decoding the clues she's left them. And that trail is drawing them closer to their mother than ever before. But now the Company is on to the fact that Mom is communicating with the twins -- and they'll do anything to get to her first. The Company's agents are desperate to intercept Mom's messages. It's up to Andrew and Evie to stop them -- and to find Mom before her enemies do.
Lerangis's work includes The Viper's Nest and The Sword Thief, two titles in the children's-book series The 39 Clues, the historical novel Smiler's Bones, the YA dark comedy-adventure novel wtf, the Drama Club series, the Spy X series, the Watchers series, the Abracadabra series, and the Antarctica two-book adventure, as well ghostwriting for series such as the Three Investigators, the Hardy Boys Casefiles, Sweet Valley Twins, and more than forty books in the series The Baby-sitters Club and its various spin-offs.[1] He has also written novels based on film screenplays, including The Sixth Sense, Sleepy Hollow, and Beauty and the Beast, and five video game novelizations in the Worlds of Power series created by Seth Godin.[2] As a ghostwriter he has been published under the name A. L. Singer.[3] Lerangis is the son of a retired New York Telephone Company employee and a retired public-elementary-school secretary, who raised him in Freeport, New York on Long Island. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in biochemistry, while acting in musicals[4] and singing with and musically directing the a cappella group the Harvard Krokodiloes,[5][6] before moving to New York. He worked there as an actor[7] and freelance copy editor for eight years before becoming an author.[8] In 2003, Lerangis was chosen by First Lady Laura Bush to accompany her to the first Russian Book Festival, hosted by Russian First Lady Lyudmila Putina in Moscow.[9][10]Authors R. L. Stine (Goosebumps) and Marc Brown (the Arthur the Aardvark series) also made the trip with Bush.[9] Also in 2003, Lerangis was commissioned by the United Kingdom branch of Scholastic to write X-Isle, one of four books that would relaunch the Point Horror series there.[11] A sequel, Return to X-Isle, was published in 2004. In 2007, Scholastic announced the launch of a new historical mystery series called The 39 Clues, intended to become a franchise.[12] Lerangis wrote the third book in the series, The Sword Thief, published in March 2009.[13][14][15] On March 3, 2009, Scholastic announced that Lerangis would write the seventh book in the series, The Viper's Nest.[14][16] Lerangis lives in New York City with his wife, musician Tina deVaron, and their sons Nick and Joe.[17]
Evie and Andrew get a package with messages then recive another package from their mom with clues that lead them to a secret tunnle than not even The Company knows about! what happens in the tunnle is....read it and find out!!!!!
Man, oh man. This one was as good as I remember from back in the day. The twists and turns. I wonder how it will all end? I do have to say that the traitor codes were far easier than the ones their mom comes up with. I was able to solve them fairly quickly. This, in my opinion, should have been a red flag. Also, parents can usually see the texts their children send and receive. Even back in the day.

I thought this book was Amazing because i just love these types of books with cliff hangers and because i love books with clues. I also like this book because it's by one of my favorite author's.
This one ended on a cliffhanger too! And I feel totally surprised, confused, and pumped full of excitement. Seriously!
The twins - as well as the reader - must try to figure out who Andrew and Evie can trust. But it's not that simple. No one is as they seem. Or are they?
OH MY LAND, I CAN'T READ THE NEXT BOOK UNTIL SATURDAY NIGHT OR SUNDAY! D: But seriously, if you're reading this review, you MUST read this series if you like/love mysteries and/or spy-related stories. This. Is. Amazing.
Again, reduced the rating to four stars because of the whole disobedience factor as mentioned in my reviews for the first book and the second book. But otherwise, it would totally be five stars.
I thought it was a great book. The only problem was that in the end it disappointed me. I felt like they didn't actually end the book. They didn't explain any of it really. Other than that, it was a great book.
great book. read the entier thing in like 1 hour & 30 min. I felt like my eyes were gonna fall out but I couldn't pull away!!!!!! So if you like amazing books and you perfer your bloodshot eyes out of your head sitting next to you, this is the book for you.
I love following the clues with kids my age. It may be a short book but it sure is a page turner! The ending was kind of shocking. They may have found mom but is she or Pa on the dark side? I can't believe they saw him in the tunnel. I don't even have the fourth book so I'm left hanging...
11 11 11 was the day Andrew and Evie's mom disappeared, and now it's almost 11 11 12. What are Andrew and Evie to do? Peter Lerangis writes a suspense builder until the end.
Im a very fast reader, and this book went by pretty fast... just like the rest of the Spy X books. this was a stupid book. I'm not being too rude to Peter Lerangis, am I?
Good book with lots of clues and mysteries involved. If you like books that have a lot of excitement and shocking events then I think you should read this. P.S. short but good.
This was so good. 2 main plots. The last plot is on the very last page within the last three words 1st plot twist was on page 73 This book was rlly good!
Twins Evie and Andrew are still on the tail of their mother who has been missing for 10 months. Through secret spy codes, the twins grow closer to their mom. But can the twins decipher the difference between false clues to lure them away from their mother and real ones that will lead them closer to her? I enjoyed reading this book, especially because of the added twist.
