Series: Book #2 in Double Threat Series

I'm telling you this series gets better with each book. It is sophmore year for Megan Miller and her bestfriends Keesha and Stephanie. At last all three girls find love. But circumstances get in the way for each couple causing breakups and heartache.
We get a new character, face an old enemy and mend some broken fences. OH, and Amy is still a BEEYOTCH! In Double Threat My Bleep

Brief Summary
Finally Meg and Alex are a couple yet the two are miles and miles apart becuase he is up state attending Berkley. Mean while Meg does a double. She must combat all the high school drama that occurs at Carver High and also fight off worries about the buffet of college chicks out to tempt her boyfriend. Sexy older college chicks. As usual Meg rolls out of bed late, again on the first day of school.
Now at school hoping to not be stuck in a class with Amy or Eric is her most pressing issue. However that ends quick because guess who is in her first period class? Amy. But whatever life must go on; and on it goes when a new friend(Travis)is brought into the fold. Travis has one thing on his mind. Making Meg his. He knows she is dating a college guy and that its only a matter of time before the guy either screws up, OR the distance between the two becomes an issue. Whatever the case he let's his intentions be known.

Fave scene
Scene setup: The girls are all having a sleepover at Meg's house when the topic of what to call a penis other that the clinical term "penis". After a few names are tossed into the air Meg thinks of an idea to send a mass text to their male friends to see what they call a penis. Check it out
"Wow, Meg, What are we gonna say? What do you call your penis?"-Steph
"Why not? This should be fun,"- Keesh declares taking out her phone Within seconds text start flying
Replies
excuse me?

Once the girls explain that they are trying to come up with another word instead of calling it a penis new replies pour in
Alex: I'll play along...here's a nice one...stiffy;)
Ben: whatever ladies this is weird but you can call it a flesh wand...lol
Josh: manhandle...dis is wat ur talkin bout at ur slumber prty

"They must think we're total sickos,"- Steph
"Yeah but they're loving it and you know they're all calling or texting eachother trying to figure out what's going on over here"- Meg
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Thoughts
OMG I love love love this series i swear this could be a T.V. series on ABC Family. HINT HINT to Disney ABC's parent company;) Book #2 Has Meg and Alex struggling with the long distance relationship plus the three year age gap. Their ongoing battle of what to do was rough to read through. When Keesha and Jon get sudden devastating news that will effect the dynamics of their relationship my heart broke. And it also broke the hearts of all of their friends in the process. I tell you the blow was hard to recover from. Then we have Steph and Dom these two come up with a plan to help avoid heartache. Well Possibly, we'll see how that works out for them in book #3.
As expected the writing is superb and the story lines provide great laughs and big SHOCKERS. The pacing is good nothing drags along.
Alex- I may not agree with his decisions but sometimes you have to do what you think is right. And that is what Alex did. He is a good guy and i like that about him.
Meg- What is there not to love about Meg she ROCKED! Loves her!
Keesha- I think my heart broke the most for her... She recovered, but damn...
Steph-Was her usual plan everything out self. She stuck to what she knows and it works for her. Her and Dominic are sooo adorable together.
Ben-Watchout now the guy is morphing into a man. And its a good look on him. Ben has done a 180 and i love it.
Jon Jon- Oh Jon Jon.... He is such a sweetheart.
Travis- The new kid on the block(pun intended) I loved Travis this guy blends right in with this crew of teens. He was funny, sweet and at times i felt bad that he was all caught up in Meg when she only has eyes for Alex.
The Parents- Once again the parents played a big role in the lives of these teens and i love that. Especially the talk Mr. Miller had with Alex. HILARIOUS!

My Ratings
Characters- Lovable and Witty
Writing Style- Excellent
Plot/Storyline- Solid, Fun, Compelling and Favorable
Steam Factor- Medium/Moderately Steamy
Overall- I LOVED IT!! READ IT!!

Imagine my surprise when I saw there was a sequel to the amazingly written So I'm a Double Threat! I was floating on Cloud 9 when I found this one!

Picks up during sophomore year and things are once again different with this group of friends. Alex is in college so he and Meg are navigating that while there is a new boy at school that has his sights set on Meg. As the year progresses there is some loops thrown at the girls. There are broken hearts and laughs and tears. There is awkwardness and love and uncertainties. As you get older things change and that is no different for this lovable cast of characters.

Written just as amazingly as the first Julie Prestsater once again takes you on a remarkable journey that leaves you dying for the third book and wanting things to work out the way you see it happening in your head.

Get this book. Read it. You'll love it! This s the sequel to the first story. I love how Julie Pretstater has such a real voice and doesn't stray from it while she writes. You feel like you get these characters and although there's a few unrealistic situations, her pop culture references and humor outweigh any doubts you might have, the story centers around Megan, but you get to know her mom, her mom's friends and even the teachers. My favorite part is that the author doesn't skimp on the book. Seems like a lot of authors will take 400 pages and break it into 4 books, but each book in this series is full fledged and a real book, not some wimpy group of chapters. Buy this book, read it, you'll buy the others just like I did. Enjoy this gem of a series!

Once again Julie Prestsater manages to draw you into the world of this group of teens just by showcasing the daily trials and tribulations of teenage existence. Having fallen in love with Meggie and Alex in "So I'm A Double Threat", I was anxious to see where this adventure was going to take them and their friends. We were treated to the highs and lows of relationships, both romantic and platonic, and how each of the kids chose to deal with them. Another fantastic story by a fantastic author. All I can say is bring on Part 3 because I want to know what happens next!!!

Loved this follow up book. Is a Junior Year book in the works? The continuing adventures of Meg and the gang. The author does an intricate weaving of dialogue with the petty trivialities that somehow seemed so important as a teenager are brought to life vividly and nostalgically.

*Spoiler Alert* - I really loved the ending. I really loved how Meg came into her own and realized that she can be herself, a happy individual, without being the Meg & Alex hybrid entity.

So cute and fun. I love all the characters in this series. Well not Amy and Eric of course. I even love Ben who may have been a jerk to start but turned into a good guy.

Find the whole NKOTB funny. I am a huge BSB fan and all my daughters friends find it funny. I often make comments of Brian, Nick, Howie, AJ or Kevin. I so know I could follow them around the world and make a club if I found other BSB fan mom's.

Love this book/series!!!

Would have been 5 stars but for the annoyance of several different scenes blending together.

One was particularly glaring...it was an actual major plot development and no attention was paid to it--the reader was immediately thrown into another scene before having had a chance to even understand it. It was explained in the very next line via the mc answering her friends questions about it. Really threw me....weird and disappointing as I (usually) really enjoy the author's ability to introduce unexpected changes to the plot . And this was a huge change and it was pretty much ruined!!

Continuing the drama at Carver High . Megan got Alex but can she hold on to him ? His is away at college while she still stuck in high school and all the dramas that comes with. She is trying so hard to keep Alex but then along comes new boy Travis . Travis likes her and she not sure what t do with her conflicting feelings. Can she and Alex keep what they have over the long distance that separates them ? A good read full of sports , proms, dances , parties and typical teenage angst.

I did enjoy this one but not as much the second time around. As I’m reading this now at an older age I do see more issues with the age gap of the main relationship.

Also some parts of this book give me kissing booth 2 vibes.

Overall a good read and a good second instalment to the series.

Does distance really make the heart grow fonder? Maybe… Maybe not.

Megan has now entered her second year of high school and even more drama is coming her way. With the loss of one of her friends and her boyfriend being like a gazillion miles away, can she keep it together long enough for Alex to make his way home from school? Then Travis shows up and all bets are off for her. Can she keep from wanting to look at another guy or even show interest in him? Can Alex be so far away from Megan and not be tempted by college life?

Megan feels lost without Alex. She is relying on her friends to get her through this and keep her going. What that means is a ton of parties, late nights out, slipping grades and temptation. Looking back at my own high school experience, it is not so far fetched to see all of the drama going on with Megan. But as an adult, it’s hard to relate even if we were all there at one point. I just keep saying, “Drama, Drama, Drama…” but what I really should have been telling myself, “Yep, I remember those days.”

I enjoyed this book, but I was heart broken and missing Alex since he was so far away at school. But Travis stepped in and made me smile. He really did find Megan attractive and Megan found him just as attractive. But the temptation may just be too much to handle. But Megan finds herself in constant trouble at school and at home and she is just struggling to keep it all together until Alex finally makes the decision.

He wants Megan to experience high school and to be able to enjoy it instead of constantly worrying about Alex and college. Things she never thought she would need to worry about. This is such a great look at a sophmore year in high school. But through it all she has her two besties by her side and no matter what the three of them will get through the year and they will survive.

This is a great follow up to So I’m a Double Threat and I found myself wishing I could go back in time and stand beside Megan as a friend and offer her advice and a shoulder to lean on. This book was full of humor as well and it was just heartwaring and touching.

“Double Threat My Bleep” (Double Threat # 2) by Julie Prestsater
5 out of 5 stars

On my second trip back to high school with the Double Threat Crew I got to live another year vicariously through their eyes. Change is the theme of the second book in Julie Prestsater’s series and man is it hard. It’s sophomore year for the girls and with it comes a year of awkward. They aren’t the cute freshman anymore but they haven’t reached upperclassmen status yet either. Stuck in the in-between they learn to rely even more on each other and the friendships they’ve created.

Meg and Alex spent the summer in “new couple bliss” but now have the hard task of navigating a long distance relationship. Meg struggles with the separation as everyone around her is coupled up and ready to start a new year. A new guy, Travis, enters the picture and an undeniable attraction shakes her faith in her relationship with Alex. Away at college, Alex is finding it hard to balance his studies, his faraway girlfriend, and his new life. One bad decision on his part will threaten everything he has built at home. I was riveted as the two of them came to grips with the concept that sometimes love isn’t enough and that relationships take a lot of hard work to sustain them.

Prestsater is a master of the high school psyche. We are avid bystanders as they learn new life lessons, face new challenges, and mature as a result. They still have fun, do their fair share of partying, but they stick by each other and grow as a group in a way that makes me envious. As with the first book, each character is unique and brings his or her own flavor to the group. It’s amazing how Prestsater writes each of them so differently with such a large cast of characters and even though the book is from Meg’s perspective I got to spend adequate amounts of time with all of them.

Kudos to Prestsater for another job well done. I can’t wait to dive into their junior year and see what another year brings them!

5 Stars...

Double Threat My Bleep, picks up right where book one ends. We find Megan and her bff's, Keesha and Steph starting their sophomore year of high school. They have now established their place in school. Classes are starting to get harder, but there are more parties and dances to attend too. Friendships continue to grow and are tested by miles and miles of being apart. Yes, Alex and Megan, have finally found their way to one another. But he is now in his first year of college and Megan is stuck in high school. This year is even harder on her. She has one less est friend, classes are tougher and she misses Alex like crazy. Can their feelings for one another sustain them being so far apart, with so few visits during the school year?

This is the second book in the Double Threat Series and I think it is even better than the first. We continue to watch Megan and her group of friends, grow and struggle with the choices that most teens face each day. So as silly as, what to wear. But with all the dating and relationship building that is going on, the pressure to become intimate arises. And we see first hand how Megan deals with that. We watch her grow from a young girl into this crazy busy, academic. Who tries to work hard and play harder. Megan's sophomore year seems to be the most challenging so far. Does she and Alex have what it takes to make a long distance relationship work? Can they trust one another enough to continue to move forward? Check out Book 2 and find out.

I just can't get enough of this series, as I dove straight into this one I could tell that it was just going to be as awesome as the first one. I love how I can picture everything that's happening in the book as that's what a book should do every time you read one. Julie Prestsater knows how to keep her readers entertained and hooked to the end.

It's been a year and everything seems to be going well for Meg, however she has lost one of her closet friends who she thought she could count on. The last thing that she expected was to find out that her friend slept with her boyfriend, it completely hurts her as she didn't expect it. Although she has managed to be with the one guy who she has loved since first laying eyes on him, she is still struggling with a lot of things. She is finding it hard that Alex has graduated and moved away to continue with school, so with having to deal with a long distance relationship, falling out with her friend and then school work on the top of that you can understand the pressure she's feeling.

Meg knows that she needs to start growing up a bit as she can't act like a kid forever, so this year she changes quite a lot and does the best as she can. However friendships are still tested, but whilst Alex is away she relies on her best friends to keep her entertained and busy. It looks like this year is going to be a fun and full one. To find out what happens you should go ahead and grab you're copy as you'll be drawn in.

4.5 Stars again

Once again Julie Prestsater takes us back to high school and reminds us all that things were tough no matter who was at our sides and that no matter how much we wanted things to stay the same everyday things were changing for the good and the bad.

Once again there were scenes that were laugh out loud histerical. I even had tears in my eyes with these funny moments. Hoever in high school not all things were happy and funny. This book also had me crying for not only Meg bu Keesha too. They both have to grow through changes as we see our group evolve and have to split up. Friends go to college and others have to move. All of which broke my heart. We also get a new friend, Travis and he turns out to be a really good guys and a wonderful addition in the long wrong.

I will say Alex did disappoint me in this one not once but twice. I can understand his reasoning with the second disappointment but at the sametime he knew this is what he was going to face when he began the relationship with Meg the summer before he left for college. However in the end I think they both handled it with maturity and understanding. I hope they both get a happy ending, afterall they do have someday

Ok, so I downloaded the first book in this series because it looked like a quick, easy, junk-food for the brain kind of read. I’m far from a teenager, but I still enjoy some good YA drama. I didn’t care for the title and really didn’t think I would care for the book, but I wound up loving it. Or I think it might be more accurate to say that I became so involved with the many unique characters that I fell in love with them. Even though the first book stands on its own and it’s not necessary to read the others in the series, I really wanted to know what became of each of them. I don’t spend money on books very often (I’m too much of a tight wad and there are too many books I can read for free.), but I purchased every book in this series and loved them all. The writer really makes you feel like you are part of their group of friends. I cried with them; I laughed out loud with them (many, many times); I fell in love with each and every one of them.

I do need to say that I would not consider this a teen read. There is a lot of partying and alcohol use at a very young age. The sexual content and bad language is limited, but is still prevalent.

This one was just okay for me. I still enjoy Meggie's character and will continue with the series to watch how things progress, but I'm really hoping more happens. This book seemed more like just a bunch of situations, it did not really have a major plot. It was still entertaining though. I think I like this series because it makes me remember my high school years, lol.
There is a gripe I have and that is how it is written. I over looked it in the first book; however, now that it is still a problem in this book, I have to mention it. What I'm referring to exactly is the transitioning of sentences/situations. It would jump from scene to scene but there was know way of knowing until you read a little bit, then realized you were in a different scenerio. For example, one minute their in class talking, then the next sentence their at a dance. It made it to where I was constantly having to re-read sentences to figure out where they were. So very frustrating. Usually authors seperate these changes with seperations of paragraphs or symbols to make this clear or more obvious. Hope this is fixed in the next book.

When i fount out Alex and Meggie was back together in this sequel i wasn't surprised, it did have a few surprises but i thought it was just too predictable and the ending didn't really bother me, if anything i was happy for the girls and that they all had each other and there "SLY"

-But then i started reading the first chapter of the last book and OMMMGGGG IM LITERALLY DYING TO KNOW WHATS ABOUT TO HAPPEN NEXT, why couldnt this have happened in the ending of "Double Threat My Bleep" :( ... This is why i hate cliff hangers uurgh, looks like ill be getting the third book, thanks alot Julie haha ;)

The second book in the Double Threat series was much like the first. If you liked the first, you will like this one. If you hated the first, why are you reading the second? LOL I actually thought this might have been a little better than the first. The main characters have more depth after reading this and I thought it dealt realistically with the problem of one member of a love affair being off to college while the other was still in high school. I went off to college totally in love with the girl just starting her sophomore year just as in this book and it detailed that very well.

I'll be reading the next one as well.

Continuing with my mission to read all of Julie Pretsater's books, I completely ate up Double Threat My Bleep.

Our little Meggie has managed to get through her first year of high school. Sometimes I wondered how she endured the crazy that was her Freshman year but then I remembered my experiences and that like Meg family and TRUE friendship can help you endure almost anything.

Meg continues to face major life decisions that seem to be almost too much for such a young girl, especially when the cutie Travis starts making his crush known.

Thankfully the crew is there to keep it all in perspective. And of course, Alex is only a text away....

These books are awesome. I love alex as usual, he's just so floppy. The only thing I didn't like was that megan went off on amy so much. She caused too many scenes and did too much, and frankly it was really irritating me. I did not like vanessa, and I was still secretly holding out hope that meg would get with ben. Speaking of ben, what happened to that nickname. He said the guys call him b.j but no one ever Does.

Hmm. What to say? Loved it and hated it. Ok I lie. Loved it but wanted to beat Alex up!!! With Alex in college and Megan still in high school there's all that separation that usually breaks most couples up. They have their hardships and a moment of almost complete brokenness that had me not putting it down until I finished it In One sitting.
