Richard Ammon taught children's literature at Pennsylvania State University and lives in Middletown, Pennsylvania, not far from the Valley Forge National Historical Park. He is the author of Conestoga Wagons; An Amish Year; An Amish Wedding, and An Amish Christmas.
Conestoga wagons were the predominant way to ship freight around the country prior to the railroad. For some reason, I associate Conestoga wagons with pioneers, but they have a much broader history than that. I found this picture book very informative.
This is a nice book for anyone who is interested in the general information on Conestoga Wagons. With vivid illustrations and a easy to understand writing style, readers will learn a lot about the early days of traveling with these "semis" of their days. A great book for someone who is wanting general information.
