These other workers at the café are annoying, I blame them for that ridiculous first kiss T-T
The hug was precious tho. It was nice to see kurose panic and act human lol

Can’t believe he said yes! You go girl!!

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕

Lmfao the Buddha face mimic was amazing! Loved his reaction too.
The date was so heartwarming!

And my girl confessed her love after that! I have a feeling she’s gonna get rejected :(

You know the song "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry?

Yeah, that could be Kurose's theme song in this volume because why does he *sometimes* treat her sweet, only to be so mean to her afterward? 😭

Listen, I LOVED volume two! I remember vividly it being one of my favorite volumes that I read the month I did because we saw so much more into why Kurose acts the way he does, but he was so hot and cold in this volume that I increasingly felt upset. I think if Mugi wasn't so earnest in her reactions to him and her feelings so genuine, I would feel differently, but that ending hurt! 😭 (Not the last two pages because that was beautiful! It's right before that precious moment.)

I think unfortunately it sort of "sealed the deal" in me dropping this series because despite that I adore Mugi and find her so fun, there was a point I caught myself thinking, "Your life would be better off if you just stopped liking him…" I don't WANT to think that because there were several parts where I laughed out loud and had a really good time, which is why my rating of this volume is so high.

But it's because I love her character that I don't want to see her try so hard for a guy who really seems to tear her down more than lift her up. 😭 Or at the least, not be very kind to her (though I will give him a shout out for sticking up for her during the locker incident! I LOVED that!) because she is so sweet, kind, and deeply caring as this volume shows.

Overall, there is a lot of fun in this series and I know I would love it even more if Kurose could just be less "cruel" in his actions towards Mugi. I definitely think if you like "girl fail" heroines and want something to make you laugh but also don't mind a VERY tsundere character, this is a wonderful series to read! I know I definitely wish I could have handled Kurose's actions a little better because there is definitely a large part of me sad not to continue this series and see what Mugi will do next…

Bro this one was so disappointing, I feel like Kurose is far too rude to everyone, like bruh basic kindness and decorum can go really far. I understand that that is his character archetype, but he takes it to extremes, I was really hoping he would become nicer but it feels like as he's gotten more comfortable with mugi, he's become more comfortable with blurting out whatever, regardless of how it might make others feel. Idk if what I wrote just made sense but man it feels like they haven't worked through anything and they're even more distant than they were before.

This is a shojo manga, but it’s also a story about a girl who could probably do better being in love with likely the most teenage boy-ass teenage boy I’ve seen in pretty much any manga.

Make no mistake, you can adjust your rating down a star if you think Kurose has already been acting rather an idiot because he goes for full-on douchetagonist status this time, helpfully jamming his foot in his mouth with Mugi with impressive efficiency.

I do like these two as a coupling, shockingly, but you can tell that they’re going to have a real tenuous relationship for a while as they try to get a handle on things. Mugi is as over-invested as Kurose is under.

Or is Kurose just one of those guys whose inclination is to tease the hell out of the girl he likes? Not quite so much, as he doesn’t realize his own feelings, which we see towards the end. It’s a textbook case of being young and stupid.

Mugi, for her part, doesn’t let him get away with crap, even though she’s already fallen for him hard and keeps trying to make things work. The mangaka describes her as a charging bull, but a steel trap would be a similarly viable comparison.

Kurose’s being a misery guts is leavened by the times he’s nice and walks back a few of his comments, again giving the impression that he’s slowly learning the notion of empathy. This is helped by Mugi wearing her heart quite broadly on her sleeve the whole time.

It’s surprising how entertaining this all is, given its rather laser focused approach to the two of them. Kurose’s sister comes back at one point and the cafe boys are around to unhelpfully help the couple out, but they are clearly in service to the leads. As it should be.

Honestly, do you want two people to fall in love who might be compatible? They should spend some time together! It’s a basic enough concept and one the manga embraces wholeheartedly. It’s not wholly different, but enough so. The job situation was a smart choice.

Kurose’s worst behaviours can be explained away, but I don’t know that they should be excused. He does seem to be learning, however, and it’s slowly pounding its way into this thick skull that maybe Mugi is okay (when he’s actually flirting he’s impressively good at it).

4 stars - I’ll take a little friction in exchange for some personal growth, especially when the instigator isn’t given a free pass. If you don’t want a jerk as your lead, however, this volume may test your patience somewhat.

Laughs and tears. Lots of laughs, but in the end, tears.

I binged the first three books and they read well back to back. Kei definitely has more coldly blunt (read: rude) moments in 3 but I think he's finally being forced to recognize how he feels and he's lashing out. Not that it excuses his behavior. He needs to make up for that. But it makes sense from a psychological standpoint given his stance towards girls and affection in general. I'd still like Mugi to be less generic. We now know she lives in a house with her parents, her mother uses expensive hair spray, and Mugi gets unmanageable bed head. But she has yet to comment on that fact that Kei is using her first name, which he started doing in volume 2.

Mugi started to remind me of Haruka in Cinderella Closet here, especially during the lip gloss scene. She's speaking up for herself more, but she wasn't really a doormat to begin with, so that doesn't feel like growth. We know so much more about Kei and learn even more in 3. That makes the characterizations feel as unbalanced as the relationship.

But the humor is still spot on and we've gotten at least one KOBEDON! in each volume. 😂

She's all in and we're still waiting for him to come around lol I've enjoyed this series. I was hoping we'd get to the confession in this Volume but at the end, it's revealed that we won't get that until vol 4. I'm excited to see how it goes and I HOPE we get a back story and understanding of why our MMC is a grumpy soul. I love how cut and dry he is but I want to know why. I love how innocent and sweet the FL is. Hoping she gets her man ❤️

Its just okay to me... neither character really stands out to me. 2.5
I liked it at first cause she disliked him too but she went from not liking him to crushing on him to quickly for me. I wish she put up a little more of a fight with him.

Parts of this were absolutely adorable and had me smiling from ear to ear. Was it perfect? No. But I am really enjoying this series as a whole. I also am a huge sucker for opposites attracting and the boy with a rough edge actually being a softie. I’d recommend.

They're such cuties. I didn't feel as excited about this one as I have for the previous ones, but I think I'm just in a mood. This still made me laugh and it was cute. I'm a sucker for a typical shoujo high school romance and this one is pretty solid.

I very much appreciate him saying I’m sorry and communicating more than most tsundere boys but it’s still sometimes a hard trope to deal with.
