SHE'S ONE TOUGH MOTHER

Roxy Reynolds learned the rules of the street nearly two decades ago as a low- level member of what was once New York City's most powerful drug organization. She was also a mom at fourteen years old, and did what she had to do to raise her daughter, Chyna. Now Chyna's all grown up, a stunningly beautiful exotic dancer with a baby girl of her own, while super-sexy Roxy is at the height of her power running Harlem Heat, a gun-trafficking ring. It's a lucrative life- style some would do anything to have. And when former drug kingpin Panama Pete returns to the hood after serving fifteen years in prison, a spiral of violence traps Roxy and Chyna and has them running from the law - and running for their lives.

Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975), known professionally as "50 Cent," is an American rapper, songwriter, television producer, actor, and entrepreneur. Known for his impact in the hip hop industry, he has been described as a "master of the nuanced art of lyrical brevity".

Born in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, Jackson began selling drugs at age 12 during the 1980s crack epidemic. He later began pursuing a musical career and in 2000 he produced Power of the Dollar for Columbia Records, but days before the planned release he was shot and the album was never released. This book was good quick and to the point. It's about Chyna and her mom Roxy they are Harlem Heat gals mother and daughter team when it comes to transporting guns. But, it all have some prices with these ladies.

Roxy friend Panama gets out of jail and Roxy feel that she owns him so she helps him get on his feet by giving him a place to live and money ever now and then. But, Chyna not liking that he is free loading and she don't trust him after her baby dad tells her that Panama is a snitch.

Chyna and her mom gets robbed for 50,000 and Chyna knowns that Panama had something to do with that happening but, Roxy her mom don't want to believe that.

In order for them to get the mom back Roxy decided to rob banks because they was going to get in trouble by the people that money they have for guns.

Now while robbing banks Roxy shoot a police officer that pulled them over so then then become on the run.

This book was good overall. :)

For such a short story this sure does pack a punch! 180 pages in total and right from the beginning I was intriqued. I didn't expect to me, I thought this was another run of the mill urban fiction book and in a way it is- it's a good one though.
Roxy and Chyna are insane of course and running through a few months, maybe a year or so, of their life together is nothing short of fantastic. It's all suspense and drama and that's what you need with a good urban fiction book.
I do have to say, I really wish 50 and his people would stop using a quarter of each book for exceprts from the next ones. If we like the book in our hands we'll buy more. We don't need 20 page teasers for 3 books included with everything. Just stick in 2 books and double the price.

"Harlem Heat" is a captivating read that effortlessly blends a quick-paced narrative with authentic hood elements. From start to finish, the story's brisk tempo keeps you engaged, while its portrayal of the urban environment and its characters' experiences adds a gritty and genuine touch. The fusion of a rapid plot progression with the incorporation of elements from the hood creates a unique reading experience that's hard to put down. An exploration of life in the streets that doesn't compromise on depth, "Harlem Heat" delivers a compelling tale for those seeking a fast-paced urban fiction fix.

This was another hood classic. The book was a quick read and it had enough action to keep you interested. I dont think people who are not fans of this genre will like it and of course it had the pitfalls common to this genre. Lack of depth and cliche characters. Cliff hanger ending in an attempt to get the reader to read the next book. Interesting premise but the female leads just made dumb decisions, decisions that made me question how they could even have come to head a lucrative drug running business in the first place.

NOW THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS. THE MOTHER ROXY WAS MY FAVORITE CAUSE SHE HAD ALL TYPES OF TRICKS UP HER SLEVE BUT SHE WAS TRUE TO THE GAME. AS A MOTHER SHE DID WHAT EVER SHE COULD TO KEEP HER CHILDREN AND HER GRAND CHILDREN UNDER A SOLID ROOF. SHE HAD MONEY COMMING IN EVERYDAY IT WAS LIKE SHE WAS AN UNDERCOVER RICH CHICK.MY FAVORITE PART WAS WHEN SHE SHOT THE POLICE OFFICER IN THE HEAD WHEN HE TRYED TO SEARCH HER CAR AND THEY HAS WEPONDS. THE ONLY REASON THIS OCCURED WAS BECAUSE SHE COULDNT STAND COPS !

Just finished this, and from the looks of it, it could've been Lorenzo that led the police to Roxy & Chyna. With Panama dead, I think he did. Maybe not intentionally but maybe he did.
