Five-year-old Miki is entrusted by Mom to run her first errand alone to go to the shop to buy milk. Miki succeeds despite what are, to her, enormous challenges.
Akiko Hayashi's most beloved book is just as wondrous and heartwarming as the cover indicates.
Entitled Miki's First Errand in the English edition, it's an adventure tale about Miki out to get a carton of milk for her mom. It's truly lovely stuff.
I don't know if I consider this book amazing, but it is really cute. It is about a Japanese girl who goes to buy milk for her mom. It shows an old-fashioned Japan, not a modern one.
