Ever present in the Pacific from Pearl Harbor to VJ-Day during World War II (1939-1945), the B-24 Liberator proved to be the staple heavy bomber of the campaign. From its ignominious beginnings in the Allied rout in the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies, the bomber weathered the Japanese storm with a handful of bomb groups, which played a crucial role in checking the enemy's progress firstly in New Guinea, and then actively participating in the 'island hopping' campaign through the south-west Pacific.

I’m not very knowledgeable about WWII bombers, but this is a very nice overview of the B-24 in the Pacific Theater. I was researching a specific B-24, the “Liquidator,” but it was not mentioned. Probably because, as I learned in this book, that there were nearly 20,000 B-24s built for the war effort. Nice educational book with a lot of photos.

Interesting and informatively detailed description of how the B-24, a much underrated bomber despite being the most produced US aircraft of WW2, was very extensively utilised in the Pacific for long-range heavy bombing missions, including minelaying, as well as photo reconnaissance over the vast distances of the Pacific campaign.

Good reference and one of the few I've seen that touch on the Pacific theater. (Most B24 books focus on the European front.) my great uncle was shot down in the south Pacific from one of these planes so it's important to me to have this reference for my family history.
