"God made the stars and put them up high to shine down on earth from up in the sky." But long ago God made a special star. He put it in the sky to send a message: "Jesus our Savior has come …" We can look at the stars at night. And we can remember that a long time ago, Jesus' star shone among them.

She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in elementary education and studied early childhood development at the University of Michigan. Her writing career began in 1990 as a lyricist for children's piano music. She began writing children's books in 1993 and has since written more than 100 books for children and 3 for women. She has written books for many popular children's series, such as Little Blessings, BOZ the Bear, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Berenstain Bears, and I Can Read! She has also written two books of humorous poetry for children, numerous magazine articles, Bible study materials, and educational resource books. As a speaker, Crystal enjoys sharing her stories and poetry with students in the classroom and also with adults at teachers' conventions, writers' conferences, and women's seminars. "Writing and speaking can be intimidating because in order to connect with your audience you need to be personal and transparent, exposing what's in your heart and soul. But when readers or conference attendees respond positively to something I've said or written, it is humbling and rewarding all at the same time!" Crystal and her husband, Bob, have enjoyed 44 years of marriage and are the parents of 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. They spend summers in Michigan and winters in Florida.

Nice rhyming book for kids about God

My Review:
Crystal Bowman, is one of my children's favorite authors. When they see the latest board board book from this very talented author their faces light up with joy. She is delighted among the children in our household. To say that she has a way with words is an understatement, she can touch the lives and hearts of your children with her words. Her latest, A Star for Jesus is able to capture the sweetness of a baby being born with a purpose. And ends with the majesty of a king set before His kingdom in all His glory. The Christmas spirit is a spirit full of the love that God shared with us the day He sent His son to redeem us.
What an AWESOME gift to bestow on a people that fail Him daily. This is a board book with 14 pages, is geared for ages 2-5 and retails for $6.29 and can be located here. I enjoyed the book because of the message it sends my children to be reminded of the "REAL" reason for the season!

I really appreciated the message in this board book! My son loves to look up at the stars and it was wonderful for us to read a book about that special star announcing the coming of Jesus! The story was a perfect reminder for this Christmas of how the wise men followed the star to worship Jesus and how we can still worship Him today too.
My son liked the lamb that was on almost every page and especially liked the big star. Since the sentences were small the book was able to hold his attention and in a way he understood what I was reading out loud.
Overall, a great read to help bring this part of the birth story alive with pretty illustrations! I recommend this board book to families with younger ones!

Delightful board book shaped like a star! Sturdy construction filled with many beautiful illustrations and words that rhyme. I read the book to our youngest grandson who pointed to each star on every page. Very memorable for children to learn about the special star with a historical message of love for everyone. Great for gift giving, home and church libraries. I recommend to my friends.
