Okay so the blurb was interesting and I dived into this one.
but this was disappointing, I really liked Avani, she was strong and confident and takes no crap.
Grayson matches her in every way. I really liked their chemistry and their banter I was enjoying.
but theres no character development, nothing much is happening, she just keeps leaving, in every other fourth chapter she is leaving, after certain chapter Avani started to annoy me, and that's where we talk about a character development, when two MCs meet and how they influence each other and move ahead.
I didnt see anything like in this one, Its not dark (it could be for some people), I wanted to see more of the plot, what happend to Avani but nothing comes or not in that depth.
This one had so much potential but It didnt deliver for me.

Not sure who is more certifiable, Grayson or Avani, but they are a match made in hell!
Avani took awhile for me to warm up too! I will say she is one strong minded, independent woman! She takes control of her life now and makes no apologies! The way she pushes Grayson’s buttons was the best!
Grayson definitely had me wanting to knock him around but when truths are revealed…All I wanted to do was kiss him!
This couple is unorthodox and definitely are not rainbows and butterflies but that doesn’t matter because all the need is each other!

Another fantastic read from this author! Loved these two characters the banter the chemistry and the steam this was perfection! I’m loving this new series of stand-alones this one was a dark exciting workplace romance and I really enjoyed it!

Grayson and Avanis story was perfect cause the couldn’t get enough of Avani and her fierce and fiery personality and her Grayson were so different it was comical. Loved them

So A Villain's Lies is a standalone but does mention characters from A Villain's Kiss.
I knew going in with this being a T.L. Smith read that I was going to enjoy the heck out of this read, and I was not wrong. I just love her writing style, pace and characters that she always seems to make unique.
The main lead Grayson, so I had a love hate relationship with him, I loved him, and sometimes felt like I wanted so smack him most of the time though. Avani was the balm to that though. She was not letting him off the hook that easy. These two had different personalities that made it work. And maybe by the end he was a total sweetie for her, but you will have to read and find out.
I highly recommend this read and anything from T.L honestly. You will love it.

Oh the irony

I admit it took a couple of chapters before I was able to really engage and connect with these two.
Eventually, though they wore me down and stole my heart

Match made in heaven -or h3ll- depending on how you look at it but I am already in love with the new couple created by all talented T.L. Smith. The fireworks and the chemistry between Grayson and Avani was off the charts high, and could be considered panty-melting hot🥵. I enjoyed every little interaction between them and got lost in their hilarious power struggle. Definitely a 5⭐️ star read.

Grayson (Jake’s brother) and Avani. I love how their personalities clash. He finds her irritating, annoying and always late. Grayson is a stickler for punctuality. Avani, finds him rude, arrogant and bossy which she mentions to him all the time. The guy who doesn’t catch feelings catches feelings. He has a bit of work to do because as irresistible as he is, she’s a runner. Great dynamic, banter and chemistry.

This is Book Two in the Villians Duet. Books are Standalone. But, if you read A Villain's Kiss, Grayson and Avani will be familiar faces. Grayson is Jake’s brother and Avani managed his Girl’s. Although, there are dark themes to the book, I didn’t feel like there was a lot of angst. T.L. does gives us another Anti-Hero who goes the distance. Grayson owns who he is. Avani is tough, street smart, and feisty as hell. Besides Jake, she has never had another man step up for her and Grayson does so with his heart on his sleeve. I could not get enough of the push and pull in their relationship.
Grayson King needs help building his Club’s reputation and finding quality girl’s. This is where Avani Paige comes in.
Avani’s childhood was a difficult one. Brought up to be a prostitute. Until she met Jake. Now her life is her’s to live and she does so on her terms.
Grayson also had an unconventional childhood. Choosing to spend his time out of the house because of his mother’s promiscuous ways. He met the Hunter brothers. They taught him the art of killing.
These two are like oil and water.
At some point instead of seeing Avani as the pain in the butt employee who is always late, although business is much better with her around, who demands designer bags, and speaks her mind, loudly and without care, he cannot stop thinking or wanting her. He may not make the best life choices because he is trying to get her out of his head.
And, much to Avani’s dismay he sneaks into her thoughts.
Grayson is creeping into her life and it is time for her to go. Handling these emotions is not for her.
Avani underestimates the extent that Grayson will go to for her.

This is a dark enemies to lovers, workplace romance. It can be read as a complete standalone. But the first book, A Villain's Kiss is so good you do not want to miss it. It's absolutely amazing and so is A Villain's Lies.
This is the story of Grayson King who is Jake's older brother who is so much a mystery from the first book. Avani is a girl who use to work for Jake and if you have read the first book then you know what I am talking about when I say she is acquired by Grayson and now works for him. She is strong willed and feisty and gives as good as she gets and she and Grayson clash all the time She is late and he is a strict be on time kind of guy. She thinks he is bossy and arrogant and really rude. All of this tension makes for some absolutely amazing reading. I loved every single second of it. I don't really want to go in to what the story is about. It is a book that you just need to dive into blind and enjoy the wild ride that is A Villain's Lies. I feel like you leave a little bit of your heart in the pages of this book when you close it. It was amazing and I know that it is one that I will read again multiple times.

I had read and reviewed A Villains's Kiss and is available on my Instagram post and Goodreads review is also up. I had loved Oriana and Jake's love story and no doubt, I loved Grayson and Avani's story too.
Grayson, the MMC, is Jake's brother and Avani's, the FMC, new boss. As discussed in A Villains's Kiss, Grayson is going to be Avani's sugar daddy (I need one in my life as well, but anyways...) he buys her stuff and yet he is scowling at her, he might be a villain in everyone's story, but in Grayson's own story, Avani might be the villain. What happens if Grayson falls for this villain?
God, I LOVE how Avani pokes and prods Grayson even when he is hella mad, I laugh everytime something like this happens (which is most of the time), God, they are infuriating, I am in love.
I love the scene I attached above soooo muccchhh😭🤌🏻 I mean, Grayson, even though finds Avani annoying, he cannot resist her. AND THE FACT THAT GRAYSON BOUGHT THE HOUSE THAT AVANI LIVED IN AND KICKED OUT HER ROOMMATE WAS SO ROMANTIC💟🛐 on my knees for you sir.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by author)...

This is Grayson’s story, half-brother to Jake (same father different mothers), who we met in A Villain’s Kiss.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with Grayson especially with the way he was with Jake, but Grayson was psychotic pleasant surprise. Avani was I’m still not sure what she was, but she was definitely entertaining yet deadly as well. I have to say right from the start these two had me laughing because they did not get along mostly because Avani loved to torture Grayson. However, the incident with Destiny, Avani’s roommate, was truly the best odd ball situation between these two.
I would have to say this book was the most lethal and deadliest, which is saying a lot coming from this mafia series. I think it’s weird of me to love how Grayson “courted” or “wooed” Avani, but I really did love it; it was so crazy, but it was so them that it just fit. I will say I loved Grayson the most in this book mostly because I wasn’t sure about Avani’s feelings for Grayson. Although he is Mister Tall Dark and Deadly you could see the sweet for Avani, and while Avani is not a wilting flower, I didn’t feel the love from her so easily.
With everything that took place in this book, I didn’t want it to end, I wanted more of their craziness. Which brings me to my final thought, the ending was too abrupt, I was expecting or at least hoping for an epilogue, but it kind of just ends.
I wonder if we will get books on the Hunters, Grayson’s special friends/associates.

I’m not sure what I was expecting with the Villian’s Story duet, but it’s exceeded my expectations. A Villian’s Lies was chock full of the things I love from this author and I was drawn into the story from the first page. Grayson and Avani are both morally gray characters that have a love/hate relationship that steams up the pages.
“She’s an addiction I didn’t know I could fall victim to.”
Avani has survived a difficult past and she’s a strong, fierce character who demands what she wants. Grayson is an anti-hero who takes what he wants, but there’s something about him that pulls the reader in and makes you root for him. Both of these characters are unapologetically villains, but they have endearing qualities.
“She’s the only thing in this life that has made me feel somewhat good.”
The snarky banter between Avani and Grayson is electric and you can tell that even though they irritate each other, they can’t help their attraction. It was fun to see their adversarial relationship change into something more and how Grayson was determined to take revenge on those who had hurt Avani.
“When you run, I run with you from now on.”
Full of dark and gritty situations, questionable workplace ethics, spicy banter, combustible chemistry and fiery enemies to lovers relationship, A Villian’s Lies was a great, fast-paced story that will keep you glued to the pages. I loved watching these two realize that underneath all of their bravado was a heart that was just waiting to be claimed.

Meeting Grayson, Jake’s brother, in book one—A Villain’s Kiss, for me was not a pleasant experience as I thought he was a dreadful character, and that’s true. He certainly is very arrogant and bossy, but there is a lot more to him and this book definitely changed my opinion of him.
I absolutely love Avani. She is such a strong, determined woman who has such a sassy nature, and is perfect for Grayson, who she definitely feels needs to be brought down a peg or two. Avani has a traumatic past and now craves control—not something Grayson is willing to give up easily. They do say opposites attract—for example, he is extremely punctual, while she is always running late! Grayson immediately finds her to be irritating and annoying and Avani immediately finds annoying and irritating Grayson too much fun. Oh, did I mention how much I love Avani?
This enemies to lovers story has lots of drama and plenty of action too. Both are villains in their own ways and even though I believe Avani really isn’t one, she understands him and his darkness. I love the surprise in the story, I did ponder if this might happen but dismissed it, great plot twist.
Another winner for this author and now I’m very interested in the Hunter brothers. 😉

Grayson immediately finds her to be irritating and annoying and Avani immediately finds annoying and irritating Grayson too much fun. Oh, did I mention how much I love Avani?
This enemies to lovers story has lots of drama and plenty of action too. Both are villains in their own ways and even though I believe Avani really isn’t one, she understands him and his darkness. I love the surprise in the story, I did ponder if this might happen but dismissed it, great plot twist.
Another winner for this author and now I’m very interested in the Hunter brothers. 😉

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "A VILLIAN'S LIES"
OMG!!!! This book grabbed me right from the start it pulls you right in with suspense, intrigue, angst, danger, steam, secrets, lies, killing, twist & surprises that make for one very addicting page turner to the end.
Avani had been sent by Jake who saved her life taking her in hiding her from her abuser to work for his brother Grayson to turn his Sex Club arround
she was to manage the girls, late daily to work which ticked him off, they made a deal he was to buy her designer bags & she'd show up on time.
Grayson was an arrogant a-hole, bossy, dominant, dangerous nothing like his brother Jake, they mixed like oil & water but underneath there was definitely sexual tension even if they wouldn't admit it.
I definitely recommend to get this phenominal story you can't put down I absolutely loved Avani's character she was a perfect match for Grayson his protect her always, the shocking ending will blow you away this is one my all time favorite reads, wanted more.

TL Smith has given us perfection. In A Villain’s Lies, we meet Avani who is a manager at the club that Grayson owns. She’s has had a really rough upbringing and was saved by Jake, Grayson’s brother. She loves and thrives on control and will never ever relinquish it. But then so does Grayson. Due to this they butt heads a lot and strongly dislike yet highly respect each other.
The banter in this book was top notch. I had a smile on my face almost the entire time I read this which is rare.
If you’re looking for a book which has Jealous/Possessive, Boss/Employee , Enemies-to-lovers, He falls first and would kill for you vibes, you 100% NEED to read A Villain’s Lies. Check triggers though, this one is a little dark so be warned.
What I loved the most I think is that Avani is such a boss babe and Grayson absolutely hates how much he loves that about her. They are everything and I just love them. Love love love love love them.

WOW WOW WOW !! Another million star book for me by T.L. Smith !! This time it is Grayson King brother of Jake King who Avani Paige used to work for. Jake needs to give Grayson something and he knows Avani is looking for a change .. so she agrees to go work for Grayson for one year. What does she get out of the exchange??
Since working for Jake, Avani became a custom to get new shiny things, and what she gets out of this deal is a designer bag every month, but Grayson is an inclined to give her one every month because of Avani is late for work every single day. He tells her he is not going to tolerate it, but he knows that she is doing a great job with the girls and the books so he puts up with it but for how long??
The question is, why is she being late? Is it because she knows it drives Grayson mad and she loves to get on his nerves the chemistry between these two can go from one to 1000 in a matter of a second and you will enjoy every minute !! Except Avani is a runner .. will she running this time or will she stay with Grayson?

This book captured me instantly. I loved A Villains Kiss and the introduction to Grayson and Avani in that book intrigued me. Avani was given to Grayson to work for him by his brother Jake. Avani is good at what she does and gets his club running very smoothly. I love how strong-minded Avani is especially after the life she had lived before she was saved. This woman has been through so much brutal abuse and came the other side as a woman who is in control of her future. She takes no crud from Grayson and stand up to him at every turn. Grayson is attracted to her, but she drives him insane and knows how to push all his buttons. The banter between these two was magnetic. When they can't keep their hands off each other things change, and she is scared and runs. Its what she always does. I loved how protective and caring he becomes. He will burn the world down for her and he does in so many ways. He slays her demons for her. This book was fast paced perfection and if you love a good villain, you will love Grayson. I devoured this book in one sitting and wished I had more. Another hit by T. L. Smith. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

Grayson acquires Avani from his brother to work for him, and little does he know how much chaos she'll throw his life into. This girl seriously drove him batty with her tardiness, and I mean she was late all the time so I found myself laughing a ton despite the fact that I felt his pain LOL! Avani is an independent sassy heroine who can push buttons with the best of them, and her crazy totally fits his crazy that's for sure. There's nothing cookie cutter about their journey, and seriously, I was highly entertained throughout it all. They have chemistry in spades of course, and it's the type that won't be denied forever, and when it ignited I needed a fan on high. Grayson is a man who never catches feelings, and yet, feelings are getting caught. Avani is on the same page with not wanting to catch feelings and yet the heart wants what the heart wants but the difference is, she's a flight risk. This story was fantastic in all its dark workplace glory with the angst filled kicker on top of all the heat so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I really enjoyed this sequel! Picking up from the first book but with two different pov’s. Avani leaves Jake’s establishment to work for his brother Greyson. Greyson who is controlling and bossy can’t stand Avani. She’s always late, talks back and is under his skin.
I really like Greyson! Why is it always the stabby ones that get me? Anyway, I love the possessiveness, the “I don’t want her but I need her” and especially the “touch her and die”. SWOON. I appreciate assertiveness and bossiness.
Avani’s character really pulled at me. All the things she had been through and she’s still out here being a bad b. People like her have my admiration and I’m just in awe of them.
Once again I think this book (and duet) is a great introduction into dark romance. These were short, quick reads and I enjoyed them very much!

She's h3ll on wheels that one! Takes no nonsense from anyone, anyone who meets Grayson literally quivers in fear. But Avani, she likes to push his buttons, is never on time - EVER and has a major love of designer handbags.
But from the very start, even in the last book, I knew I'd back her, I knew her story would break my heart and I knew without a doubt that she knew pain! And I was oh so right!!

Grayson and Avani’s story was so intense, steamy, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. These two are like oil and water. Grayson is demanding, controlling, protective and a killer and Avani, well she’s loud, mouthy, snarky and everything he hates, but there is something about her that draws him in. Avani has a dark past that haunts her in ways no one could imagine and when Grayson slowly starts to learn more about her, all he wants is to protect her and kill every single person who ever hurt her. The closer they get the more she wants to run, that’s all she knows and when feelings start to creep in, she needs to leave for fear she may be found by the one person who could take everything and more from her. I LOVED their story. Grayson is full on alpha male and Avani fights him at every turn. They are so made for each other and Grayson is ready to fight for her, all Avani has to do is open her eyes and her heart to really see him and what they can have. Amazing read!!!

Grayson owns a strip club just like his brother. Avani was brought in to help manage the girls and to turn the business around so it will become profitable again.
Then you have Grayson who is dark and handsome, yet mysterious. When he meets Avani, he is a complete jerk to her and wants nothing to do with her. But, she starts to grow on him. As, time goes on he does things to help her out. She doesn't always appreciate it but, he doesn't care. How far would he go to help her out?
Will helping Avani be the right thing? You will need to read this amazing book to find out! I was provided with and ARC and this is my honest opinion.

This is the kind of book that grabs your attention from the very beginning and then keeps it. Grayson and Avani had this great push and pull, and I loved their interactions. And while Grayson was definitely dark and rough around the edges, he also showed there was more to him before I was even 10% into the story. Avani kept me smiling with her sass and also broke my heart with her past and feelings about herself. But they were both such well written characters that I couldn’t help liking them both and it’s one of the main things that made me love the story so much. Another was just the humor in the writing. It’s something I really enjoy about this author. She can write about darkness or intense and steamy scenes. But then she can turn around and throw in this humor that’s well placed and very much appreciated by me. Overall, this was just a good story and I can’t wait to see what’s next from T.L. Smith.

if I had a man like Grayson, I would probably argue with him a lot. I feel like with him it’s literally a love-hate relationship. I would love to have a walking credit card like this though.
“He’s dressed in all gray-his slacks, shirt, even his shoes.” - way to put the gray in Grayson. Sleeping with a roommate of a girl you like is really dumb… Grayson is a definition of “He”s just a man.”
I really love Avani’s bargaining skills, I’m just in awe. I like that the author made both of the characters blunt. Let’s be real, life would be so much easier with more honesty in the world. I still don’t understand how he ate the pancakes…how did he survive it?
I feel bad for Charlotte, since she was just someone caught in the middle… but I do hope that people like her father get caught irl too. I’m impressed Charlotte thought of getting a tracking app in Grayson’s phone and disappointed that Grayson wasn’t more cautious or smart….
