Cheese Louise!

Rate this book
A piece of Swiss cheese named Louise and her exciting kitchen caper. It's the middle of the night. The floor creaks downstairs. Was that the sound of the refrigerator door opening? What really goes on in the kitchen when the lights go out? The answer: danger, adventure and the stuff of legends. This is the story of Cheese Louise and her friends, Seymour, the grouchy carrot, and the protective Pop Corn. It's also the story of Kit, the most dangerous cat ever to prowl a linoleum floor.

"Try to look your best when the lights come on."

What's going on behind that refrigerator door? They are all waiting to be chosen, that's what. Pop Corn, Seymour Carrot and now, Cheese Louise. After all, they don't want to go to waste. But a worse fate would be to be snatched by Kit the Cat, "the nastiest cat ever to prowl a linoleum floor." Cheese Louise is full of holes, so she doesn't think she'll ever get chosen. But when there's an emergency and the Leader (Baking soda) asks for a volunteer for a dangerous rescue mission, Cheese Louise is up to the challenge.

This book is about a slice of Swiss cheese and all of the friends that she makes in the refrigerator. The book goes over what it is like to be on the other side of the refrigerator door and can give children the ability to imagine what their food is thinking when they get picked to be eaten -- and when they aren't chosen. There are many awesome illustrations and I think this could be a fun read aloud for students. I would read this to early to mid elementary school students.

A very weird don't-let-food-go-to-waste story in which the food is brought to life, must save the day and hopes to be "chosen" so it doesn't get moldy. Because after all food with feelings and what not would never want to go moldy right? Far better to be eaten according to this book. Weird, weird book.
