Charlotte Blackwell, author of The Embrace Series, is delighted to have the opportunity to follow her dreams of writing. She would love to share a little bit about herself with you now. Charlotte was born in October of 1976. On the day of her birth, Charlotte's father was racing stock cars, while her two older sisters watched from the stands as their father crashed through the wall of the racetrack. Within moments, the stock car he was driving came back through the wall, and he won the race. He took his two daughters and hurried to the hospital for the birth of his third daughter, Charlotte. Raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Charlotte enjoyed swimming, singing (although not so great at it) and writing her thoughts down. She never shared her passion for writing with anyone, and it got put on the back burner. As Charlotte grew, she found a new passion in medicine. She became the athletic trainer for her high school men's basketball team. Helping the team through their injuries are some of her best memories as a teen. After the birth of her first daughter, Jorden, Charlotte moved to Calgary, Alberta where she returned to college for her practical nursing certificate. During her schooling, Charlotte became pregnant with her second daughter, Shawnee. Due to complications, Charlotte was put on bed rest and had to step away from school. Shawnee was born, but was not breathing. The staff worked to resuscitate the small baby, and succeeded. Charlotte returned to school only six weeks later and completed her course. She began working with children, and eventually in the special care nursery for ill and pre-term babies. Charlotte and James finally decided to get married in 2005 and completed their family with a son, Lucas, in 2006. Lucas was born six weeks early and had three surgeries by one month old. Today, all three of their children are happy, healthy and very active. Charlotte and James live with their children and their many animals, just outside of Calgary, Alberta. They cherish every moment they have together as a family, and hope to soon travel the world. James and the children have been great supporters of Charlotte from day one, and continue to cheer her on along the way. Charlotte has a strong passion for young adult novels, especially those in the paranormal or dark fantasy genres. As she continues to work on The Embrace Series, Charlotte is also working on a mainstream romance. She will continue to update this site with her work and what is next, and she thanks you all for your support and encouragement.
If you would like to contact Charlotte for an interview, speaking engagement, to ask her a question, leave a personal comment, or anything to do with her novels, you can e-mail her at embraceseries@gmail.com. She does her best to reply to everyone.
Forbidden Embrace does pick up where it left off only to make me want more. I can't wait till I receive my copy of Mystic Embrace because with the last two books this author has put out, I couldn't put the books down and hope that I will be left alone long enough to be able to enjoy this next book of her series. It's a must read and you don't know what you are missing until you have read the books themselves. You feel what the characters feel and the true bond of friendship that should be the way it is in real life not just in books. The characters have accepted each other as they are, not what everyone thinks they should be. Way to go Charlotte. Can't wait for Mystic Embrace and the rest that follow.
I was given book 1 to review by the author back in May and I loved it, since then I have followed Charlotte on her blog and pestered her about book 2. (thanks for putting up with my hinting Charlotte) Therefore I was so excited when I got an email from Charlotte with book 2. I could not wait to get stuck into this series again and literally squealed when I opened the email. The book follows on from the first, and I was immediately back into the world. It was like meeting up with old friends. This book is really fast paced and exciting. Sophia and Danika are still having issues and things go from bad to worse. Danika runs away and causes all sorts of problems. There is also a massive battle looming from a rival vampire clan the Cerberus and a character makes a reappearance. I read this really quickly and couldn't stop. I even stayed up late tonight to finish it. The characters develop more in this book and you also learn more about their history and origins. I love the vampire lore and magic study. You see a whole new side to Danika and Sophia opens up more too. She was quite guarded in the first book but she is learning to trust her friends and family more. Nathaniel is such a sweetheart, so understanding and accepting of Sophia. If only all boys were like that. It was good to see more of Ebony and Eliza too, the young witches are really coming into their own and I hope we see more of them in the next book. This really is a series that I would recommend you check out.
This is likely the most poorly written book I have ever read. I almost stopped reading it 1/3 of the way through, but felt guilty not finishing it since it was my recommendation that the library bought the book in the first place. The number of grammar errors, typos, missing words etc in this book made it painful to read. There were sentences that didn't make sense as well as some insane run on sentences. The lack of use of contractions was as annoying as in the first book too, but this time the errors overwhelmed me. My favorite error was when someone was going to make "snacks for the guests" and instead it read "snakes for the guests". I mean seriously...writters do pay editors to read their books right and correct these types of errors? The author also tends to be very repetitive and overly sappy which gets annoying. On top of that the first half of the book was pretty much the same as Stephanie Meyers' "Eclipse". Bad vampires are coming to battle against the good vampires, but the good vampires enlist the help of some American Natives who just happen to be shape shifters, so they win the war. The only difference was this book also has witches to help out. Some original ideas did appear in the second half of the book, but unfortunately I just couldn't get over the errors.
This book picks up where the first one, Immortal Embrace, left off. It is about a family of vampires who have become a family as they learn how to live their lives after being embraced. Her newest sister is Danika, who is learning to survive and trying to find herself as a fledgling vampire and makes the normal mistakes of a teenager, but who lives in a much more dangerous environment--so her mistakes are much more costly. Sophia was suspicious of her from the start, but through Sophia, the reader begins to understand her too. I love the sweet romance between Sophia Pierce and her boyfriend, Nathan. It is packed with wonderful interactions between several of her friends and family as they survive a mortal world and dangerous vampires who hunt and feed on humans. Throw in two powerful witches who are the decendants of the witch who first helped this family of vampires, one guardian angel who must earn his wings through death, and you have a page turning novel you can't put down.
I highly recommend this series to young adults and adults alike. Anyone who loves fantasy and paranormal will enjoy reading Charlotte Blackwell's paranormal Embrace series. So far I love this series, love Forbidden Embrace, and I was quick to start reading Mystc Embrace. I give it five stars.
I had to read this right after I finished Immortal Embrace because I had to see what happens. I Love these people so much and really enjoy how the vampires and witches work together. I love reading about witches and am excited to learn more about them as well as my beloved vampires. You really feel like you are in the story, right next to them. And of course the love story makes me swoon. I am so excited to see the female as the strong vampire and the male as the human, even though he is no ordinary human. There are so many interesting layers to this series and keeps me very interested!!! You don't want to miss this one!!!
I would actually rate this a 3.5 if that was a possibility. This second book was easier for me to get through than the first. There is still a lot of proper language that makes it seem awkward to me, but it's less and we see more conversation how we would talk today. There's also still the similarities to Twilight and Charmed, but less so, and now at the end I even saw a little similarity to True Blood. But the storyline has taken a different turn, so it's more interesting to me than the first book was. I am very hopeful that the books will continue to get better as I continue to read the series.
This book is the sequel to Immortal Embrace. I really like this series. In this book Sophia has everything going for her in life, a family she loves, best friends witch happen to be witches and the man of her dreams. Until every this she loves is threatened to be fallen away but a rogue vampire clan called the Cerberus. She is determined to protect her loved ones and the town that she loves.
This series is mesmerizing with its wonderfully developed plotline and intriguing characters. I was immersed immediately into the story once again. Having read the first book, I found myself anticipating this book and I was not disappointed. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better this book comes out. I love the story i love the people and I love charlotte. I am tring really hard to wait for the next one but it is killing me.
Just when Sophia thinks she can relax and enjoy her life with Nate, things get complicated again. The clan of rogue vampires are on their way to destroy their happiness and Danika is acting bratty. In the end they as a family defeat the rogues and even gain Caspian back for a time. I cant wait for the next book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love reading the whole supernatural suspense genre as I love things that are not always sweet and innocent but rather a little on the dark and dangerous side. I love the fact this has not only bad but the good with the vampires, witches, shifters and so much more. I can’t wait to read more.

She had thought she had found peace and happiness but trouble is on the horizon. Rogue vampires are doing towards their town. Can they fight them as a family? How will they fight?See if they can do it as a family

The second book in the Embrace Series and it is just getting better with each book. I want to read the next book, I have to know how this series is going to end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loving this series, the family and friendship connections are ones we all hope to have. The excitement continues to grow, and Sophia is showing signs of finding herself and becoming the string women I suspect her to be.
I started Forbidden Embrace straight after Immortal Embrace as I couldn't wait to read it. Those of you who have had to wait between books don't have to worry. Forbidden Embrace picks up straight were it left off in Immortal Embrace, and occasionally reflects back on a few things to keep the reader up to date.
I started this book already with my own thoughts and feelings for each of the characters. I loved Sophia even more in Forbidden Embrace, she was protective of her family even more than ever and her feelings for Nate are growing and she tries her hardest to do what is right to keep him safe, even if he dislikes it. Danika....what can I say about her. From my previous review you already know I dislike her a lot and in the first few chapters my dislike grows even more, but in the end, when we actually get to see her thoughts I do feel sorry for her and can understand how she acted the way she did. This doesn't mean that I don't dislike her at all, just that I don't dislike her as much.
Forbidden Embrace introduces more characters. We get to learn more about the background characters from Immortal Embrace and watch as the witches, Ebony and Eliza work more on their magic to help out Sophia and her family, especially in helping prepare for the fight and making sure that they have the advantage over the Cerberus.
Again Charlotte has added just the right amount of detail to her writing, giving us the props to imagine what is going on, but not too much that it takes away from the story. Forbidden Embrace flows perfectly, not only towards the fight but even afterwards, and although the danger isn't coming directly to the Pierce Family anymore, you are made aware of it being in the background and in their thoughts.
Forbidden Embrace ends nicely, with all the story wrapped up and no big cliffhanger. I can't wait for Mystic Embrace to be released and see what happens next.
At the end of the first book Danika was missing and Sophia had a really bad feeling about her... and what is worst: a vampire clan, the Cerberus, is heading in their way which puts the entire Pierce family and friends in danger.
Because of this we manage to get to know Ebony and Eliza better, the most stronger witches out there. At least they will be once they learn to control their power. I think that both characters will have a bigger participation in the third book, and I hope they will, their story is really interesting and their boyfriends are, well, quite handsome too, hehe.
Sophia an Nathaniel's relationship is getting better and better and their love grows in each page. Maybe he will become a vampire? I'm still not sure if I would like that since before knowing her he had his life figured out but... oh well, it's love after all, right? Love changes everything...
And, happily for me we get to read a lot more about Caspian, one of my favorite characters. He is a deep, strong and caring guy that never hesitates: his family comes first, the consequences are not important.
Definitely a quick and light read. The book is not very long so if you are looking for a book to finish in one day this should be the one, but remember to read the first one before otherwise you won't understand this one very well.
I really enjoyed the first book of this series, it was well written and the characters came to life for me. BUT This book is just WOW! I can't believe some of the turns the author took in book 2. I liked seeing Nate and Sophia progress as well as Matt and Ebony. It seems like everyone has some kind of supernatural history and I can't wait to see what comes out in the 3rd book.
Charlotte Blackwell has done an amazing job of making this 2nd book in her debut series very original from anything else I've read. I love how even though she write is first person, we get little glimpses into the minds of other characters...very Tolkin of her. I have never read an author with a similar style, that has the ability to draw me right into the story.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves the paranormal. It is also cool to watch her grow as an author as her writing improves and she blossoms from writer to full fledge author. Well done Mrs. Blackwell. I can't wait for the next instalment.
I wasn't too thrilled with this book. I stuck through it only because I started it and couldn't abandon it. There were several gramatical errors along with spelling errors. The overall story wasn't the best and I found that there were several parts of the book that were repetitive. It seemed like every chapter restated who a character was and the relation and how someone was a soul mate and the love of their life. Not the best book I have read, it wasn't something that I couldn't wait to have a free moment to pick back up and finish reading.
this book was just to similar to twilight and charmed. guardians watching over sister witches in other words a white lighter. its even had some blade moments with the blood shower in the club. it was a very hard book to get in to. I don't think its taken me this long to finish a book in along time.
