Tsutomu Nihei (弐瓶 勉 Nihei Tsutomu, born 1971) is a Japanese manga artist. His cyberpunk-influenced artwork has gained a strong cult following. He has a relatively large community of fans in Germany where his manga Blame!, NOiSE and Biomega were published by Ehapa. Blame! was also published in France and Spain by Glénat, in the US by Tokyopop and in Italy by Panini Comics.
At first he studied architecture and later it is shown up in his manga works with drawing huge structures. This became one of his general theme that makes his manga unique. His works are usually in black and white. He is also an avid fan of the video game series Halo, as he mentions in his commentary section in the Halo Graphic Novel.
The fight scenes are still wasted on me since I can't follow the events. Most of them seem to be secondary to Killy's goal to find net terminal gene samples, so I just ignored them. There's plenty of destruction here, but it feels like all of it just leads to Killy getting a gene sample that may help him in his quest.
After the epic fight between killy, seu and the silicon life. Killy once again lost in the never ending search for the net terminal gene. In Vol. 5 & and 6 We get a little bit of answers to the purpose of those cyborgs hunting humans(Silicon Life) and the floating AI? and her/its partner that's been helping the humans of the Cave.
Their is also a mind blowing scenes that shows how powerful technology has become in this world. Were talking about TIME JUMPS, TELEPORTATION, BODY SWAPPING, instant upgrade and etc
In Vol. 5 we finally confronted the AI that's managing the TOHA Heavy Industry.
Also lets take note about this guys name for future references
In Vol.6 The TOHA Heavy Industry gets teleported outside the city (I thought the entire planet is the city). Killy's gets teleported in a different place AND DIFFERENT TIME maybe, This may explain why Cibo has this machine straps on her/it.
Vol. 6 Chapter 36: Beautiful Life
We saw some remnants of this world. A machine that's constantly producing clones almost every minute in the rest of eternity.
indecipherable plot art so complicated it's hard to even understand whats being depicted characters are not even clear if real superhuman or changing one of the best series ive ever read
This dark, gritty, alienating, violent cyberpunk manga is really good. The artist Nihei is really gifted to draw buildings and he creates an empty world left with never ending growing buildings, metallic structures, and deadly creatures out to get you. The structures and the Safeguards who were once protecting the population, are now out of control and kill everyone on sight, due to a virus the population was exposed to. Killy is set to find a person whose genes (Net Terminal Genes) are uncorrupted by the virus in order to get back the control over the structures and the Safeguards since only such a person can access the control center. During that time the Silicones, the official bad guys, keep causing troubles and want to stop Killy. Thankfully, Killy is a powerful cyborg and makes friend along the way with Cibo a scientist.
The manga has barely any dialogue, Blame! is the kind of manga where you really have to pay attention to each image and even reread a few times the manga in order to really understand what is going on. I think it is worth it.
Some of my favorite art in the series. Ending was cool. Not gonna lie I was kinda confused the whole series (especially since I had long gaps between volumes), but the art was cool as fuck so I low key don’t care.
Alright, so, I’m just gonna immediately throw this out there. I only rated this series four stars because PewDiePie said he loved this series. Yeah, I was one of those.
In actuality, I fucking hated the artwork. I just did not like it at all. And I just did not care about the story. So, yeah; don’t like things just because a YouTuber or celebrity you like happens to like/love it.
rada ga mudeng deh. kenapa central AI-nya segitu mudahnya dikalahin sama Maeve. emang sih si maeve udah dimodifikasi gitu, tapi Mensab aja hebat, masa central malah kalah. walaupu akhirnya mensab juga mati juga. cibo-nya keren, gak mati-mati, udah mo mati masih ada aja yang nolongin. adegan paling serem pas mereka nemuin mesin yg terus bikin kloning perempuan, yang akhirnya dihancurin killy.
Still liking it. It's still hard to follow sometimes, but maintains the level of weirdness that keeps me interested. The first half of this volume was mostly explosions, which wasn't as interesting, but the second half picked up the story again. The clone interlude was oddly compelling.
